This has been my whole argument about nukes: if they’ve been around for almost 80 years, don’t you think some fool, some desperate bastard, would have uncorked a few at his enemies by now? Especially in the Middle East?
Nuclear power plants are the same story, they’re the Sword of Damocles; a constant reminder of who really holds the cards (and whoever’s holding them has DT’s). But think it through: if you were building a nuclear power plant, and you already know it’s going to be a huge military target, potentially, would you put vital components above ground? And, moreover, did you miss the part a few months back about there being vast tunnels below Zaporizhye, which took Russia weeks to clear?
Now keep moving with this train of thought. If you did have this massive disaster-in-waiting sitting there, and knowing what could happen if/when shit meets fan, would you not, let’s say, have anything hazardous in another, safer location? Like, shall we posit, several meters underground? Or in another part of the city entirely?
It just doesn’t make any sense to have an open powder keg, no one would do that, it’s a stupid idea. The people who plan and staff these facilities are nuclear physicists, for the most part, and I’m pretty sure they go over this sort of thing in their physics classes (and if not, in their intelligence briefings for sure). I mean, they don’t just set nuclear bombs outside in the sun, do they, so the tour guides can show them off? I think not.
Finally, let’s take a look at cities which had so-called disasters*. Fukushima’s population before the meltdown, in 2010: 11,515. 2020 census: 11,505, though they claim that’s only because they’re still tracking the people they supposedly evacuated, and there are really only 2,578 people there now. Right. The fact anyone is able to live there not even 10 years on from an alleged reactor blowing up is remarkable. Chernobyl was liquidated and its remains cleansed, but no one lives there now, though the surrounding region does house 29,174 (at least before this latest madness over there). Not exactly a huge population, but again, if you had the choice would you park your ass next to a nuclear wasteland?
* – There have been other “accidents” worldwide, some involving nuclear submarines, but aside from Three Mile Island (which wasn’t a meltdown) Fukushima and Chernobyl are the most widely-known. And both were sabotaged.
