The Most Violent Cities in the World

Maybe they should add some new Olympic games for Brazil, like dodge the bullets. Baltimore coming on strong.

Brazil has been in crisis for some time now.

The country’s economy shrunk -3.8% last year, and its President, Dilma Rousseff, is holding on for dear life. Once chairman of Petrobras, the state-run oil giant currently engulfed in a colossal political scandal, she is now being threatened with impeachment just 15 months into her second four-year yerm.

Her approval remains at an all-time low of just 11%. The currency has halved in value since 2011, and the country’s credit has been downgraded to junk status.

However, it’s not only the economic and political spheres that are troubling in Brazil. The country also has the dubious distinction of being the world center for homicides. Today’s chart, from The Economist, shows the 50 most murderous cities in the world – and Brazil is home to a mind-boggling 32 of them.

The good news is that key cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, are on the lower side of the spectrum. That said, the host of the 2016 Olympic Games is barely safer than Compton, with a murder rate of 18.6 per 100,000 people each year.

The bad news is that Brazil now has more than 10% of all the world’s murders. While the murder rate has fallen in the largest cities around the country, it has picked up in many of the smaller ones. Cities such as Fortaleza or Natal are among the most violent in the world, with rates above 60 murders per 100,000.

There is a mistake here. Guns are complete outlawed in Jamaica, and effectively outlawed (through extreme regulation) in Mexico. Those countries shouldn’t be on the list, because gun bans stop murder.

Also, only the US should be on this list, because of its lax gun laws.

Also also, Switzerland should be at the top of the list, because of its widespread gun ownership.

Also also also, St. Louis and Baltimore must be mistakes, because they are both wonderful, diverse cities where the happy citizens wouldn’t dream of committing violence. Maybe they are under siege from the violent white populations that surround them in the rural hinterlands?

Since only white people are violent, the “correct” list is full of the usual suspects: Duluth, Fargo, Portland ME, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Billings, Helena, Cheyenne, etc. Everyone knows these diversity-lacking cities are terrible places to live.

Our early ancestors lived very dangerous lives. I recently read that anthropologists estimate that upwards of 30% of males died violent deaths, many of them in warfare of one kind or another.

Apparently our species is unsatisfied with peace.

What is associated with violent crime?
– non-European culture.
– heterogeneous populations.
– mitigation of natural means of culling stupid, dangerous people from the gene pool (i.e., welfare schemes that help stupid people and their progeny survive and multiply, idiocracy-style.)

What are the Hard Left cultists importing into North America like mad?

As Persnickety alludes, if you take all the blacks and browns out of crime statistics, US violent crime rates drop over 90%.

As usual, the Left Cult comes up with endless excuses for this FACT…or if that doesn’t work, they simply ignore it.

I LOVE it when they ignore it so much that they win the (David) Ruenzel Award.

Yes indeed.Basel, Switzerland should be #1, and Montpelier, Vermont should be #2. We all know that. Guns cause murder, all by themselves, even when they are kept in the box they come in and never see daylight.

But, all those places are filled with wonderful Diversities – there’s no way they can be murderous shitholes!

The only way this can be stopped is to import WAY MORE DIVERSITIES into these places!

FLOOD these places with Diversities from everywhere! Somalia! Ethiopia! Palestine! Syria! Bangalore! Just scoop them up off the streets with a front-loader – promise them rivers of milk and honey – and fly them by the crammed-full C5A into these poor, troubled places…

Just think how many Diversities could be crammed into this, all ready to bring enrichment to the poor benighted denizens of these needy cities…

“No… no boarding pass or Passport needed, Bunjabee… just take a free bag lunch and get on the plane. Nevermind where you’re going – it’s way way better than where you came from. Trust us. There’s loads of Free Shit waiting for you and your 27 family members… “

You guys don’t know the half of it.

I live relatively near (and used to work in parts of) Chicago, and Chicago is in the grip of a complete bloodbath courtesy of all the guns that keep walking their way into C(r)ook County.

Those damned guns are pulling their triggers and mowing down all sorts of people (and folk) who were doinuffin but minding their own business. We know that

I mean, LOOK AT THIS MAP! Think of all the lives cut short by those vicious pieces of steel and (nowadays) plastic, look at all the airborne lead contamination!

/sarc off. 30 years ago I used to drive right through North Lawndale to get to grad school at UIC. It was dangerous then, and obviously nothing has changed in three decades.

IQ Classifications in Educational Use
Wechsler, David. Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third edition
Psychological Corporation, 1997

Classification
IQ Score Percent Included
Theoretical Normal Curve Actual Sample
Very Superior 130 and above 2.2 2.1
Superior 120-129 6.7 8.3
High Average* 110-119 16.1 16.1
Average 90-109 50.0 50.3
Low Average* 80-89 16.1 14.8
Borderline 70-79 6.7 6.5
Extremely Low* ** 69 and below 2.2 1.9

*The terms High Average, Low Average and Extremely Low correspond to the terms Bright Normal, Dull Normal and Mental Defective, respectively, used in the 1955 WAIS manual.

