Great essay, Flea. I went through all the comments and enjoyed reading them, as well. I went to school with a lot of Nam vets and never heard many stories, other than some of their drunken on leave stuff. I could tell it had a profound affect on them, but they put on their best face and moved forward.

I am glad that God gave you the peace that passes all understanding. He knows what you went through, but more importantly, He has forgiven those sins through the atoning blood of Christ.

Hope you are having a good day and doing well. Thanks for the link.

We pretty much were not allowed to discuss it due to the stigma put on us. Even our own families would cut us off if we tried to discuss the real stuff.
As for the forgiveness part. I deliberately worded it that way so as not to excite any deep prejudices and derail the topic. I was trying to reach as many of the affected families as possible.
The real gift through salvation is that with Christs help I was able to really take a look at my role in my life up to that point and own and sweep my side of the street. Now I am free to recount anything and everything in my own life as a witness to God’s healing power. I have no more secrets which is very liberating. I’m not at liberty to incriminate my friends or their families who were involved.

Here is the picture they don’t want you seeing.
He would have been 8 or 10 when this was done to him. I was amazed he lived this long.

One of the people I used to work.with. Mike, he was drafted, but was a CI, so he became a medic. He was ahead of me in school by about four maybe five years, if that.
He was sent to Vietnam, Every day after work he went to the American Legion and drank himself into a stuper.
Now I never asked about the war. His or anyone else’s. But one time while we were at the canteen/bar in the legion he told me his story about returning from Vietnam. It went something like.this.
He said that as he was walking through San Francisco, waiting for his flight back to Boston he came upon a poster of Ho Chi Minh, he proceeded to pull out his Zippo and set it on fire. It may have been at the airport, but th e police grabbed him and asked him why, and he told the cops it was because that was the enemy he had been fighting. That if it was 1945 and a someone had put up poster of Hitler they would have been put in jail.
The police officer didn’t arrest him, they just held him till it was time to put him on the flight home.
Mike ended up drinking himself to death before he turned 40.

I just don’t understand that there are very few calls, actually close to zero, here on TBP to not enlist. Or even refuse when the draft is reinstated, and take the consequences.

To me, that’s a huge blind spot.

Once you realize Vietnam was all about controlling heroin production, it make alot more sense…

I knew Jim from 6th grade – Catholic school and all that was – and he enlisted in the Army right from high school (’65). Special forces trained, he got to Vietnam and they soon discovered that he could shoot really well for very long distances … and next thing he knew, his CO was visited by folks who then took him into Laos and Cambodia and had him sniping anyone – civilian or military – who got in the way of their heroin operations.

As he eventually discovered, these folks were CIA, mossad and the Meyer Lansky crime syndicate … and they were the big cartel in SE Asia … it truly was, as you say, all about their drug operation … the whole damn thing … just like Afghanistan was, too …

I participated in that ugly mess directly under the umbrella of operation Phoenix. I can say it was about 1/3 of the reason we were there for sure. Nobody in the States seemed to notice the heroin scourge among the troops and among the youth back home coincided with our takeover of that trade from the Frogs. It provided the CIA with funding they didn’t have to grovel for in congress.
When that gig was up it was replaced by the cocaine/crack scourge but was the same actors. Many of their kids then reintroduced the heroin scourge when we took over Afghanistan and still nobody noticed. Those who did, disappeared or bad things happened to their families.

We found heroin in a raid in Iraq once and I was really surprised. The neighborhood over will string you up by your neck for drinking, but the next one to that we have seen dudes piss drunk in the street. The idiot captain tried to have one our guys sniff the heroin to see what it was. Thankfully he told the Captain to go pound sand.

Other than serving some vague Israeli interests, I still don’t know what we were fighting for in Iraq besides MIC profits.

Our first tour we spent mostly in Mosul and we thought we had stabilized it, got city services running, and given them a chance. We came back at the end of our second tour and it was a wasteland. If it looked like a war zone before, not it just looked destroyed. The local commanders didn’t want our kind in their AO, so they kicked us out to the desert where we wouldn’t cause problems for whatever racket they were running. We showed them up by finding all of their weapons and “terrorists” in the desert, before heading back home after almost 16 months in country. I was so messed up I didn’t even want to leave.

