An Ill Wind

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Something ominously foul rides the late summer breeze as our country, and Western Civ with it, tilts into the season of growing darkness. Can you sense it? Death is in the air, and not in the usual Halloween vaudeville mode, either, with the cackling lawn zombies and top-hatted, tap-dancing skeletons. This ain’t no foolin’ around.

We have never been so unprepared for a calamity in plain sight and that is because the people who run things have made it happen in combined acts of wickedness and stupidity. After decades of mere racketeering, arranging things so as to bankrupt anyone who gets seriously ill, corporatized health care now presides over a harvest of medically-induced death, pretending dumbly that there is nothing to see.

Get this: the people are seeing it now, and talking about it, and there will be no stopping their discovery of exactly what has gone on, or their wrath in the afterwash. The chief architect of this epic debacle, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Captain Queeg of American Public Health, has announced his exit from the scene “to pursue the next chapter of my career.” He was coy about what that might be. I think the job title is: defendant. It will be a milestone in human history to witness The Science itself go on trial, should it live long enough. What awaits to take its place? Vizirs with wands and pointed hats? Crones riding broomsticks against a cold, lifeless moon? A principality of dark magic? Descent into the underworld?

The medically-induced termination of life at large scale accompanies the current effort to provoke the suicide of culture and nationhood — more orchestrated depravity and folly. Institutions are turned against us like flame-throwers. The FBI might break down your door next in its quest to suppress dissent. The composers of official mind-fuckery never sleep, assuring that you will not know which end of anything is up. Your purblind legislators just set 87,000 new IRS agents on your asses, as if that was any sort of a good idea. The courts exist to protect The Party, but which party? (What does it matter, at this point? quoth Hillary Clinton.) Take your pissant complaints about those alleged constitutional rights someplace else, like Twitter and Facebook, where they can be expunged as soon you hit the “post” button. You’ll be dead soon, anyway.

We’ve heard ad nauseam that the Washington DC insiders, the denizens of that demi-mythic Deep State in the wealthiest metro area of all the land, look down on the rest of America. Why is that? I’ll tell you. Because the DC confederacy of grifters has gotten fat off your suffering as they have systematically wrecked and looted that rest of America, the sinking middle-class. They are living in fabulous comfort off your bamboozlement and ruin. Their contempt for you grows on your tragic breakdown like fungus on a once-mighty fallen tree. They prevailed in this world and you didn’t. You chumps are in Palookaville on your way to the bone orchard, and therefore they are better than you, ha ha ha.

There is another side of this life, in case all that has got you demoralized. That is the side where human beings say things that comport with reality, where people mean what they say and use language as if it evolved to describe things and doings with some exactitude — as in this is this and that is that… and not the inverse or opposite. That is the side of life where pretending is not the highest-and-best use of human intelligence. I know, these days it’s hard to imagine that side of life, but it’s actually still there, waiting to be reanimated.

The regime that has turned our world inside out in its Satanic pursuit of comfort and power will be stripped naked and judged, if not by official judges, then by an unstoppable consensus. The sore-beset public will take an inventory of what has been lost and begin reconstructing a scaffold of shared life that rewards fidelity to the way things actually work. It will be a rough passage out of what amounts to a hostage crisis. There will be friction and heat. You will not be comfortable, but you will be dauntless. You will certainly not have nothing or be happy about that. You will have, at least, a restored memory of what it was like to strive honorably for a life worth living.

We’re in the crucible of all that just now, where everything is white hot. Do not bend or melt. Soldier through. Be men and be women (there is truly nothing in-between, and do not fall for faithless inducements to doubt that). You are brothers and sisters in an enterprise worth saving and you have a history worth defending. Believe it.

Really. Viziers was spelled wrong and used in an unusual context since vizier does not elicit anything supernatural, such as, the hollywood Merlin. And this is only one instance of the author trying to be more than he is. I’ve read his crap. He’s a deceiver among the children of wickedness but forms his essays with the stench of deceit as if he’s one of the unwashed masses. That’s how “they’ve” always done it by building relationship conduits between the people and the hidden hand. The conduits are all on the take and care nothing for you.

