The Ever Widening War

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

When it comes to Russia, Republicans are no more supportive of Trump’s goal of normalizing relations with Russia than are Democrats.  Both parties receive campaign contributions from the military/security complex and intend to continue receiving those contributions that otherwise would go to opponents to their re-election bids.

AntiWar.com reports that key Republicans are pressuring the Biden regime to send Ukraine Gray Eagle drones, F-16s, and missiles with 190 mile range, twice the range of the 94 mile missiles Biden is sending. https://news.antiwar.com/2023/02/06/republicans-pressure-biden-to-send-more-advanced-weapons-to-ukraine/

As I correctly predicted, the Kremlin’s never-ending war is systematically widening the war week by week.  The Kremlin’s unwillingness to use the required force to bring the conflict to a quick victorious close has the world on the path to nuclear war.

The fighting is still an inch by inch, a village by village slog with the private Wagner Group still carrying the bulk of the fighting.  https://southfront.org/northern-donbass-front-lines-moving/

The Russians still haven’t pushed the Ukrainians far enough back to prevent Ukraine from continually shelling the city of Donetsk, capital of the Donetsk Republic prior to reabsorption into Russia. So despite Putin’s statement that Russia would never again fight on its own territory, Russia is fighting on its own territory, not on Ukraine’s. There is still no sign of any Russian effort to knock Ukraine out of the war. Russian troops on the ground are confined to a small area in SE Donbass.

The Kremlin’s slow war is leading to more direct conflict between Russia and the West.  A failure of vision and judgment this extreme has never before occurred in the history of warfare.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that if Washington gives Ukraine weapons with a 94 mile range, Russia will have to push Ukraine back another 94 miles. At the inch by inch rate that Russia is advancing, that would take until 2050, by which time the world would have expired in nuclear war.

The Kremlin has made a mistake and is now too wedded to its mistake to let go of it.  As the record clearly shows, Washington will not permit Russia a “limited military operation” and has succeeded in widening the war, involving both itself and NATO.

I told you mooks that this wouldn’t be over quickly and that you would not enjoy this.

Believe me now?

Also? I still remember you telling me that NATO would never get involved in Ukraine…Paul.

With the “revelation of the method” of the Nordstream bombing coming out yesterday, it’s time for Russia to blow up Norway’s gas pipelines to Europe and sink a few US LNG tanker ships. Let’s get this world war started already!

KJ,
Asking for a friend, is it too late to go on vacation?

Sending Nato warplanes would be a very serious and deadly escalation. There is a whole suite of AWACS circling the skies of eastern Poland and Romania gathering information about air-traffic over Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. No doubt these planes are feeding real time information to the regime in Kiev. But seeing as the Zelensky cabal are not officially in NATO the West can claim one degree of separation between those planes flying in circles and the boots on the ground. However if NATO standard warplanes are sent those planes, the bases they fly from become a legitimate military target because those planes would be able to connect in real time for targeting information..

A stray missile gets fired from a MIG-31 and the game is afoot for real this time.

This plane would be quickly distributing information on the ground..

When your enemy is hemorrhaging its not wise to patch him up so you can continue to fight. Pretty sure Russian generals don’t dress in frillies and DO know what they are doing, unlike some pundits

I imagine that like Russia, China, and N. Korea are on a 24/7 war productions schedule given the current state of relations with the US. I would also imagine that all three understand that they must consider any attack on any of them an attack on all of them. It would take the combined capabilities of all to stand up against the US, but the loss of any one of them would subjugate the other 2 to being dominated by the west. N. Korea, due to the close distance, has shown the ability to launch missiles over both Japan and S. Korea with both being apparently unable to defend against them. That means N Korea has the ability to basically neutralize both countries should war break out.
N. Koreas submarine fleet, while being mostly older units is one of the worlds largest with near 80 subs. In addition, it has the ability to basically shell S. Korea to rubble with its artillery’s alone.
The destruction and denial of bases in Japan and S. Korea would negate the US ability to use aircraft in the theatre in any meaningful way, while anti ship missiles would keep US ships at bay.
