WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS – QOTD

From what I’ve gathered, the windows in the Mandalay Bay do not open. So, two questions:

  1. Are the two broken windows on the 32nd floor both from Paddock’s room? They seem awfully far apart.
  2. If there was a shooter on the 4th floor, shouldn’t there be a broken window?

Las Vegas Gunman Was Prescribed Drug Linked to Violent Outbursts

Las Vegas Gunman Was Prescribed Drug Linked to Violent Outbursts

Las Vegas massacre gunman Stephen Paddock was taking a drug linked to violent outbursts in yet another example of a mass shooter being on a pharmaceutical medication that causes aggressive behavior.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Paddock “was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug in June that can lead to aggressive behavior”.

The drug in question – diazepam – more commonly known as its brand name Valium – was prescribed by Henderson physician Dr. Steven Winkler on June 21 and Paddock purchased 50 10-milligram diazepam tablets from a Walgreens store in Reno on the same day. Paddock was also previously prescribed the same drug in 2016.

The article cites DrugAbuse.com, which warns that diazepam can trigger “aggressive behavior” and “psychotic experiences,” which can be amplified by alcohol consumption.

QUOTES OF THE DAY

“If govts take control of virtual currencies no need for tax bills & payment issues. Taxes, fines, etc automatically deducted from your account. Tax collectors & intel community can hardly wait for mandated single ledger for crypto currency systems, (w/global access for them). As govts tighten grip on virtual currencies, individual discretion on money mgmt will become restricted and right of privacy extinguished.”

Dr. Harald Malmgren

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”

Las Vegas: Pray for the fallen, prepare to fight the governing elite’s war on liberty

No matter what more is learned in terms of specifics about the Las Vegas attack, the need for the American citizenry to be well armed has never been greater. The Las Vegas shootings should give Americans pause to look beyond the contradictory “facts” and the whining, scripted, and sentimental political blather the event produced, and consider the following obvious points, which, when taken together, seem to merit setting aside a bit more of the monthly budget for protective weaponry.

An Act of Pure Evil

Guest Post by Cognitive Dissonance

When I selected the name of my avatar here on Zero Hedge and began posting comments, then articles when I became a contributing editor, there was deliberate and conscious intent on my part to disturb the cognitive dissonance of the herd. Rarely do we personally grow unless sufficiently prodded with a poker.

My intent with this article is NOT to stick a finger in the wound and cause more pain. Not in the least. But “We the People” have an extremely complex, some might say insane, relationship with murder/death/kill. To put it bluntly, we have been deeply conditioned to believe certain ‘types’ of killing are just and righteous, therefore ‘legal’. More importantly, we believe that just about the only righteous killing can, and must, be conducted by the state and its duly appointed apparatchiks.

To be even more blunt….that’s screwed up. This article illuminates both the state’s, and our, hypocrisy.

WARNING!! Trigger alert. Do NOT read this if you wish to remain comfortable with your belief systems.

7 Deceptive Claims Jimmy Kimmel Made About Guns in One Monologue

Via Breitbart

During his opening monologue on Monday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, host Jimmy Kimmel made seven false or misleading statements about gun laws as part of a push to shame Congress into enacting increased gun control measures following Sunday’s attack on a country music concert in Las Vegas that left 59 people dead and hundreds more injured.

Ironically, he did this after admitting that the Las Vegas attacker complied with all gun controls in purchasing a number of firearms–meaning he passed background checks for those guns. Moreover, Kimmel even admitted that the attacker had “no criminal record,” and therefore, nothing to keep him from passing a check to acquire a gun.

Trump: “We’ll Be Talking About Gun Laws As Time Goes By”

Tyler Durden's picture

In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in American history, the Left has predictably ramped up their calls for stricter gun laws with everyone from Chuck Schumer to Lena Dunham suddenly voicing their ‘expertise’ on the topic.

And while Trump enjoyed strong support from the NRA throughout the 2016 campaigning season, he offered a glimmer of hope to gun control advocates this morning saying “we’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by.”  Per the Washington Examiner:

Are You Ready to Die?

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept exposes the fake news put out by the US Department of Homeland Security (an euphemistic name for a Big Brother operation that spies on US citizens) that Russia hacked 21 US state elections, news that was instantly spread around the world by the presstitute media. The propagandists running Homeland Security were contradicted by the state governments, forcing Homeland Security to retract its fake news claims. https://theintercept.com/2017/09/28/yet-another-major-russia-story-falls-apart-is-skepticism-permissible-yet/

The unasked/unanswered question is why did Homeland Security put out a FAKE NEWS story?

The Plight of the Edgytarian

Guest Post by The Zman

One of the more popular ways for people, with modest talents, to gain public attention is to be edgy. The best examples of this are the pop stars who have modest musical ability, but are willing to degrade themselves on stage, well beyond what is common. Comics used to play the edgy card, by dropping the F-bomb in their act or making increasingly bawdy sexual references. The game is to set yourself apart from the other mediocrities by saying and doing outlandish things. That way, the public pays attention to you instead of others.

Mass Shootings: The Military-Entertainment Complex’s Culture of Violence Turns Deadly

Guest Post by John W. Whitehead

This latest mass shooting in Las Vegas that left more than 50 people dead and more than 500 injured is as obscure as they come: a 64-year-old retiree with no apparent criminal history, no military training, and no obvious axe to grind opens fire on a country music concert crowd from a hotel room 32 floors up using a semi-automatic gun that may have been rigged to fire up to 700 rounds a minute, then kills himself.

We’re left with more questions than answers, none of them a flattering reflection of the nation’s values, political priorities, or the manner in which the military-industrial complex continues to dominate, dictate and shape almost every aspect of our lives.

For starters, why do these mass shootings keep happening? Mass shootings have taken place at churches, in nightclubs, on college campuses, on military bases, in elementary schools, in government offices, and at concerts. This shooting is the deadliest to date.

What is it about America that makes violence our nation’s calling card?

Is it because America is a gun culture?

Stucky QOTD: Suicide (yours)

Today’s inspiration for the QOTD comes from the Jack London quote;

“To be able to forget means sanity.”

I don’t know the context of that quote, so I don’t understand his true intent.

If he means that we should forget any pains against us caused by others — to forgive and forget — that’s terrific. Or, maybe he means we should just forget all the bullshit we encounter daily in this sick world, and enjoy life’s goodness. That’s terrific also.
