Lord Sumption: The Lockdown Is Without Doubt the Greatest Interference with Personal Liberty in Our History

Guest Post by Edward Peter Stringham

These have been trying times for those who believe that individuals have a right to work and see one’s loved ones. In a mere few days in March, we watched as many of the rights and principles we believed we could take for granted were swept away at the recommendation of a theoretical physicist named Neil Ferguson.

The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that no one shall be subjected to arbitrary exile. Neil Ferguson exercised his rights when not following the lockdown that he advocated.

But for everyone else the result has been what the Wall Street Journal calls “a catastrophe.” The litany of economic, psychological, and social destruction is too depressing to recount here.

Springtime For Joggers

Guest Post by The Zman

Thanks to the relentless anti-white animus, America and the world now has a new colorful euphemism for a certain element of society. The word “jogger” is now the preferred word of choice to describe the young black male creeping around in the neighborhood, looking for trouble. Over the weekend, the funnymen and meme makers had fun with the story of Ahmaud Arbery, the black male shot and killed by two white men in Georgia during a confrontation.

Pennsylvania counties rebel against governor’s phased reopening plan

Via Fox News

Dr. Rachel Levine: Under order, face masks mandatory for workers in PA

Eager to reopen, local officials across Pennsylvania are set to defy Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan to cautiously ease coronavirus restrictions.

The governor has outlined a phased reopening plan, complete with a color-coded readiness chart.  Wolf announced Friday that 24 more counties have qualified as “yellow,” meaning they can partially reopen Friday, while extending stay-at-home orders for the remaining “red” counties until early June.

Some local officials don’t agree with the tiered strategy, though. They plan to use their power to proceed with their own reopening plans, despite the fact that Pennsylvania confirmed 1,323 new coronavirus cases in a single day on Friday.

Lebanon County officials and some Republican lawmakers, including state Sen. Dave Arnold and Reps. Russ Diamond, Frank Ryan and Sue Helm, delivered a letter Friday to the Democratic governor informing him of their plans.

Several States Issue Orders Requiring People To Run Around In Giant Hamster Balls

Via The Babylon Bee

U.S.— Americans in several states are readily adopting new social distancing measures that will guarantee that no one ever gets sick again. California, New York, Michigan and Washington state legislatures have all issued new orders to their citizens to indefinitely don a plastic hamster ball whenever they decide to travel outside their home.  The human-sized hamster balls are made to be impervious to all foreign particulate matter from the outside world including viruses, bacteria, and oxygen.

Durham Supercharges Investigation With Elite Prosecutors To Review ‘Witch Hunt’

Via ZeroHedge

John Durham has supercharged his review into the origins of the Russiagate hoax orchestrated by the Obama administration during and after the 2016 US election – adding additional top prosecutors to explore different components of the original probe, according to Fox News.

Durham, the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut tasked with by Attorney General Bill Barr with investigating the actions taken against the Trump team, has tapped Jeff Jensen – U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri who had been investigating the Michael Flynn case. Also added to the team is interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Timothy Shea, according to Fox‘s sources.

They farmed the investigation out because it is too much for Durham and he didn’t want to be distracted,” said one source, adding “He’s going full throttle, and they’re looking at everything.

Authoritarians Using Coronavirus Fear to Destroy America

Guest Post by Ron Paul

A Fresno, California waffle restaurant dared to open its doors for business this weekend to the delight of a long line of customers, who waited up to two hours for the “privilege” of willingly spending their money in a business happy to serve them breakfast on Mother’s Day. This freedom of voluntary transaction is the core of what we used to call our free society. But in an America paralyzed by fear – ramped up by a mainstream media that churns out propaganda at a level unparalleled in history – no one is allowed to enjoy themselves.

Obama Participated In Plot To Frame Flynn: Sidney Powell

Via ZeroHedge

Former President Barack Obama was in on the plot to frame former National Security Adviser Gen. Michael Flynn, according to his lead attorney, Sidney Powell.

