Robot Murder Dogs Have Arrived

Via Mercola

Story at-a-glance

  • Warfighter solutions company Sword Defense Systems debuted its Special Purpose Unmanned Rifle, or SPUR, in October 2021
  • SPUR is designed to offer precision fire from robots, or “unmanned platforms,” including Ghost Robotics’ Vision-60 quadruped, which resembles a dog
  • Autonomous killer dog robots could quickly be rolled out not only for surveillance and defense purposes, but also for offensive maneuvers to impose fear and maintain control over a civilian population
  • Boston Dynamics, which manufactures a variety of quadrupedal robots, has addressed some of the inevitable privacy, civil rights and safety issues that come along with such technology, including prohibiting the weaponizing of any of their machines
  • The Stop Killer Robots coalition is working to ensure that humans maintain control in the use of force and are calling for international law to be developed on autonomy in weapons systems
  • Without action, the coalition believes that moral engagement and existing legal rules are at risk, as digital dehumanization expands

Have you seen the video circulating online showing a robot dog firing an assault rifle?1 The footage of the robot dog walking and shooting at various targets with a rifle attached to its back is chilling, but likely shows a “dangerous toy cobbled together by a Russian hoverbike startup guy,” according to The Verge.2

The YouTube video poster, Alexander Atamanov, has previously posted pictures of himself playing with what appears to be the same robot dog, sans rifle and seems to have a penchant for military equipment. “It seems far more likely he slapped a couple of his interests together, and less likely he’s seriously pursuing a weapon of war,” The Verge noted.3

However, while this particular armed dog-bot may not be cause for alarm, robot dogs with guns do exist, and they’re an ominous warning of what future combat scenarios may look like. In a worst-case scenario, robot murder dogs could also easily be used to impose fear and maintain control over a civilian population:4

“The world’s gradually coming to the realization that the technology really does already exist to turn robots into deadly weapons, and the really scary thought is that they could begin killing autonomously, if they haven’t already begun. It seems almost inevitable at this point, dog or no.”

Upon seeing the killer robot dog video, political writer James Melville tweeted, “The clocks are now striking thirteen,” referencing George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984.”5

Quadrupedal Robots and Unmanned Weapon Systems Are Here

Warfighter solutions company Sword Defense Systems debuted its Special Purpose Unmanned Rifle, or SPUR, in October 2021.6 Designed to offer precision fire from robots, or “unmanned platforms,” including Ghost Robotics’ Vision-60 quadruped, which resembles a dog, SPUR contains special sensors that allow it to be fired in varied conditions, including at night.

“The SWORD Defense Systems SPUR™ is the future of unmanned weapon systems, and that future is now,” the company writes on their webpage.7 The Vision-60 quadruped, meanwhile, is a dog-like robot billed as an “all-weather ground drone for use in a broad range of unstructured urban and natural environments for defense, homeland and enterprise applications,” according to Ghost Robotics.8 The company explained:9

“Even if the environment is completely unknown, vision sensors degrade or fail, you can be assured that when our legged robot does fail, slip or fall, it will get right back up and continue moving. Our goal is to make our Q-UGVs an indispensable tool and continuously push the limits to improve its ability to walk, run, crawl, climb and eventually swim in complex environments that our customers must operate in, day in and day out.”

Ghost Robotics states that it has more than 25 national security customers and has shipped more than 200 robots so far.10 It has partnered with companies in the defense industry as well as AT&T, Verizon, Amazon and Honeywell, among others.11

It’s easy to see how these autonomous dog robots could quickly be rolled out not only for surveillance and defense purposes but also for offensive maneuvers. “Details about the partnership between Ghost and Sword are unclear,” The Verge noted, “but Ghost’s quadrupedal robots are already being tested by the U.S. military.”12

Why One Robot Manufacturer Prohibits Weapons

Boston Dynamics, which manufactures a variety of quadrupedal robots, including the well-known Spot, has addressed some of the inevitable privacy, civil rights and safety issues that come along with such technology. Unlike many other robot manufacturers, they’ve prohibited the weaponizing of any of their machines.

