AWWWWW! Now THAT’S Adorable!!

A litter of impossibly cute black-footed kittens recently made their debut at the Philadelphia Zoo.

The kittens were born to mom Aza on April 8. The two boys are named Drogon and Viserion, and their sister is Rhaegal. They’re the first of the small African wild cat species to be born at the zoo.

Philadelphia Zoo black footed cats

The Black-footed Cat is among the smallest wild cat species in the world. Black-footed Cats are found only in three countries of southern Africa: Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. An incredibly tenacious little cat, the natives have a legend claiming these tiny cats can bring down giraffe.

One small Black-footed Cat can consume 3,000 rodents each year. Billy needs one of these!! That sumvabitch mole would be TOAST in no time at all!

TBP Cat Lovers …………  ENJOY!!

T4C- Kittens have that pleasing “baby smell” like human babies. That is what attracts you.

Note the difference between cats and dogs Cats when introduced into a new situation like being let out of doors near a street will cautiously check it out. Dogs, on the other hand will bound into the street without looking; being hit by a car if there is one passing. For the most part cats are smarter than dogs. Dogs are only smarter (and thats questionable) when they are trained by a no nonsense owner. Most dogs are a direct reflection of their owners– and in America that means undisciplined oafs that are stupid and over fed and just bark like idiots.

Put your teeny weeny in one of those, and then write a story about that experience! With pics, please. It will set TBP record for views.

BTW – you said that giraffe thing was a legend. Now you say it is a fact. Make up your mind.

Stucky,
Legend or not I have seen an ordinary house cat jump onto a tree and climb 20 feet in seconds to escape some marauding dogs. There was a video a few years back of a beefy animal control officer in shorts trying to nab a cat that was climbing his leg. Ouch! Cats’ claws are amazing weapons and climbing devices.

They should let loose some of these cats at the next Jade Helm exercise. That would sure liven it up!

Whomever did the exhibit for the kittens is not a cat person.Cats like a tower and like lions like to be up high-kitty tower. Also something hanging to swat at, and a scratching post for their nails to naturally take care of length.Animals all like to hide, and play, hones in their hunting skills..

I also forgot they also eat grass for digestion like dogs do.

Thanks for the gorgeous post. These are beautiful little cats. These sand cats are the ancestors of our familiar beautiful domestic cats.

Donna,

I’ve always wondered about the grass eating.

Invariably I have to clean it up later in a pile of puke.

Maybe that’s the point.

Love the pets anyway!