If you don’t know who you are or who your enemy is, you will lose every battle. The masses lose because of ignorance and they apparently like ignorance because they keep returning to the liars, but the children of wickedness lose to a long-awaited Mighty vengeance.

What is wrong with a “beer belly”? Around here the hanging belly is a way of life for men and women even if not partaking of beer. Fried foods on a daily basis will do that to a person also. Eat what you want.

The hanging belly makes me laugh though. Many of the policemen and sheriffs deputies here obviously have indulged in an overabundance of fried catfish, hush puppies, French fries, quick burgers, chicken fired steak with mash potatoes with cream gravy. Dang, those are delicious foods.

It’s unfortunate though when those , not all btw, that are supposed to serve and “protect” nurture those bellies to the point they cannot see their shoes while standing and looking down not to mention inability to touch the toes while standing. 300 pounders are common here. Poor people. 🙁

I worked with a funny man from Jordan. I have a habit of asking “what do you think?”, perhaps in managing something work wise. His reply would be, “I try not to. It hurts my brain”. This in a Middle East accent. Funny individual though. he could never pronounce “H” in proper English, it was always like “ech”.

Let’s remember the worst one of all too:

There WAS A LOT of talk of camps, and some/much came from (criminals posing as) officials and former (criminals posing as) officials.

I and others at my small business honestly believed there was a decent probability that the camps would come to fruition and we would be thrown into them because there was no way any of us were submitting to that bullshit.

Now THAT is terrorism. A good, strong, daily dose for 2 fucking years.

Yes I remember all of it and how those who opposed and questioned “The Narrative” were called everything under the Sun in an unprecedented effort to marginalize us, and free thought and inquiry in general. Huge numbers now realize they were hosed but are still too afraid to say “hell yes” the questioners have been vindicated and proven right.
They began attacking the rebels with numerous underhanded assaults and charges culminating with an assault on the home of a previous President which may have been to discover just how much evidence he was privy to regarding THEIR crimes against him and the nation. I see they even arrested Gavin McInnes during a live broadcast yesterday although I can find very little info about it. Again, they have been exposed and caught lying and obfuscating about virtually everything.
One would think they would have to give it all up. They will not. They will take up new, more severe increasingly evil criminal tactics.
Them or us folks. Watch the flanks and keep your head on a swivel.

Can anyone explain how Vox Day is wrong on the student debt?

Shut Up, He Explained
I put up a post on Gab attempting to explain to Boomercons that eliminating student loan debt was not inflationary. I was unsuccessful, on the basis of the 193+ replies.

Dear Boomercon,

Eliminating student loan debt is not inflationary. It cannot be inflationary, because in a credit economy, cancelling debt reduces the quantity of credit money in the system.

This is intrinsically deflationary.

Love,
Vox

So, because I am a kinder, gentler Dark Lord, I decided to helpfully explain to this woefully ignorant souls the nature of credit money and how it relates to the monetary phenomena known as “inflation” and “deflation”.

Dear Gab commenters,

The undeniable fact is that I know considerably more about economics, debt, and credit money than you do. Not only am I an economist by training, but I correctly predicted the 2008 financial crisis and I am the author of the labor mobility refutation of free trade.

Frankly, most of you appear to be functionally retarded where economics are concerned. So, I will type very slowly in order that a few of you might be able to follow along.

Most money is debt and it comes from nowhere. It is not printed by the government, it is literally created from nothing when a loan is taken out. This is inflationary. When a loan is cancelled, forgiven, or written off, the debt literally vanishes. This is deflationary, since it reduces the amount of money in the economy.

If the loan is paid off, either by the debtor or by a third party, then no money leaves or enters the system. It is a neutral action. If interest is paid on the loan, this is mildly inflationary but trivial at current interest rates.

That’s literally how debt money works, and if you don’t understand why L.1 is bigger and more important than the M1 money supply, then please stop sharing your opinion on the subject of student loans because you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

Love,
Vox

Regardless, it would be economically neutral at worst, and the student loan practice is predatory and immoral. In other words, the rhetoric of everyone having to pay for this policy of debt forgiveness is factually wrong.

