Jesus and the Sleeping Disciples

Guest Post by Todd Hayen

Shouldn’t we not rest until every man, woman, and child alive on earth has a roof over his or her head and food to eat and clean water to drink? Wasn’t that what Jesus was getting at? At the very least? But no, that has never even been close to happening.

People, for the most part, do not live their lives “in service” to the greater good. They don’t survive on the minimum and give the excess to the poor. They don’t focus their creativity, their fortitude, and their industry, on saving the world from despair. In fact, for the most part, they do the opposite. Me included. Forgive me Father, for I have sinned…as most of us have.

I do give to charity, and some years it seems like quite a lot, but I do not sacrifice. And if I really was “putting on the mind of Christ” I would not even see it as a sacrifice. As long as there is even one starving mouth out in the world, I should not get a penny more than I need to stay alive myself.

“Whoa, righteous bucks, man!” Yep. Who the hell am I to point the finger? Well, I don’t consider this as any sort of finger pointing. I am really only asking a question. How can we really complain about the world’s inequities, God’s seeming blindness to our needs, the “unfairness” of life when it is completely in our power, our individual power, to change the lives of countless human beings with the snap of a finger?

I am not necessarily saying it is our duty to change our ways and live in a cardboard box under the freeway so we can feed starving children in Africa (or wherever they may be) but really, why do we blame God, or even other people, for all the suffering in the world, including our own, when we have so much power to do something about it all ourselves?

I’ll say it again, I am not proposing anything—I am just making an observation. We can keep on living the way we are living, where those of us in the middle to upper classes in the West have 90% of the world’s wealth—but if we do that, we should stop complaining—at the very least.

It is interesting to note, and of course this is a guess, that if we saw everyone in the world the same way we see our immediate family, and if we were basically decent people (that could be a stretch depending on who I am addressing!) then we probably would make sure our immediate family (the entire world in this hypothetical) was at least well fed. Why is it that we don’t do that?

Well, it surely has to do with the way our basic psychology is wired—tribe mentality and all that. We also have a pretty complex wiring around self-preservation, and somewhere through time that wiring has tricked us into thinking that having a new Mercedes Benz in the driveway is “self-preservation.”

This is no joke. I honestly believe that human beings are wired to believe the most mundane, and superfluous, of material possessions are required not only for pleasure and happiness (which is a given) but also for survival—literally. Neither is true.

That’s pretty weird.

We also seem to be wired to cut our empathic connection completely off if the space between our empathic subject and the empathizer (us) is beyond a certain distance, both physically and emotionally. Empathy is one of the tenets of psychological health, but it really has a very limited range, if it exists at all with the modern human. (I am curious to know if primal cultures had an empathic sense that is equivalent to what we expect in modern times.)

Obviously these points developed evolutionarily to end up at the state they are now—basic disconnection with other human beings on the planet if they are too far away—too far away in physical distance as well as too far away in a variety of other aspects.

Going back to the title of this article. Is that what Jesus meant when he said “stay awake for me, I am just going over here to pray” (paraphrasing Matthew 26: 36-46). Jesus asking the disciples to stay awake for “only an hour” is a metaphor for how quickly we forget there are other humans in the world worse off than we are, the disciples falling asleep and “forgetting what Jesus asked from them” while he “went over there to pray” is a metaphor for “how quickly you forget if I am not within your immediate presence.”

In Luke 22:57 Peter denies even knowing Jesus, which is another example of “out of sight out of mind.” Of course there is more to it than this in the Bible, but you can see how it relates to my point. We are basically designed to ignore or forget anything that is uncomfortable for us. We are pain resistant and comfort motivated.

Of course everything I am saying here is materially driven (not the quotes from the Bible, they were presented only as an illustration of human behaviour). The problem I am presenting regarding starving children and our world suffering due to a multitude of grievances, is a problem that exists primarily because the rich people of the world (which includes us from a relative perspective) are too greedy to share the wealth.

As I said earlier, our “system” believes having the Mercedes in the driveway is equivalent to the discovery of a stash of grubs or a bucket of honey in an old tree trunk that could sustain the family or the tribe through the winter. And if you shared this bounty with the folks over the hill, you would surely die. Today we tend to see opulent wealth as a means to basic survival, which it certainly is not. Our drive to acquire “things” beyond what we need is hardwired because we have been brainwashed to believe everything we want, we need.

So what do we do? Well, as you know, I usually don’t supply top down solutions. I might suggest a bottom up solution, but they are usually too simple and are really only useful during the days following the holocaust when the entire world is destroyed and only six people have survived.

