When anyone from any government tells you something
is “safe”…It isn’t.

Like “vaccines” and such…….

He was eating Fukushima-tainted fish the same way politicians 2 years ago were getting real COVID jabs on TV.

A number of years ago the p.m. in office ate veggies grown in the fukushima area for his photo op. Word was he received major gastro-intestinal damage.
Another point most people miss is that the fukushima area is/was a major food producing region for japan.

Nationalism in action.

This is how people behave when they view their country as a nation. That is, an extension of their family.

As a former submariner, who operated directly a nuclear power plant, i would eat the fish. No problem.

Effluent (outgoing) primary coolant water has been cleaned and deionized before any discharge. And radioactive contaminants (physical particals) are filtered out. The water itself goes through the reactor, and does indeed get ionized and some of its costituent parts are highly radioactive. The main one being Nitrogen-16. It’s very highly charged. But N-16 has a half-life of about 7 seconds.

That water Fukushima had discharged had been held for years to burn off any leftover contaminants. It has a radioactive signature barely above background radiation. No big deal, truly.

I knew personally people who used to brew tea with primary coolant. All submarines discharge small amounts of coolant commonly, albeit infrequently. Admiral Hyman G. Rickover (Badass extreme) drank primary coolant water during a congressional committee in the 1960s to show that the water was safe.

Ignorance of the dangers makes them bigger. In this case: dilution is the solution to pollution.

But my understanding is that this is not primary coolant water. This is water that was dumped directly on melted cores, and groundwater that continually flushed into and collected in the melted down cores.
They actually tried to create an (underground) ice wall to stop the groundwater penetration. Don’t recall reading how that went.
As the melted cores no longer have the structural cohesiveness of pelletized fuel, one can imagine greater contamination of water in contact.
And claims of “cleaning and treatment” by TEPCO could be treated with skepticism as they tended to lie (and get caught lying) about the situation there quite a bit.
Just sayin’.
