The Saker reported that during the May 9th Russian Victory Day celebration Russian Defense Minister Shoigu made the sign of the Cross before the beginning of the celebrations. Shoigu was very concentrated, very solemn, when he did this. The Saker believes that Shoigu quite literally asked for God’s help in one of the most dangerous moments in Russian history when he might be called to take momentous decisions on which the future of Russia and the planet might depend.
Citing sources, the Saker said this had a positive galvanizing effect on Russians.

“MARCHING TOWARDS WAR”
In the case of the U.S., it’s more a case of SASHAYING Towards War, isn’t it?
The mainstream media can say what they want-I don’t see this parade as a threat to me.
The Russians got every right to be proud of what they accomplished 70 years ago. The amount of suffering and struggle they went through makes us look like pikers in comparison.
Did anyone see how much the Western media gloated over one of their tanks breaking down during the rehearsal? It seemed very petty.

Gilberts – (and Llpoh) – you might both know how very little coverage the 70th anniversary of the Patriotic War got in Australia (none, mainstream), and the very few snippets on cable (Sky News – Murdoch of course!), mainly focussed on the minor hitch with a new Armata tank. I was particularly incensed by the “Official” line that Putin was “using the Patriotic War celebrations to drum up a sense of Nationalism”.
As Llpoh will no doubt confirm, “Down Under” we have been bombarded for MONTHS with the “Great Gallipoli Campaign” H100 anniversary celebrations – the same “successful” campaign that cost Churchill his Cabinet position (so, in fact a pretty abject failure by all accounts).
Seems that “Western” propaganda “isn’t propaganda”, and the very justifiable Russian pride in breaking the back of the Wermacht, is “unjustified”, or “sabre-rattling”.
Boy have we got it coming – in spades . . . . . . .

In New Zealand they also concentrated on Gallipoli. I did see, however, a documentary on a main channel that focused on the individual stories and had an overall sense of pointlessness about all of the brave (and inspired by visions of grandeur that hit them in the face, this was more or less said in the doco) young men and their deaths.

What are you talking about? Didn’t you know the US fought that war and the sequel and won them single-handedly for you while you all just sat around in craters and got athlete’s foot? If we could wordsmith it right, we could even eliminate the Germans from the story and recount how Americans bravely faced down other Americans to stop evil in Europe from destroying Europeans and single-handedly saved Western Civilization from itself. Throw racism, homophobia, and sexism into the tale and it’s game over.