That said, I do think we can all be a little more aware of what we are dealing with. It may help to be kinder to those in need—maybe pay more attention to the homeless people asking for a handout, or be more generous with other charitable donations.

That is indeed “top down” problem solving, but as with lots of top down stuff, if practiced tirelessly, change of deeper systems that really do make a difference do occur over time. We need to prepare for the new world approaching, and I don’t mean the WEF’s New World Order, I mean the real new world—the beautiful and vibrant new world left behind after the smoke clears and the floods recede. It will indeed come, and for that world, God’s intended world, we must be prepared.

Charity begins in the home.

I just gave my son $30k towards his first house purchase.

I will not donate money to charities–most of them skim up to 90% off the top for their “administration” fees.

I will give hard goods (canned food, clothing, etc.) to Goodwill or church pantrys.

I am free to spend my income on whatever I want, whether it’s a Mercedes or my 2023 Corvette.

I am sick of people telling me to stop eating meat, that I am contributing to fake global warming, and to accept LGBTXYZ bullshit.

Leave me the fuck alone.

Karl Denniger makes a good point on entropy. In life you can’t win , only lose more slowly.

That Mercedes in the driveway is costing you time. Time that could have been used to vigorously exercising your body. (Think of your body as a rechargeable battery). You will maintain more muscle mass over time to enable you to store more energy. In the end your rechargeable battery won’t be able to maintain sufficient energy and you will die.

Having reached 60 I’m done working 5 days a week. And I’m done working more then 6 months of the year. Time is the most valuable resource you have. If you continue to live on the people farm , You may acquire 5 Mercedes in your driveway but at a cost that is more then money.

In the purely altruistic world you fantasize about, roughly 95% of the Earth’s population would die from starvation & disease within a decade. Atruism is a cult of death. Jesus did not preach that you should give all away to others. He preached that you should follow him. He counseled that the best thing you can do for another man is to each him how to fish.

Jesus did not preach that you should give all away to others.

Uhh, yeah, He did.

Matthew 19:21 KJB… “Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”

And the disciples did so.

Matthew 19:27 KJB… “Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?”

Sure the book God wrote replete with inconsistencies and contradictions. Certainly the work of God almighty. The bible isn’t even a book. It’s a compilation of scriptures of unknown authorship, put together by a corrupt church in order to fool the masses. You, like millions of others swallowed the Psyop hook, line and sinker. If you were honest, you would have to accept that Jesus lied to his apostles when he told them that the end was coming during their lifetime, too. It’s written in the bible. But you obviously pick and choose only what you want to believe in order to support your delusion, while ignoring anything that doesn’t fit in with it. You’re only fooling yourself.

Jesus told his apostles that the Kingdom of God was at hand. (Matthew 3:2, 4:17 Mark 1:15).

Jesus told his apostles that THEIR GENERATION would not pass away until everything he told them was fulfilled, and then the end would come. (Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:26-30, Luke 21: 27-32).

He even told them that SOME OF THEM WOULD STILL BE ALIVE TO SEE IT. (Matthew 16: 27,28).

The main reason that Jesus supposedly came, was to announce the arrival of God’s Kingdom. That’s why he sent his apostles to do it. Consequently, all Christians in the 1st century believed that the end was imminent. Read Paul’s letters to the various congregations. He believed it himself. Since nothing happened back then, many Christians today have been fooled into believing that it’s going to happen during their lifetime. Therefore they apply those scriptures as if they were meant for them today, not realizing that they were intended for people living 2,000 years ago.

Thank You for Your effort. Just picked
Matthew 24:34

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

“This generation”: This cannot refer to the generation living at that time of Christ, for “all these things”, the abomination of desolation (verse 15), the persecutions and judgments (verses 17-22), the false prophets (verses 23-26), the signs in the heavens (verses 27-29), Christ’s final return (verse 30), and the gathering of the elect (verse 31), did not “take place” in their lifetime.

It seems best to interpret Christ’s words as a reference to the generation alive at the time when those final hard labor pains begin. This would fit with the lesson of the fig tree, which stresses the short span of time in which these things will occur.

This is speaking of the generation in whose lifetime all these signs occur. That generation will not pass away until “all these things be fulfilled.” In other words, the previously listed signs will continue to multiply throughout the church age and reach their ultimate climax at the end of the age in the generation of those who will live to see the entire matter fulfilled in their lifetime.”

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.”