So much waste of humanity, hubris only goes so far. The lesson will never be learned as long as the military industrial medical pharmaceutical complex stands to make a dollar. My time in Vietnam was mostly off the coast with an attack squadron as a jet mechanic, flew into Da Nang for maintenance. I’ve listened to many vets frustrations upon return, the main conclusion I’ve come to, it was all a big shit hole laundering taxpayers money to make elites wealthy beyond they’re wildest dreams. The US government continues to carry on its’ ‘making the world safe for democracy’ tradition. It’s going to be a hard landing in the near future!

Just this past week, I read the following phrase that is a perfect definition of Vietnam:

“Projecting our moral superiority through machine guns”

Whether it is Asia, Europe, Africa, South America or the sand box, we go in with superior force and as the guy in the video says, we create enemies by our actions every single day.

We are no longer morally superior, have not been in a very long time and with each military action, we enrich a few at the cost of many. It is time to pull in our horns and recall our forces back to America. Let us reimagine our armed forces as a defensive unit that is comprised of a few professional warriors and mostly a militia of ordinary Americans who will be called upon to defend the country from enemies who invade our country.

This all sounds eerily similar to my experience in Iraq. Some of the motifs and details were changed, of course, but similar nonetheless.

My father in law is a Marine, Vietnam Veteran, with dementia that is almost certainly AO related and would allow for somecompensation, but he will stubbornly not apply for it, even when money is tight for them.

I think it is a combination of pride, of not wanting to admit that he was used and abused by his own government, and of always having been told that you should never mooch off of your country or to take checks that he would consider welfare.

My F-I-L , a decorated WWII bombardier, was blown away that the IRS would ass-rape him with an audit and lock up his entire business with a lien. He was shaking his head throughout the whole ordeal, crying ” but, I fought in the war”, as if that meant something to Uncle Schlomo, who needs that money to give to Israel. ha ha ha… and they called them the greatest generation….of suckers.

“a combination of pride, of not wanting to admit that he was used and abused by his own government” those 2 things kept me out of the VA for the first 5 years until my mother dragged me to the VA to get help and I was too weak to resist.

I was living in the same town in my own apartment, but she could see I was messed up.

This is what I’ve been saying for years. If our government tries this shit on us they will create millions of (vietcong) rebels that will eat them for lunch. The military of today is too “woke” to even be much of a fight. Their attrition rate will be horrific. Death by a thousand paper cuts…..

Rambo? No sequels for the novel protagonist was possible.

But never ending serial for the other protagonist, the one that engulfs all the other protagonists, is all that is possible.

Flea,

I haven’t written a poem on this subject in a long time.

Best to you my brother.

THOUGHTS ON THE NIGHTMARE

Dreaming that I dreamt
My life was spent
I stared at the memories of the human hell
I had been sent…
Into.

Are you happy now?
You MIC sons of bitches and daughters of witches
The past won’t hide
Tonight I’m back inside
Where you almost destroyed me…

You thought I was just a grunt cog…
But here is my eternal epilogue:

Revelation 21:4
‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Time is short…you of the MIC
Make your peace…or stay with the Beast?
The ones who fell…are dragging you to the ‘real hell’
And you don’t even know it.

Flea,

Yea…but I have been lurking when I come in to cool off, which is getting more frequent as the dog days are howling.

Pulled my left cheek ass muscle chasing a duckling two months ago…and the hitch in my giddy up is still slightly there. Old age an’t for pussies.

Got a new puppy who is a blast, I needed a farm buddy. Put 8 Peking ducks in the pond (more work than I thought it was going to be to keep them from becoming coyote dinner) but I had a double yoke duck egg for breakfast!

Them Chi Chom ducks get huge fast.

My three best buddies who are all of a like mind were over today for beers and a 3.5 hour discussion on our similar plans and preps.

Looks like the Luciferians are sharpening their pitchforks…A MONKEY POX ON THEIR HOUSE!