One of their ethical principles states, “We will not authorize nor partner with those who wish to use our robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems. If our products are being used for harm, we will take appropriate measures to mitigate that misuse.”13 Further, while they state they will work with government, commercial and public customers, as well as lawmakers, they state that they are committed to complying with privacy and civil rights laws:14

“We will not authorize nor partner with those who wish to use our robots in a way that violates privacy and civil rights laws. We understand that emerging artificial intelligence technologies including computer vision and personal identification algorithms raise questions about the ethics, legality, and potential for bias around their use in the public sphere.”

Still, they believe that the next generation of robots will be partners that “will work amongst us,” creating human-robot partnerships.15 As far as killer robots go, otherwise known as lethal autonomous weapon systems, or LAWS, the U.S. government is on board with them. According to the Congressional Research Service as of December 1, 2020:16

“U.S. policy does not prohibit the development or employment of LAWS. Although the United States does not currently have LAWS in its inventory, some senior military and defense leaders have stated that the United States may be compelled to develop LAWS in the future if potential U.S. adversaries choose to do so.

At the same time, a growing number of states and nongovernmental organizations are appealing to the international community for regulation of or a ban on LAWS due to ethical concerns.”

Fourth Industrial Revolution: Robots Replace Human Workers

The First Industrial Revolution, which took place in the early to mid-1800s, brought in the use of steam power throughout the world. The Second Industrial Revolution took place from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, and involved progress in steel, electric and automobile industries.17

The Third Industrial Revolution, according to Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), “used electronics and information technology to automate production,” whereas the Fourth Industrial Revolution, he says, has already begun and “is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres.”18

It’s the further emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and integration with humans, and the use of robots in ways that have not previously been seen, or in some cases even imagined.

Kai-Fu Lee, author of the book “AI Super-Powers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order” and a former executive at Google China, said he believes there will be a rapid displacement of jobs as robots replace workers, and in the next 10 years so many jobs will be replaced that people will need to find happiness without working.19 Amazon has also stated that fully automated shipping warehouses, in which robots will replace humans fulfilling orders, may be just 10 years away.20

As part of their Jobs Reset Summit, WEF also stated that 50% of employees will require reskilling by 2025, “as the ‘double-disruption’ of the economic impacts of the pandemic and increasing automation transforming jobs takes hold.”21 WEF claims that 85 million jobs may be eliminated by 2025, while 97 million more may be created to address “the new division of labor between humans, machines and algorithms.”

But the reality is that only a fraction of people would likely find work in this robotic, AI-driven world, which would necessitate the introduction of a universal basic income.

This may initially sound like a good thing, but when your ability to earn an independent income is destroyed, you become dependent on, and at the mercy of, the elite that are in control of that income and the resources surrounding it. Universal debt forgiveness may also emerge — in return for the forfeiture of all rights to private ownership going forward. Bring in weaponized robot dogs and you have a recipe for tyranny.

Problems With Digital Dehumanization

There are many exciting robotics applications in the works, many of which could have a positive impact on society. For instance, a four-legged robot created by Boston Dynamics was tested at a Boston emergency room, conducting triage interviews with people instead of a human doctor.22,23

Most said the experience was similar to an in-person visit and even expressed openness to robots taking nasal swabs, inserting catheters, drawing blood and more.

The team is now working on smaller robots that would be able to interact with patients outside of a typical hospital setting, such as in an ambulance or field hospital, as well as developing sensors that could take vital signs remotely.24 However, the use of robots can have significant consequences, leading to digital dehumanization.

According to the Stop Killer Robots coalition, technology should be used for empowerment, not to reduce humans to “a pattern of 1’s and 0’s.”25 In addition to working to ensure that humans maintain control in the use of force, they’re calling for international law to be developed on autonomy in weapons systems. Without action, the coalition believes that moral engagement and existing legal rules are at risk, as digital dehumanization expands:26

“Machines don’t see us as people, just another piece of code to be processed and sorted. From smart homes to the use of robot dogs by police enforcement, A.I. technologies and automated decision-making are now playing a significant role in our lives. At the extreme end of the spectrum of automation lie killer robots.

Killer robots don’t just appear — we create them. If we allow this dehumanisation we will struggle to protect ourselves from machine decision-making in other areas of our lives. We need to prohibit autonomous weapons systems that would be used against people, to prevent this slide to digital dehumanisation.”