Flynn withdrew his guilty plea to providing a false statement to the FBI regarding his communications with a Russian ambassador, after which new documents in the case revealed that a cadre of bad actors within the Obama intelligence community set Flynn up.  And according to Powell, it went straight to the top.

“These agents specifically schemed and planned with each other how to not tip him off, that he was even the person being investigated,” Powell told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” adding “So they kept him relaxed and unguarded deliberately as part of their effort to set him up and frame him.”

The Sum of All Broken Promises

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

The restless public, cooped up and idled in springtime’s flowering, have watched Wall Street doing just fine while they see the approaching sunset of their own much more modest Paycheck Protection Program and coronavirus relief checks. Late last week, the Dow Jones shot up 455 points the same day that the government announced the worst unemployment numbers since the lows of the Great Depression. Are there two economies in this country? One for people who expect to work for pay, and another for bankers who play shady games with money and receive extravagant bailouts when their games don’t pan out?

No Lockdowns: The Terrifying Polio Pandemic of 1949-52

Guest Post by Jeffrey Tucker

Many people infected with polio don’t show any symptoms. Some become temporarily paralyzed; for others, it’s permanent. In 1952, the polio epidemic reached a peak in U.S.: almost 58,000 reported cases and more than 3,000 deaths.

World War II had ended four years earlier and the U.S. was trying to return to peace and prosperity. Price controls and rationing were ended. Trade was opening. People were returning to normal life. The economy started humming again. Optimism for the future was growing. Harry Truman became the symbol of a new normacy. From Depression and war, society was on the mend.

As if to serve as a reminder that there were still threats to life and liberty present, an old enemy made its appearance: polio. It’s a disease with ancient origins, with its most terrifying effect, the paralysis of the lower extremities. It maimed children, killed adults, and struck enormous fear into everyone.

“Make the Lie Big…”

Guest Post by Jeff Thomas via International Man

virus

In October of 2019, the Military World Games were held in Wuhan, China, with military personnel from over one hundred countries participating. Possibly coincidentally, Wuhan is the foremost centre for virus research in China.

Soon after that event, the coronavirus broke out in Wuhan.

China said, “It’s not a problem – we got a handle on it.” The Chinese government lied, as most all major governments do when faced with a large, sudden problem that makes them appear weak to other nations.

The problem spread. The media in other countries focused on other issues, with only the occasional mention of COVID-19 until the virus was suddenly reported to be in a score of counties around the world. Apparently, unwitting travelers, in a couple of months, had spread it worldwide.

Then something much more peculiar than a seasonal virus occurred.

We’re Winning

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

We’re Winning

Let’s take a moment to bask in the glow of liberal pain as the wins keep coming and our enemy’s defeats mount. LTG Mike Flynn was freed of the leftist frame-up. That lady in Texas was freed from jail after refusing to kiss the Ted Lieu of an Obama pal by apologizing for the “crime” of wanting to feed her family. And the awesome Ric Grenell freed the transcripts of the House’s garbage Russia hoax investigation, revealing that the CNN talking Schiff-heads who assured you that Trump and Putin were making out in the onion dome of the Kremlin were telling a very different story under oath.

The People are Rising Up – Journalists & Politicians Beware

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

A former respected journalist has come out quite angry and has called for the people to overthrow the Merkel government. He states he is willing to go to prison but begs everyone for the sake of the country and their families to reject Merkel and her links to Bill Gates and is effectively calling for a non-violent Revolution. He is not even offering a specific alternative. Just to throw out the Merkel government.

Fed’s New QE Operations Could Be “Last Stop” Before a Deep Recession

From Birch Gold Group

fed stop recession

Last September, the Fed’s emergency liquidity operation in the repo markets signaled serious distress in the economy. The topic deserved the attention that we gave it at the time, but looking back on it now, those actions are dwarfed by those that the Fed has taken in recent months.

In March, in order to stave off market panic, Federal Reserve Chair Powell fired most of his economic “bullets”, including initiating a new round of Quantitative Easing.

As a result, the Fed’s balance sheet went vertical, potentially igniting a powder keg of inflation.
