I was at least giving Caster the benefit of the doubt as to being not quite one or the other, but clearly far more “influenced” by his XY genes and testosterone (pretty obvious just looking at him). I believe Caster Semenya genuinely didn’t know they were intersex until questions about their athletic performance and testosterone levels came about. I understand that this person’s exterior shows female sex organs, but when more detailed testing was conducted, it was found this person has no uterus or other internal female sexual organs but does have undescended testicles which explains the high testosterone levels.
I don’t think our athletic divisions for men and women were set up to deal with people who have Caster Semenya’s type of genetic abnormalities. This person is a genetic freak of nature through no fault of their own. It’s now known this person appears female on the exterior but their genetics reveal they’re actually a male.
It would seem sports need to add an open category for people like this. It’s not fair to allow people like this to compete as female when their genetics show they are male.
