Lighten Up to Tighten Up

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Perhaps the presidency has been an overly solemn office since, oh, the days of Millard Fillmore, the dreary weight of all that mortal responsibility — slavery, war, more war, depression, yet more war, nukes, we shall overcome, terror, Lehman Brothers, Ferguson, Russia here, there, and everywhere…uccchhh….

And so, at last: a little comic relief. I mean, imagine Grover Cleveland putting the choke-slam on Thomas Nast. Dwight Eisenhower punching out Edward R. Morrow. Jack Kennedy applying the Macumba Death Grip to Walter Lippman. Nahhhh. But Donald (“The Golden Golem of Greatness”) Trump versus CNN! Now that’s a matchup worthy of the WWF Hall of Fame. I just kind of wish the big fella had gone all the way and put in Anderson Cooper’s mug instead of the CNN logo box. THAT MIGHT LEAVE A MARK

An SAISD Police Officer, Joshua Kehm, is seen in this video body slamming a 12-year-old middle school girl, which appears to have knocked her out unconscious for a brief moment.

Struggling to restrain 6th grader Janissa Valdez, who was reportedly involved in an argument with a peer, Kehm can be seen to slam her to the ground with force.

As the district police officer cuffs the dazed girl, shocked students can be heard asking if she is okay after apparently landing on her face.

“This video is very concerning, and we are working to get all of the details,” Leslie Price, San Antonio Independent School District spokesperson, told local media.

“We certainly want to understand what all occurred, and we are not going to tolerate excessive force in our district.”

The police smackdown happened on March 29. The girl’s mother has said her daughter doesn’t remember the arrest as she was knocked out by the alarming incident.

The incident took place on March 29, 2016, at around 4 PM at Rhodes Middle school in San Antonio, Texas.
