California produced 22 times more stupid people than really smart people (and we don’t need to administer standardized test to prove it); who’s doing is that?

Hey, at least our prisons are turning a profit, not counting the taxpayer subsidies.

In their fiscal condition they should be selling things off, not building.

Why is there twenty one orange prison outfits on the walls to represent twenty two prisons????

Perhaps a comment on the quality of that college.

There are 22 uniforms on the prison side–that image didn’t capture the one on the far left. This one does:

Prisons have become an industry. Profitable, perhaps so, but it’s despicable. Law enforcement and courts have turned the “justice system” into a corporate slave system where the slightest offense can ruin a life. It is sickening what this country has turned into…

“Now if we can only tax the hell out of all those prison inmates, we would have a balanced budget, maybe even a surplus.”

Gee! I wish I would have said that instead of Gov. Moonbeam.

Even a broken clock is right wife a day. I wonder if California got anything else right?

@Anarcho, prisons do NOT “turn a profit.”

That is only true if you totally discount 100% of the costs of pursuing, prosecuting, then tracking after their stay. And part of the costs during it.

For example, a kid in my home county was busted with less than 8 grams of cocaine. Street value of less than $700 dollars.

They set up a sting using around 10 cops ($50k a year for life plus $30k a year health insurance, for life at a month’s time), they paid an informant, they used a SWAT team to capture him, they had multiple trips to jail and bond, plus multiple court appearances. They paid 12 jurors to take 3 days off work and sit in a courtroom.

They paid baliffs, and clerks, and psychiatrists, and drug counselors, and pensions, and judges, and cops, and cops/court suppliers, and, and, and..

All BEFORE he was sent to jail for EIGHT years at the cost of about $47k per year, in today’s dollars, guaranteed to be more before he gets out.

And then we will pay p.o.s and counselors and cops, again.

Screw you “profitable.”

We applaud our destruction, feel safer while submitting easier to the slaughter.

I remember why I haven’t been here.

Great point, T.E. Is busting a street-dealing kid REALLY worth that much taxpayer money? Same goes for all the wars we’ve started in the M.E. Where’s the benefit?
