As far as tip experience…I was a bartender twice…once from 71 to 72 (I was 21/22) in an Edison NJ Rt #1 Highway Bar… ‘Gracie’s Blue Haven Inn Bar and Motel’ next to a Southern Run truck stop.

During my 71/72 tenure there were too house ladies who used the motel…mostly with the Truckers.
When I was 15 and 16 I spent those two summers painting the motel and taring the roof…that is how I got the job (under the table) after I came home from Nam and the Marines.
$125 an hour, all the hotdogs I could eat…and the tips were TREMENDOUS for the era.
I mean some weeks I was stunned on the money I was making…let alone the women who would slip me their phone number written on the inside of a matchbook cover.
The second bartending experience was in 78…I was married with a one year old…had just bought a starter home, needed some extra cash, was working full time 2nd shift…and opened a neighborhood beer and a bump blue collar bar from 6 am to noon. Tips were ok…but nothing like the wild days.