The only real downside of it is that it fails to punish the lenders, but government backed lending always has this flaw.

Ken, it isn’t neutral. That money created from thin air was transfereed to someone who bought assets with it. It was spent into the economy and the assets were actually paid for by the devaluing of preexisting dollars. That is the object of printing press money,to steal money from those who have produced value.

OK.
But cancelled loans are considered taxable income by the IRS in the year they are cancelled (I posted the link in another topic), so what happens when the tax bill comes due for these loan write-off recipients? Seems even more deflationary, as they have less disposable income after taxes.

He is wrong because student loan debt is not owed by students to the Federal Reserve, it is owed to the Federal Government which borrowed it from the Federal Reserve in the form of an IOU.
If that IOU from the Federal Government to the Federal Reserve were paid off (i.e., if the national debt were paid down by ~$1T), that would be deflationary.
Is that going to happen?
The only place the Federal Government could get the money to pay down that debt is from taxes.
Are they going to raise taxes by an amount equal to this “forgiveness”?
No money is removed from the money supply unless and until money imagined into existence by the Fed is paid back, with interest, TO THE FED and without an immediate subsequent loan of new money.

If we were talking private loans, it might seem that paying them off would be deflationary (eliminating money created by fractional reserve lending); but the money still is coming from fedgov, which means it’s either from increased taxes or from new money imagined into existence by the Fed.

The answer to whether it’s deflationary can be answered by looking at the National Debt.
https://usdebtclock.org/

You let me know when you see that sucker stop, and start going down.

There is no deflation. There is only temporarily less inflation mis-labeled as “deflation”.

You are correct on the big picture. But student loans are not necessarily loaned by the gov’t. They are instead guaranteed by the gov’t. They are loaned by the banks. So if a bank creates your loan, they create the money. If you pay off the loan, the money goes poof.

The base problems with debt-based money is that the money to pay the interest on the debt is never created by the loan. So it is a ponzi scheme that always results in the transfer of real assets to the originators of the debt.

Who said they’re eliminating student load debt a/k/a defaulting on it?
They’re not.

They are printing money to pay off some of the creditors for student debt, i.e. the debt then just ends up on someone else’s balance sheet.
Which may be more to the benefit of the creditors, as how much of that student debt will ever be repaid (or even just the interest continuously paid), as things stand?

Bingol! You win the prize. The debt is just swapped to the government balance sheet in return for federal reserve notes.

If the student actually paid the government loan to the government. That would act like a tax and be deflationary!

What you fail to mention though, is in the real world, most people live at the maximum of their credit limits. Paying off student loans will simply free up $10K of credit that most recipients will will promptly go right out and spend, which is inflationary, and the entire incentive for FJB to be doing this in the first place .
Psychologically, people who may be hesitant about making purchases in this current economy will feel more secure about taking on more debt because of this windfall.

Let “his nibs” explain exactly how the debt will be retired/paid.

Inflationary: If the gov’t is gonna borrow or print money to “pay off” the debt, then it will be inflationary, simply because the money and bureaucracy used to pay off the debt, will need their own portion of extra cash for expenses of the program, and/or interest on the new debt created to retire the old debt.

Deflationary: If the creditors are just stiffed, and the debt is not paid, but written off, then it will be deflationary. If then loans are paid off by the debtors, then it is also deflationary, since the money created to create the debt is wiped out when the debt is paid. It is not a wash.

Vox would do a lot better to try to explain things, rather than just attempt to declare his genius. I think he looks like a fool here.

Who is this “we”, with a history to defend?

History, the mainstream narrative taught in school, is a pack of indefensible lies that bend one’s will to support leaders who have walked in circles through all of history, constantly proclaiming a new landscape around the corner.

What is to come will be a soul-scorching path to clarity; there is no tribe to ‘tribe-up’ with to safely transit tour 4th turning. It will turn everyone against each other; nobody will be able to read a their inner compass to find shared truth, especially the leaders who will appear to be capable of creating prosperity out of our ruin. They won’t.

