TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MORE JOBS ….POOF!

layoffs

Last week I talked about the possibility (likelihood?) of Barnes&Noble eventually going belly up, and Hewlett Packard laying off 30,000. Monday we celebrated dad’s 91st birthday, but my brother-in-law was all stressed out about possibly losing his job at Johnson Controls … they are laying off 3,000 people and will split the company in two. Caterpillar just announced 10,000 layoffs. Halliburton will be shedding 30,000 jobs. Coca Cola will be closing 9 US plants. Deutsche Bank will shed 25% of its workforce. Seagate Technology will say “Auf Wiedersehn” to 1,100. Groupon is cutting 1,100 jobs. Even ESPN will be firing 300 people. I’m a gonna have to confine myself to Fux Newz or Jim Cramer cuz they say the economy is doing just GR-R-R-R-REAT!!

THE PSYCHOPATH AND HIS $750 PILL

Ladies and gentlemen. I give you Martin shkreli. One of the biggest pieces of shit on the planet.

Strangely, no one commented all week about this PSYCOPATH ASSHOLE. The drug treats a rare disease, Toxoplasmosis — the average course of treatment uses 100 pills, for a cost of $1,350 … now increased overnight to $75,000. There are currently 3,700 patients using this treatment. The actual cost to make the Daraprim pills for 3700 patients is about $370,000. The price rise will shift revenues from $5 million dollars a year to more than $275 million. Shkreli, the fucking former hedge-fund con artist, claims that his price rise will make the drug more available. He said, “It’s a great business decision that also benefits all of our stakeholders. I don’t expect the likes of you to process that.” In an interview with CBS News on Tuesday, Shkreli described his decision to boost the price of a lifesaving drug he purchased the rights to by more than 4,000% as “altruistic.” He’s done this before. He acquired the rights to Thiola, a drug used to treat the rare disease cystinuria …. and increased the price 20-fold, despite no additional research and development costs incurred by obtaining these rights. He intends to increase pills for kidney disease by five hundred percent. To read more about this sociopath cocksucker without an ounce of empathy just click the link below:

india

When a northern Indian state announced a few hundred job openings for low-level office workers who run errands and make tea, the response was staggering. About 2.3 million people applied for the 368 jobs with the government of Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of candidates with doctorates and other advanced degrees applied for the jobs that pay about 16,000 rupees ($240) a month and require a fifth-grade education. At least 255 applicants had earned a doctorate and over 200,000 had graduate degrees. At least 30 trained computer engineers were also in the fray. Job creation is an urgent requirement in this nation of 1.2 billion where 13 million young people enter the job market each year.