Engineer Claims AI Computer Achieved Sentience

As AI and robotics advance, humans are moving into uncharted territory, wherein the lines between humans and machines become blurred. According to Google engineer Blake Lemoine, an AI chatbot application called LaMDA, short for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, has achieved sentience, or independent self-aware consciousness.27

Google has dismissed Lemoine’s claims and placed him on paid administrative leave for breach of confidentiality, but there remains much debate over whether AI can become self-aware and evolve beyond human control. The potential for the world to take a very dark turn, especially in light of lethal autonomous weapon systems, would be immense, although many believe that AI is, and will likely remain, nonsentient.

A more urgent concern, at least for the time being, is the ongoing development of robots that are being used to kill. In what is likely only the beginning, in 2020, Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was assassinated using a “killer robot” — a machine gun attached to a robotic instrument equipped with AI and multiple camera “eyes,” which was operated via satellite.28

Reports also claim that weaponized AI-assisted drones may have acted autonomously and killed humans during the Second Libyan Civil War, in March 2020.29 As often occurs, technological advancement has outpaced humans’ ability to fully understand its repercussions, for better or for worse. Speaking the The Verge, Elke Schwarz, who’s affiliated with the International Committee for Robot Arms Control, explained:30

“In my work I try and show that the use of these types of systems is very likely to exacerbate violent action as an ‘easier’ choice. And … errors will very likely prevail […] which will likely be addressed only post hoc.”

It’s Terminator time, kiddies. We all suspected it and here it is.

Don’t think that the Evil Fuckers and their tools won’t use these horrible things against their enemies as well as people they find unpleasant at the drop of a hat.

Only God can save humanity from this demonic technotronic nightmare from this point forward.

This is what they want you to think, which is why they hav the retarded “Engineer Claims AI Computer Achieved Sentience” added onto everything lately. They want people scared of SkyNet so that no one cares about the way the technology already in use is increasingly monitoring and controlling them.

Nothing a Nr.3 Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum (United Kingdom) won’t cure. In conflict I think the robot controller would have great difficulty avoiding an ambush. I say bring it on – would be great fun and makes paint-gun games obsolete. At least drones can hide way up in the sky – these robodogs stand no chance IMHO.

Also, imagine how much more advanced they’ll be in 10, 20, 50 years. They don’t need to achieve “sentience”. As their programming becomes radically more complex, if they’re set loose programmed to make their own “decisions”, there’s no effective difference between pseudo-sentience and actual sentience.

AI has already progressed to the point of group collaboration/ data sharing. I’ve seen 100’s of drones all flying independently and in formation. They triangulate and hunt in groups or individually. It’s not something to dismiss lightly.

Any port in a storm though…and I’m glad I could get this on someone’s radar. You can also play with range and area of effect by simply using different waveform guides (broadcasting antennae). Basic math and electronics knowledge is all you really need. Nothing says you have to build just one…and they can be set as booby traps as well.

Hacker Finds Kill Switch for Submachine Gun–Wielding Robot Dog

“Good news!” d0tslash said on Twitter. “Remember that robot dog you saw with a gun!? It was made by @UnitreeRobotic. Seems all you need to dump it in the dirt is @flipper_zero. The PDB has a 433mhz backdoor.”…

Over on Github, d0tslash has shared their work and the code emulated from the remote. This should allow anyone with a Flipper Zero or similar device to shut down robot dogs without emulating the remote themselves.

I could build an arms carrying machine in my shop. It would need to be controlled remotely, but arming a piece of machinery is not a complicated task. Here’s a thought, if it can be done and man gets the “know how”, it will eventually be done. This is the reason why we can’t have nice things. We eventually use them to dominate and destroy our fellow man…. Gen 3:22 “Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.

5.56 is a varmint round. Not much different then a 22lr, way over rated round. Higher velocity yes, weight is almost identical. 40 grain vs 55 grain is not a lot of difference. 1240 fps vs 3200 fps both with a small grain. Good for killing coyotes not armor piercing. Start off with 308 or 7mm nothing smaller than that.

