The US and its allies are “playing with fire” by doubling down on their support for Kiev amid the conflict with Moscow, including by planning to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
“Of course, it’s an unacceptable escalation” Lavrov said regarding potential deliveries of American-made warplanes to Kiev in an interview with Russia 1 TV on Sunday. “I think there are reasonable people in the West who understand this. But everything is being dictated by Washington, London, and their satellites inside the EU.”
According to the minister, it is Poland and the Baltic States – Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia – that are “executing on the ground the aim set by the US to weaken Russia, deliver it a strategic defeat.”
Some in the West “are already discussing ‘decolonization’ of Russia, meaning the dismembering of our country,” Lavrov said, warning that “this is playing with fire. There can be no doubts about that.”
“I hope reasonable people will step away from unconditional support for the neo-Nazi regime that the West itself created,” he added.
The foreign minister suggested that the words of the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, who acknowledged earlier this week that “in the near term,” Ukraine will not be able to recapture the territories it lost to Russia, were a “step forward to understanding the reality on the ground.”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been pressing his Western backers for F-16 warplanes for months, arguing they are crucial for defending Ukrainian airspace amid Russia’s missile campaign targeting military facilities and energy infrastructure.
At the G20 summit last week, US President Biden Joe Biden said that Washington would support efforts by the UK, the Netherlands, and other European countries to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated at the event that the US “will work with our allies to determine when planes will be delivered, who will be delivering them, and how many.”
Several outlets reported that the jets will not be provided by the US, but that the Biden administration would instead allow its allies to transfer their F-16s to Kiev.
Moscow has repeatedly warned that deliveries of more sophisticated weapons to Ukraine by the US and its allies could cross its ‘red lines’, leading to a major spike in the hostilities. Russia has said that the provision of arms, intelligence sharing, and training to Kiev’s troops makes Western nations de facto parties to the conflict. (RT)

Nobody talks about the kinetic energy of a hypersonic……ummm,yeah……
They used to talk about “rods from God” all the time but not lately. The titanium spears or giant arrows that could be delivered via aircraft or even from low orbit. No explosives, just the kinetic energy of the spear hitting. I imagine it would also be exceptionally hot from the speed.
From what I read, the hypersonic phase of a “hypersonic missile” occurs when it’s at maximum altitude, and descending. As it drops toward its target, increasing air friction drops its speed to merely Mach 2 or 3 and, as it loses its heat-induced plasma “shield”, the missile becomes radar-detectable (again). The target gets somewhere between five and thirty seconds to react.
I have to question Russia’s “concern” over F-16’s. I’m not convinced they still see them as a serious threat, which means they also are playing a game. A game they’ve been one step ahead in at every point along the way.
The problem is that the US thinks they are still a legitimate threat to Russia, which makes the intended threat all the more ridiculous. When Russia strikes, it will be the time and place of THEIR choosing, not ours.
The Russians have been engaged in what started as political dialogue with the globalist elite under the guise of the UN and NATO regarding Ukraine for more than a decade.
It is entirely reasonable to consider the Ukraine imbroglio is meant to exhaust the already feeble United States and Western Europe to allow the balancing of the poles of power globally.
Russia has issued numerous warnings regarding the obvious provocations the west has, for a decade and more, laid upon the people of the region. The west ignored dialogue, leading to the retrieval of Georgia, South Ossetia and Crimea, followed by the Special Military Operation in Ukraine, done to protect the Russians in eastern Ukraine and thwart the placement of NATO read US offensive weapons on a border less than five hundred miles from Moscow.
Another warning, another escalation. At some point the gloves will come off. If the Russian elite is playing the globalist game the destruction will fall on Western Europe and the US. If not, the destruction will fall on the US, the primary military and economic backer of the puppet government in Ukraine.
Depopulation, deindustrialization and centralized control of all people and things by the global elite is the apparent goal of the current overlords.
A recent public report about the Storm Shadow missile pointed out the range of the missile when launched from the ground compared to the range when launched from the air. I don’t recall the numbers but the difference was quite significant.
As a strategic nuclear missile launch platform those F16s don’t even have to cross the border to attack Moscow. That makes them a gravely dangerous threat to the existence of Russia.
Would we tolerate nuclear capable Russian aircraft stationed in Quebec? Of course not.
