I’ll be off-line for most of the next two days. Number one son is graduating from Penn State tomorrow. It looks like he was destined to graduate from Penn State, as he was already wearing their hat when he was driving pop pop’s boat at the age of three.
This would be our last 4 hour road trip on the PA Turnpike, but number two son has decided to go to Penn State too. He starts in August. We have many more road trips to go. I hope he doesn’t suck his thumb in class.
Kevin is breaking Avalon’s heart by moving to Colorado in three weeks to make his way in life. We’ve done our part. All those Donuts With Dad days over the years paid off. Except, I probably should have laid off the donuts.
We taught him to work hard and never give up. I thought I would never be as proud as I was when he was one of the key members of his championship hockey team. But, I think I’ll be prouder tomorrow when he gets his degree.
He is graduating with an IT degree in Security & Risk Analysis (whatever that means) with no student loan debt. I think we raised a good kid with a skeptical mind, who understands the difficult times that lie ahead. The ball is now in his court.
I’m hoping he can eventually run my TBP IT operation clandestinely when I need to go underground during the revolution.
If anyone out there in the Fort Collins area of Colorado needs a smart, hard working, liberty loving young IT person, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with Kevin. He’ll arrive in his new home during the first week of June.
But now it’s time to celebrate.

Llpoh- Why did the price rise in the first place? If you can’t tell me why then you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about. Considering you are just reading a fucking chart then you don’t know what was behind the Bitcoin price rising or why Mt.Gox collapsed. Hint- DEA corruption.
IS- Yes, but I can’t remember. It got fixed and I am buying a new car anyway.
Congrats to your son, Jim. Graduating for from college is one of life’s milestones, along with marriage, having kids, getting divorced and a court order for child support.
Okay, I am jaded. Why else would I be here?
The price rose because of a tulip type bubble. All sheep came running for a shearing.
Total volume of bitcoins worldwide dollar value traded per day is around $60million US. Hardly a game changer. It is extremely volatile re price day to day. Folks are getting fleeced. Thus the high volatility.
A semi-destitute ex-waitress prognosticating on a game changing financial instrument. Too funny. Good luck with that.
Btw – we naysayers naysaid well before Mt Gox collapsed.
T4C- The employment in Bitcoin startups and within the industry is BOOMING right now. There are so many jobs being created right within Bitcoin. This is why I recommend Admin’s son take an interest in Bitcoin. There are many engineering jobs for coders being created right now. This is a right now type of industry.
Llpoh- You’re an idiot.

I guess I’m an idiot too. The vast majority of bitcoin are owned by a few individuals. All they have to do is wait for the latest bubble and then sell of some of them. Rinse, repeat.
Yes, you too would be an idiot.

Bitcoin is not money. It is simply a speculative investment.
Zara- Nope. Wrong again.
I gather LLPOH is critical of the speculation going on with bitcoin. And Clammy is championing the possibility that bitcoin will fulfill its future as a digital debit card, free of banker fees and bank statements and purchase tracking.
Congrats Jim! Big day!!
Jim and Avalon,
Congratulations! Nick and I are excited because our son is arriving today for a brief overnight visit prior to his finals week at Missouri Science and Tech at Rolla. (Remember, he’s been with us for the first 20 years, so this year was his first away year ever!) This summer, he moves away for a JOB.
But, to you we give our highest honor… a debt free graduate. So far, our son is debt free thanks to bagging groceries and making pizzas. But, you’ve actually GRADUATED one. We salute you…and your young princes.

Sorry Clammy I had know idea you had made your fortune in bitcoins. I just did not want the young lad to end up waiting tables at Olive Garden. I’ve made it a practice to take all unsolicited advice with a grain of salt and too never take advice from my bartender or waitress about financial matters. That wisdom has served me well.
How did Y’all flip this thread to bitcoins? Only on TBP!
No idea
All the best to Kevin, Jim and Danielle. And good job, you two.
Here are two DONT’S for Kevin in Ft. Collins, a really neat and pleasant town.
—-Don’t live near places that can flood. Spring flooding is rare, but it happens.
—-Don’t start rooting for the Colorado State University Golden Rams football team just because you live in Ft. Collins. This is silly, silly I tell you. The wisest choice is to transfer your loyalty from the Nittany Lions to the Air Force Falcons. This will gain you widespread fame and many friends in the Ft. Collins area. Trust me on this. Heh.
Sensetti- I just said be interested, there is a difference between being involved in Bitcoin and following what is happening in the industry. Which is why I also advised following what is happening with Tech Crunch Disrupt as well as knowing where VC investors are putting their money. The biggest aspect of Bitcoin is Blockchain. Those who are naysayers don’t fully understand how Blockchain is a game changer to banking as well as commerce.
Congratulations to the new graduate!

Clammy, Bitcoin will not be worth a damn when this mountain of debt Comes crashing to the ground, War, death, destruction those things are certain. Bitcoin survival will not be known till after the great reset, no one knows who or what will be left standing. It’s on the same order as standing in Germany pre WW2 talking about the future of an outstanding business that in just a few short years no longer even existed and the country destroyed for a generation.
Dumbass people ignore this mountain of debt and believe it will somehow unwind peacefully, not a fucking chance. This fourth turning will be bloodier than the last. The numbers below are U.S. Numbers that don’t include World Derivatives market. See this
http://www.dailyfinance.com › 2010/06/09 › ri…
Mobile-friendly – Jun 9, 2010 – One of the biggest risks to the world’s financial health is the $1.2 quadrillion derivatives market.
United States National Debt $18,159,968,471,037.93
United States National Debt Per Person $56,568.57
United States National Debt Per Household $146,512.60
Total US Unfunded Liabilities $123,277,818,098,534.88
Social Security Unfunded Liability $15,109,147,085,903.48
Medicare Unfunded Liability $79,023,567,265,061.27
Prescription Drug Unfunded Liability $19,943,404,004,350.64
National Healthcare Unfunded Liability $9,201,699,743,219.48
Total US Unfunded Liabilities Per Person $384,012.23
Total US Unfunded Liabilities Per Household $994,591.67
United States Population 321,025,763
Now talk to me about how bitcoin is going to change the world. I’ll talk to you about a world on fire standing at the brink of World War. Its foolish to talk about the future of Bitcoin unless you can explain the debt posted above and just how it unwinds.
Admin and Avalon,
Congratulations, I just picked up my son yesterday from graduation. He finished his Chemical Engineering degree with a chemistry minor in the requisite four years. He has a very small loan that my wife and I will help him pay off. Interestingly out of a class of about 3500 to 4000 only 67 Chemical Engineers. Interesting demographic, about 70% white male. I counted about 10 women and surprisingly few Asians. My son was one of only 5 in the Honors College to graduate Chem E, as I told him it was a self selective group, people don’t accidentally end up there. I suspect he will be fine.
Funny thing happened on the way home about an hour out he realized he had forgotten to turn in his key. He was in my truck, my daughter was in my wife’s CRV, they both go to UMass. I turned off the Pike and turned around back to the school. He apologized and said he hoped the at I was not mad. I laughed and said I was happy because we got to talk together for another two hours. I consider that time priceless. I am forever thankful for what I have.
Bob.