This is simply not true. At all. From what I have seen, that SS109 will just about go through anything .30 cal AP will. That M61 out performs but that is about it. The high velocity 3000 ftps and small sectional diameter .22 makes it an excellent penetrator.
The SS109 was the one all the Rangers bitched about in Mogadishu cuz it smoked right through the Skinneys and transferred no energy to fleshy targets, it was an over penetration problem.
Im no fan of the 223 either, varmit round, but that 62 grain green tip Light Armor Piercing shoots through just about anything, promise.

OMG give us a flippin break. This is no more than fear-mongering. Now get this; All robots are limited by their battery life and up to now they have all been used only for marketing and fear-mongering because their battery life will not afford their handlers the ability to use them for an extended period of time, and that won’t happen for decades.

Scientists and Engineers are so proud of their toys that they forgot to give credence to the long-term issues that will arise when humans may have to fight against them because the criminals among us will try and use them to control every aspect of our lives.

Centrally controlled robots such as in the Will Smith movie “I Robot” the central computer, (Vicky) took control and we all bought into it not even giving it any thought as to how those robots were powered. At this point, all of this is no more than an exercise in design over functionality. “Look, Look aren’t we clever, see what we’ve created”.

Humans are not actually binary as are robots, even though humans tend to think in binary terms, thus there is only Black or White to a robot, which cannot make judgments. The logic of having robots is that for humans to be able to interact with them, humans will also have to be robotized, and that my friends will not happen without destroying humanity as a whole !!!

I think most here know that making a robot sentient isn’t going to happen regardless of how good the algorithm is. The larger the programming code the better it gets at the features, known as bugs, infesting it and resulting blue screen of death…

Same with battery tech…

But what is revealing are the intensions…

While I think it will be a few years before we see actuality of any robotic “LAWS” running amok, we can be assured they are on that pathway. The wealthy ‘elite’ are pushing this as fast as they can, not only for militaristic intensions but for personal ‘safety’, as well. Robots don’t rest, take coffee breaks, can’t be bribed and barring a code hack won’t betray and turn on the owner, nor run away when they realize they are outnumbered and gonna die. Unlike human security…

Still are a serious deadly threat. Battery power is a weakness that can be exploited but so what if they need a recharge every 4-8 hours. Even the Borg need to rejuvenate everyday.
Military drones seem to work very well as killing machines. I think you underestimate the advancements with this technology.

Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) and Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) batteries have become very small and affordable, mainly driven by the mobile phone industry. This led to a wide adoption and today it is fair to say that the great majority of commercial unmanned aerial vehicles uses batteries as a power source (~96%).

If AI takes them over, it might just determine who the real enemy is and turn on its masters.

As crazy as it sounds, I would almost like to match wits with this elaborate can opener. It lacks one thing all modern AI lacks, true reasoning.

A robot “dog” designed to murder people. Oh, my. I’m speechless. But, Genesis 6:5 is not;

“The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only EVIL CONTINUALLY.”

I would like to think that the PEOPLE who invent this kind of shit will burn and be tortured in hell forever. However, I have no Scriptural bases for this hope.

There may not be any scriptural basis for your lack of hope, but then, maybe the scriptures are the reason mankind has been led astray from the old worlds ways and the truth may be found in the Sumerian texts and not the Biblical texts.

Sure there’s a basis for it! The vast majority of people who ever lived, are living or ever will live are going straight to Hell. Odds are good that your Godly hope will be fulfilled. There’s only one “out” and they reject it out of hand, so…burn baby burn.

Evil people in government are devising ways to enforce their will, when humans, with conscience, will not.

Under the category of low tech solutions to high tech problems, might I suggest everyone learn how to convert their microwave oven into a home made H.E.R.F. (High Energy Radio Frequency) gun. All you need is a cyclotron from your microwave, a suitable uninterruptible power supply, and a waveform guide. What you get is a directed energy weapon (DEW) effective against all but the most heavily shielded electronics. The applications are virtually endless.

Your ideas intrigue me. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

My buddy made a potato gun and used it to get rid of his wife. She thought he was so childish she divorced him. I’ll tell him to get working on a microwave gun in case he’s in danger of getting married again.

