Bahkmut is still contested the Ukrainian military is not encircled and the Russians have failed miserably to advance anywhere along the line……..Their offensive has failed.
Will the Ukrainian counter-offensive succeed and retake territory….well I don’t know and really don’t care my point is the folks here who gargle Putin’s testicles…..well you are just wrong. Russia has shown how totally inept they are tactically, strategically and most importantly logistically. They simply can’t execute combined arms maneuver warfare at a rudimentary level…… Sorry, they are an artillery-based force that would be annihilated by the US in a direct fight….. and is being crushed by half-assed Ukrainians, some Western equipment, and a little satellite intel.

Just where can one get an accurate assessment of Russia’s performance, who actually knows what it is other than Russia? And they unlike the USA don’t feel the necessity of telling anyone. Doesn’t seem to be any outrage coming from the Russian people, and other countries are getting inline to deal with them. But then that is my personal assessment from what little video one can see on Telegram and bitchute.
Where are all these tanks that are being promised like thirty will change the course of the war? What about the miracle Javelins? Oh if they only had F-16s. Wars are won when the opponent can no longer fight and capitulates and your troops hold their ground……..and any map you look at shows Russia stalled and unable to advance……sorry facts matter. Let me know when Russia is holding a victory parade in Kiev. I know of folks here relate strongly to the Austrian corporal so this is what (temporary) victory looks like

well…..once Russia starts to lose Crimea and Russian territory as could happen in a couple of months…..then what? Nukes? NATO fucked up expanding west and using Ukraine like the whore it is……and Russia being paranoid (with plenty of provocation) attacked Ukraine but did it so ineptly that it opened a window for the US to give them the old Afgh treatment….again! If they had taken Kiev in a week……this would have all been over months ago…….but the Russkies failed miserably.
the Russians have no intention of fighting for Kiev, why would they? What is the upside? they’ll be responsible for whatever civilian population remaining. Half the Ukraine population from 2000 is still living in Ukraine.
Yeah, Russia is emptying most of NATO arsenals (airforce still to be done; navy surface fleet are just sitting ducks anyway), without even being in an official war with NATO! Total failure on the Russian side, I agree.
And if they had taken Kiev in a week, all Ukrainian fighters would have handed over all their weapons and returned to a peaceful existence for the rest of their lives, US and NATO would have conceded defeat and accepted the new map without ever trying to stoke/arm any partisan movement, and everything would have been fantastic for Russia.

All public sources but I have been to the region many times and met many of the leaders at least superficially. The Ukrainians are the most corrupt folks I have ever met…..they make African colonels look like paragons of virtue……I was really shocked in the 1990s on my first trips to the former USSR…..all of their military shit sucked……not well maintained and very crudely designed compared to our tech at the time. Since then it has only gotten worse. Russians are not bad people but they think very differently than westerners. They care a lot less about personal freedom than we do….they like a strong man leader like Vlad. He is no genius he is just a thug who took power did the minimum to move the country forward and made billions in the process. He is in now a death trap…he can’t win and he can’t retreat…….so I don’t see how this ends without a nuclear exchange and China ending up with half of Russia.
And the USG has given the Russians the best opportunity since the USSR to motivate their population and MIC to thrive. That is the real generational cost, along with the economic disaster hoisted upon the EU states (FRG in particular), and us AmeriKans. Oh!? …that is some of the weakest cogitating that I’ve read in a long time at TBP. You’re burping up every wet turd being fed to the Western denizens. The Russians aren’t fighting for territory beyond the newly acquired territories. They didn’t even intend on acquiring the Dombas at the outset. The Russians believed that the Ukrainians would negotiate early on. And they did negotiate until their pimps in DC/London put a stop to the negotiations in April 22.
The Russians were not prepared for a red hot war and their low troop deployment (Regulars) in Feb22 would bare out that assertion. They were still relying primarily on the militias in Luhansk and Donetsk. The Russian gov’t was pretty open about what they sought; demilitarization of Ukraine, no NATO membership, and neutrality.
All of those objectives are well on the way to becoming reality. Guess what also is now a reality? Those four territories are now Russian Federation territory, and probably Ukraine ceases to exist East of the Dneiper River. I can well envision that USkraine retreats all the way back to Galicia, except that the Poles smell blood and their opportunity to reclaim Galicia as their own. The Russians have fought the classic tactic of war by attrition, whilst the USkrainian gov’t believed they could fight a war of maneuver. They lost the war in March 2022, regardless of their temporary gains in Kherson and Kharkiv…at great losses in man and materiel.
The Russian and Ukrainian history is more intertwined than Americans are from Maine and Alabama. The Russians have not denigrated their Slavic brothers and sisters publicly. Quite the contrary. Many households in both countries have relatives from both countries.