GCP, much respect to you so I am not trying to stir anything…

Jesus never said to build houses for the homeless like the author implies. The verse you cite are about leaving worldly possessions to follow Jesus with the others in his flock. Many times we are told to care for the widows and orphans, feed the hungry, and clothe the naked.

I believe in all those things.

I don’t see where I am supposed to support the able bodied that choose not to care for themselves or be guilty because I have been blessed with plenty. The author bundles those together with things that appear nowhere in the Bible using the kind heart of believers to justify socialism. If the Lord blesses me, which he does greatly, I can tithe and much more. Nowhere do I find being poor and destitute to be a virtue. Conversely, the properity preachers use a false gospel and will pay dearly for deceiving the flock.

If I were to read Das Kapital by Karl Marx, believe it’s the “bible” on economic theory, and constantly quote it when discussing economics with other people, those same people would, rightfully, conclude that I’m a fanatic or just plain crazy. Nonsense. To the jews, only other jews were considered their neighbors. People of other nationalities were treated with contempt. Here’s the proof :

A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.” (Matthew 15: 22-26)
Jesus calls this woman a dog because she is not the right nationality.

Once again, you have been fooled!

“It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.” (Matthew 15: 22-26)

Matthew 15:27 “And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

“And she said, Truth, Lord”: What you say is true. Let it be that the best food should be given to the children, let the Jews have the chief benefit of thy ministry; but the dogs beneath the table eat the crumbs. So let me be regarded as a dog, a pagan, as unworthy of everything. Yet grant one exception of that almighty power displayed so signally among the Jews, and heal the despised daughter of a despised heathen mother.

She was not arguing that her people had a good record of following God. In fact, she admitted that her heritage was not of God. She appealed to Jesus’ sympathy. She said, I will wait around and just take the leftover blessings as you feed others. She had great humility and faith.

Matthew 15:28 “Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”

“Great is thy faith”: That is, thy trust, confidence. The word here seems to include also, the humility and perseverance manifested in pressing her suit. The daughter was healed then. Going home, she found her well and composed (Mark 7:30).

One thing that really gets results from God is our great faith in Jesus and His ability to perform miracles. Jesus just spoke the Word, and the woman’s daughter was made whole. Notice, though, that this woman had to persist in her request.

We read (in James the fifth chapter), that “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” God needs to know that we are serious about our prayer requests, and He will answer our prayers. It is okay to pray more than once about something.”

Bullshit! A god of that sort wouldn’t need to know anything. He’s supposedly an all-knowing god already, and capable to read people’s minds and hearts. The only purpose prayer serves is to deceive the dumb masses so they can be easily controlled and manipulated. An almighty god of love wouldn’t have created a world of pain and suffering. A perfect god would have created a perfect world where no one would be in need of anything and he wouldn’t have allowed anyone to interfere with it to the detriment of his children. That god only exists in brainwashed and indoctrinated minds only. We are not the product of such a god, otherwise this world would be very different.

The evidence all around us proves that we are the product of an advanced race of beings who created us through genetic engineering as a slave class. In the bible’s old testament they’re called Elohim. A plural world mistranslated by the church as God.

The only reasons for our existence are to work for the system and bring a new generation of slaves to replace us in the farm. After which we are eliminated by a process of self destruction programmed into our bodies’ cells. The rest is just illusion to give false hope to the slaves, when in reality the Elohim don’t give a shit about us as individuals. The proof is in the pudding. The system they created provides them with a constant supply of slaves for their farm. That’s all they care about. The earth is nothing but a slave factory. Everything else is pure illusion to deceive the slaves.

2) “No, Idiot, I don’t believe in evolution either.”

NOT sure if it’s part of Spalling, Gramir, Or Sintax, or none of the preceding ?

However, https://www.grammarly.com/blog/comma/ in the wrong place can leave one guessing.

NOT VERY convincing; #1

Yeah it was very neighborly of God to have Israel commit genocide against neighboring people. Killing men, women, children and even animals indiscriminately. Real LOVE in action!

Revelation 21:1 Context

“1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Yeah, that was all meant for those people back in the 1st century who drank the Kool-Aid. The Psyop has been so effective, that you still have many today being deceived with that crap, while they keep being exploited by the real owners (gods) of this world.

Here’s an idea, give your tithe money to the people who you know who have genuine needs instead of giving it to a 501c3 government institution known as a church. If you already tithe it won’t cost you anything more, and you will be blessing an actual man, woman, or child instead of contributing to a non-living corporation.