You could probably induce a heart attack with one to be quite honest. That would solve the wife problem. Seriously, this thing will shut down vehicles of all descriptions, fry computer electronics, and even roast internal organs if held long enough on target. It can disable night vision. It’s silent AND invisible…the beam, anyway.

Don’t have a news letter. I’m just a guy trying to pay it forward.

How much bull schitt do you think we’ll swallow? These things are developed to k i l l us, and we know it. I don’t think these robots can be killed/destroyed. They are made with artificial intelligent (fallen angel technology. the fallen angels never lost the abilities & knowledge that God gave them) metals that can rebuild THEMSELVES on the spot.
These AI robots can’t be destroyed even if bits are blown all over town, from what I hear. They have actually shown this on the X Files. They showed these things rebuilding themselves right in front of us. You can’t offer them a cookie or a bone, to go away. BEWARE OF THEM. DANGEROUS/DEADLY. And many of them look like humans but are not. Humans, animals, birds, you name it.

Impressive video technology but also I’d bet the farm this is a fake video. Others in the past were proven fakes. Notice the angle differences of the shadows between the fake robot dog and the target stands. Also the rapid, excessive leg movements would reduce battery time, very inefficient. A good length of rope or cable would easily defeat one of those even if they were real. A well placed shot would as well. Scare tactics.

Wonder how many posters here are degreed computer science people? Killer robots ARE here, and the only thing which will improve is their sophistication. AI will have any set of robots hunting as a pack, and infrared imaging will guarantee that any living thing can be detected (and killed). You have only seen the tip of the iceberg here.

I speak with some background in this technology and computer science. Not to belittle the lethal nature of these machines, but these machines will never for the foreseeable future match the wit, cunning, flexibility, adaptability and endurance of man. I would rather be hunted by 100 of these machines then 10 well trained athletic and determined humans. Most people don’t realize their potential instincts to survive until they do. Terminator movie type machines are along way off. I would fear flying drone swarms as the most lethal AI technology in existence., even they have exploitable vulnerability’s .

Right but they [ the evil ones] also show how easy it is to defeat these robot dogs. Put a blanket over them or something heavy over them as you do real dogs and cats to calm them down. These robots just freeze and don’t know what to do. There is video out there demonstrating this. I can’t remember what platform I saw it on but it was a demonstration.

For well over a decade I’ve sort of joked — I’ve been telling folks interested in home defense — many of whom merely meant dogs — that the Number One home defense would be a dog that could shoot …

Well — here’s proof-of-concept …

I’m glad my dog can’t shoot, he would be far more lethal than these machines. There would not be one safe UPS or FEDEX driver in existence.

This is only one facet of murderous drones — israelis and others are well along in the work of, for example, dropping tens of thousands of tiny drones from aircraft — programmed to human targets — eventually of specific racial or other characteristics.

These have the same vulnerability to defenses as humans. Barbed wire, pit traps, net traps, snares, fire, unstable footing(think cattle-guard style) really heavy things dropped from height,……

It is a new tool but little different to the mindless grunt/cop. Just no worries about it developing a conscience or screaming as it bleeds out.

Learn to code. Learn to disable. Learn to re-purpose.

When I was working as a divemaster in malta I took a client out diving for three days. First day we were going to do two different dive sites. From the shop to the first site chit chat was very limited, not much of a talker.

On the way to the second site, Blue Grotto, we were coming down the switch backs when he starts laughing. I’m looking but can’t see anything funny, but a boat coming back from the Grotto with people in it. He says, put a ring charge on that, set it off… boom. Boat gone and everyone taken off at the knees, disappears in five seconds. I asked what he did for a living… His reply… bomb disposal for the british army stationed in Belfast, going back for his third term after going back. greeeaatt…

Long story short I got three days of the ways the IRA kills soldiers and every kind of boobytrap deployed. Pressure plate bombs calculated to go off when a soldier carrying gear steps on it, infrared triggered bombs made from tv remotes, you name it the ira used it. People up against machinery will always find the weaknesses, machines cannot adapt to entanglements for example, which can be then dispatched by other means.

I’d take being hunted, and hunting, robots over being hunted by people too…. A ‘sentient’ robot would be an easy defeat but a VR controlled robots… that would be a different ballgame.
