Social conservatives aren’t helping in reducing the welfare caseload.
On one hand, they quite reasonably suggest that it is irresponsible and irrational to have children you can’t afford. I’m totally down with that position, couldn’t agree more.
However, in almost the same breath, they denounce contraception as “marxist” and “communistic”. How, exactly, can my desire to control what happens in my very own body, and my efforts to keep from incurring a 20 year responsibility AND avoid imposing my costs on others, be defined as Marxist or Communist?
I’ve been puzzling over that for 50 years now. I can only figure that some folks reason “ad hominum”- i.e. since some feminists happened to also be Marxists, that the fact that I may share one or two of their beliefs, such the belief in my right to control my own destiny to the extent possible, that, ergo, that must mean that my beliefs match theirs in every respect. That is like arguing that because I love the architecture of old Catholic churches, and believe that that faith (of which I am distinctly not an adherent) has made some very positive contributions to civilization, that I must be a devoted Catholic.

Socialism is “evil” because the masses have been brainwashed by various (0.1% funded) “Think-tanks” (apparently we can’t think and need paid lackies to do the heavy lifting) to believe that each and every time a financial transaction is completed without Mr. Global getting his rightful cut (that would be why you pay twice as much for healthcare as every other developed country… but IT IS NEVER to be called corporate welfare)… the world comes closer to total destruction.
And just look at all the good little soldiers who toe the party line to be aligned with “the chosen” few… who of course get fleeced by them every day…
Aren’t you glad the people living in the socialist paradises in South America and Europe aren’t getting fleeced by the chosen few who operate those socialist governments? How are the economies in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Greece, France, etc. doing?
