PUTIN ON 60 MINUTES

Putin is an impressive man. The Republican presidential candidates calling him a gangster look small in comparison. His intellect and toughness shine through in this interview. He’s a real leader.

Fully concur with Admin’s comments and analysis of this 60 Minutes interview. I have said numerous times on this site that Putin is an ultra-nationalist who will do whatever he believes is in the best interest of Russia, both on a domestic and foreign policy basis.

Nationalism trumps everything, and I have held this view since I was a teenager. Internationalism is kumbayah bullshit. Internationalists like Obama are weak, ineffective, and incredibly dangerous. Witness Obama’s failed policies in Iraq, Syria, and especially Libya. We are less safe. Much less.

Nationalists like Putin are strong, forceful and unrelenting. Nothing will stop Putin from doing what he thinks is best for his country. And he proves it every day. Not by silly shit like an ISIS body count a la Vietnam, but by standing up with his allies in Syria, Iraq, and Iran and saying clearly to those threatening Russian interests in the Middle East that “you will have to deal with me, and I have a proven track record that I am a man not to be trifled with.”

Lest anyone misinterpret my remarks about Putin at 11:34 pm above, let me clarify.

Putin is an autocrat, but he is with the consent of the elected government and people, who give him an 80% approval rating. Obama is also an autocrat with a 40% approval rating and rules by a compliant executive bureaucracy and executive orders. He simply ignores the legislative branch of government.

Which do you prefer? Neither is my answer, but Putin is more legitimate.

As a child of the 50’s and 60’s, I find it disconcerting when there is seemingly a great deal more to respect in Russia’s President than there is to respect in our President. Very sad. Never thought I’d see the day.

Nkit, their’s were 80 year old party bosses promoted on seniority but ours are elected by Useful Idiots; we aren’t even getting the cream that rises to the top of a barrel.
