Trump Indicted (Again) For ‘Efforts To Overturn 2020 Election’; DeSantis Defends
Update (1834ET): As reactions to Trump’s latest indictment roll in, one notable defender is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who tweeted that he would, as president, “end the weaponization of government, replace the FBI Director, and ensure a single standard of justice for all Americans.”
DeSantis added that DC is a “swamp,” and that it’s “unfair to have to stand trial before a jury that is reflective of the swamp mentality.”

DECLINE & FALL OF THE UNITED STATES

This will be a day remembered in the history of the entire world. It is the day that the United States indicted and arrested a former president to prevent him from running in the 2024 election. Even Richard Nixon was pardoned because they fear that the civil unrest that might unfold would tear the fabric of the nation apart. Today, the Department of Justice is praying for anything to start to arrest anyone protesting for Trump and call them a domestic terrorist to set an example by striking fear into the heart of people to vote for Biden and shut the hell up. This was the day that the United States begins its decline and fall.
Trump: “I Have Been Indicted”
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday posted on Truth Social that he’s been indicted, “seemingly over the Boxes Hoax,” and that he’s been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday at 3pm.
According to the NY Times, Trump faces seven charges, and is expected to surrender himself to authorities in Miami on Tuesday.

The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax, even though Joe Biden has 1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware, additional Boxes in Chinatown, D.C., with even more Boxes at the University of Pennsylvania, and documents strewn all over his garage floor where he parks his Corvette, and which is “secured” by only a garage door that is paper thin, and open much of the time.
I have been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM. I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country, and is currently leading, by far, all Candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in Polls of the 2024 Presidential Election. Indicting Trump is the End of US Politics

So, the Democrats and their Davos benefactors have finally done it. They have finally found something they can indict President Donald Trump on. Apparently 34 somethings, which makes for great headlines.
The usual suspects have been thrown their chum — both TDS patients and MAGAtards. The social media war is now in full swing. And, frankly, it couldn’t be more tiresome.
A few get why this is so inane but most are focused (or being focused) on the wrong thing, as always.
Jonathan Turley has a good rundown of the questionable legality of this case. But, again, while he’s not wrong to focus on that and the shady politics, he also misses the larger implications of this indictment.
This is a case so legally tenuous that even the Federal Government, famous for being able to convict a ham sandwich, wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Donald Trump was just indicted…but why?

Last night it was announced that former-President Donald Trump was being indicted by the Manhattan Grand Jury, he is expected to surrender himself to authorities later today.
The indictment is sealed until arraignment, but we do know the rough nature of the charge(s). Essentially, the accusation is that he paid “hush money” to pornographic actress Stormy Daniels to prevent her from going to the press. CNN is abuzz with anonymous sources “familiar with the case” who are predicting 30-plus charges related fraud, but all that’s really known is that it concerns Daniels’ hush money.
Hush money, in itself, is not technically illegal, but if it could be established that campaign funds were used to make the payment, and Trump knew about it, it would be a felony campaign finance violation.

“Take Our Nation Back”: Trump Calls For Protests As ‘Imminent’ Arrest Expected
Update (1315ET): The Washington Post reports that Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said Saturday morning there had been no “notification” of an indictment and said Trump’s supporters should attend a rally he is holding next week in Texas for his 2024 reelection.
Susan Necheles, a lawyer for Trump, said his remark about the timing of his arrest was gleaned from media reports on Friday about local and federal law enforcement players expecting to convene early next week to discuss security and logistics related to Trump’s expected indictment.
“Since this is a political prosecution, the District Attorney’s office has engaged in a practice of leaking everything to the press, rather than communication with President Trump’s attorneys as would be done in a normal case,” Necheles said in a statement.

As the banking crisis and the Hunter Biden laptop scandal continues to unfold, the potential indictment of former President Trump on felony falsification charges could be the only headline that really matters next week.