We will each have our own Sisyphus stone to roll up a an unknown mountain. Deep desperation will waft across this nation. Digging out from under it will require everyone to shovel away their suspicions of genuine smiles on the rare occasions they appear.

The institutions that govern all nations are built on sands of deceit. The tide is coming in, and the next promise of Hope and Change will be as empty as the last.

4 people were just killed in a shoot-out in Tucson when sheriffs tried to serve an eviction notice. I expect this sort of thing to increase. I also think it may be increasingly difficult for our overlords to find enough willing foot soldiers to protect their interests. A lot of cities are having trouble recruiting police officers, and any cop who has enough time in to retire is probably thinking of bailing. Many have already. Being a cop is a relatively well paying way to make a living, and there is the lure of early retirement, but as Josie Wales said, “Dying ain’t much of a living.”

He told me to get back in the car while he investigated. He said some people run from him. I told him I hadn’t been stopped by anybody in 25 years and he said that’s how old he was. I said at 77, I’m probably not going to out run even you. He was kind of hefty. Told me I hadn’t signaled at the last two turns. Possible. I was in a hurry. Anyway, he just gave me a verbal warning. I was telling my daughter about it, later, and she said he was on the radio, she has a scanner, earlier having a contest with a co-worker seeing who could write the most tickets. Anyway, like you said, showed him my license and insurance and he moved on. Stress. Not these cops around here. Doesn’t seem to be, anyway.

Guess I’m referring more to law enforcement in the bigger cities as being stressed. However , I do use caution anywhere especially these days of militarized police forces even in smaller towns as evidenced by one smaller town in the area whose city council was discussing funding for a swat team. I don’t know what became of that. Let’s face it, “psycho” is a common trait EVERWHERE and the human “need” to control others also everywhere. Just because a small town may appear to be “laid back”, rest assured there are those that have been “trickled down” the concepts of authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and jack booted thuggery I don’t care what “political label” they subscribe to.

That dude must have been on drugs. And one never knows when they are being watched. Don’t forget to signal.

Auntie loves JHK’s newfound religion. Calling the ship of state the USS Satanic is the real deal. Had to have been a painful reality check that triggered Jim’s conversion from NYC effete lib Democrat to clear-eyed cynic of all things politic.

What was his “Come To Jesus” moment?

He’s not clear eyed.
He still maintains a good portion of libtard mentality.
But better than before.

His writing is just fantastic, so Auntie gives the gentleman lots of room to maneuver.

I think the job title is: defendant.

Wishful thinking.

What people need to understand is that the plan is to completely control and enslave you, and the plan is being rolled out with amazing speed and success.
High housing, energy, and food prices will be followed by UBI and government subsidies on necessities. The availability of these subsidies will be predicated upon your social score.
That in a nutshell is the plan. That is why the economy is being intentionally sabotaged along with the energy and food supply. This plan is being rolled out on a world wide scale.
They will soon outlaw people producing and selling food on all levels without government controls. Energy will be rationed, along with food.
If you refuse to take the mandated “vaccines”, you will be ineligible for the subsidies. If you post criticisms of government or disagree with their propaganda you will lose your “government assistance”.

Klaus Schwab and the globalists believe that people having self determination has been a failure and that their plan to centralize control over the masses will work because the masses have neither the intelligence or the intestinal fortitude to stand up for themselves.
The sad thing is that up to now, they have been correct. The fact that Joe Biden is in the White House and Nancy Pelosi control Congress is proof that as a people we do not have the intelligence to govern ourselves.
I am very pessimistic about the future. I realize that if they are able to keep giving people free shit, that the people will march themselves into their prison cells and hand the globalist the keys.

Buy stock in Nissin foods. I was noticing the sales of ramen noodles are up like crazy. I’m not joking, I see people buying them in big packages everywhere I go. Toss in a hotdog or a slice of bologna and you have the new American meal. Good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can even get it in a cup with your corn and carrots inside. I guess it is Biden that is making America great again. All those well educated people can take their new found $10,000 of debt relief and eat like a king. Thanks Biden, you are the new “king of the free shit army”, a true hero to the American people.
