I went to an Indian buffet with an Indian guy I know. The waiters told us that the boss stole all their tips and not to leave any. That was bad enough, but later during the visit, they also told us that he would take leftover food from people’s plates and scrape it back into pans in the kitchen that were to be put out on the buffet. Cheap, nasty and a tip thief.
We left and never went back.

I love spicy food but kitchen hygiene is a common issue with Indian restaurants.
Food sourcing used to be an issue at Indian restaurants in LA … folks caught them going to the animal shelters and buying cats … then cooking and serving them at their restaurants. That was in the late-’80s … but I’ll bet it’s still practiced.
