Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick abruptly canceled the workout the NFL scheduled for him Saturday, and instead worked out at a local Atlanta high school wearing a shirt comparing himself to a slave.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has not played since the end of the 2016 season, the same season he began protesting against the country as the national anthem played. But his exclusion from pro football has been a focus of attention as supporters claim he has been “blackballed” from the league for his extreme, left-wing activism.

The Betsy Ross Flag: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About This American Icon

Guest Post by Alex via Ammo.com

Nike pulled a sneaker displaying the “Betsy Ross Flag” in response to a complaint from Colin Kaepernick. The NFL star (known for political activism in protest of systemic racism – including kneeling during the national anthem) expressed that he and others considered the symbol (featured on the shoe’s heel) offensive. The shoe was set to go on sale this week.

Two takeaways here. Apparently, Colin Kaepernick is able to control a $134.2 billion dollar company whenever he finds something offensive. And two, he clearly doesn’t know the full history behind the Betsy Ross Flag. Please read our guide and share so you can show other’s what the Betsy Ross flag truly stands for:
5 Things You Didn't Know About the Betsy Ross Flag

Second only to Old Glory itself, the Betsy Ross Flag is the American icon. Its clean design is similar to our current flag, with 13 stripes and only 13 stars in a circle (representing the equal status of what were then the 13 united individual sovereign nations). This simplicity is perhaps the reason for its popularity among American Patriots and Constitutionalists, as it hearkens back to an earlier time when America was still a place of freedom and resistance to tyranny.

Arizona Blocks Nike After Kaepernick-Complaint Sparks Virtue-Signaling Sneaker Ban

Just a week after Nike appeared to bow to Chinese authorities’ demands, halting the sale of a range of sports shoes in China after its Japanese designer showed support for Hong Kong protests in an Instagram post; the sportswear company has been implicitly banned from Arizona after nixing the launch of its “Betsy Ross Flag” sneakers after former football player Colin Kaepernick complained.

As The Wall Street Journal reports, the sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week.

The heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.

After shipping the shoes to retailers, Nike asked for them to be returned without explaining why, the people said. The shoes aren’t available on Nike’s own apps and websites.

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured the old version of the American flag,” a Nike spokeswoman said.

After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery, the people said.

Some users on social media responded to posts about the shoe with similar concerns. Mr. Kaepernick declined to comment.