**The term Extremely Low is used in place of the terms Mentally Retarded, used in the WAIS-R, and Intellectually Deficient, used in the WISC-III to avoid the implication that a very low IQ score is sufficient evidence by itself for the classification of “mental retardation” or “intellectually deficient.”

IQ Classifications in Psychiatric Use

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV)
American Psychiatric Association, 1994
V62.89 Borderline Intellectual Functioning IQ 71-84
317 Mild Mental Retardation IQ 50-55 to approximately 70
318.0 Moderate Retardation IQ 35-40 to 50-55
318.1 Severe Mental Retardation IQ 20-25 to 35-40
318.2 Profound Mental Retardation IQ below 20 or 25

The terms Educable Mentally Retarded and Trainable Mentally Retarded used in special education are roughly equivalent to DSM classifications for mild and moderate mental retardation, respectively. The DSM diagnostic criteria further require an assessment and determination of impairment in adaptive functioning in order to make a diagnosis of mental retardation.

Areas with the highest percentage of dark brown eyes in the general population are the most violent, and those with the highest percentage of blue eyed population the least.

I see a direct connection between eye color and a propensity for violence here, but maybe it’s really black and blond hair colors that are the indicator.

But that seems to show the same correlation as well and somehow seems connected to dark brown and blue eyes.

So there has to be something somewhere, I just can’t seem to pin it down exactly.

“with what funds”??? huh? Do what the broke-ass USA!USA!USA! does! Just print the money!! You’re a sovereign nation, don’t you have a printing press?

Seriously, I have basically a zero chance of ever understanding money/economics.

I’m with D.C. why isn’t Chicago on that map?

Also, the Olympics are set to debut in Tokyo in 2020 while Fukushima still spews radiation.

Brazil has 32 of the top 50 most violent cities in the world and the Olympics are going to be there in four months. This is freaking crazy to say the least. What a horrible decision. Africa would have been better, at least they only have one city in the top 50.

Most people have no idea how violent Brazil is. I see Chicago mentioned. Chicago will have 500 or so murders this year. Rio and San Paolo have reached 5000 murders a year during bad years and 3500 on an average year.

El Salvador and Hondoras are even worse. They make Chicago look like Lake Forest or Leave it to Beaver. Murder rates 30 times higher than the US.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but…. Brazil has imported 1000’s of Muslim “refugees”, Rio has a huge statue of Christ overlooking the city as well as numerous cathedrals, and a dramatically slashed Olympic security budget. Hmm.
Look for the real games to begin on 8-14-16, in the evening, team Brazil soccer match. I think your average muggings, raping and murders will be back seat material when the real psychopaths unleash.

Just a thought.

Umm, I just got back from brazil saturday. Took 6 months of portuguese before I went, which helped. In person, it is no more apparent that the country is collapsing than it is that ours is. You expect it to be about equal to the dominican, puerto rico, or jamiaca, and it is. Power isnt always on, which is typical. I was in sao paolo mostly. Heliopolis is a crazy party favela. Baile de favela. No more or less safe feeling than areas of philly, nyc, or detroit. So if you are telling me that country is about to self destruct, then chicago is probably going first. I was all over brazil and felt perfectly safe. You couldnt make me go to chicago. Not safe. I’m too white.

“You couldnt make me go to chicago. Not safe. I’m too white.”

Chicago, like many US cities, is highly segregated in residential neighborhoods and crime. You go downtown or to a white area, you would probably be just fine. Literally 100’s of thousands of people do that five days a week. There are neighborhoods where your life expectancy would be measured in minutes, but you’d have to be stupid or suicidal to wind up in one of them. They aren’t close to downtown or interesting to tourists.

The same may well be true in Brazil, and is true in various countries I’ve been in. Know where you are and don’t go stupid places. Of course this becomes difficult in some countries (*ahem* central America) where there are no non-stupid places.

Favelas are ghettos. Some are very fucking bad. You still wont get attacked just for being white. I went there partly to see the ghettos/favelas and check out the music scene. I was in about 350 different favelas, and only got intimidated for what I would call a toll to enter some of them. Going to a small venue show in detroit near some public assistance type hi rises we were attacked by bottle and rock throwing children. It can be ugly down there, but its gang on gang and cop v. Gang, not racial at the drop of a dime. Poverty breeds drug dealing dirt bags every where you go. But the black v. White racial thing is more a US and s. Africa thing than anywhere else you go. And I have been alot of places I shouldnt have gone, and thats been my experience.

johnboy: good info. interesting. I haven’t been to Brazil. In the Caribbean I’ve found countries vary from some with minimal racial issues to some that are like what you describe of Detroit.

Which carribean countries did you feel black/white racial issues? Jamaica per chance? Jamaica struck me as somewhere that could go south quick. But I have black friends born there who now live in the states who I was travelling with. Else where in the carribean I have never felt any. Havent been to haiti though.
