Saw a pair of Australian based articles on Drudge the other day that talked about how minnies would quit their jobs if their employer didn’t let them text from work and another about how employers are just going to have to adapt to the desires of the workforce regarding smart phone usage at work.

My first reaction was to instantly think of half a dozen ways I’d “adapt” to the desires of the workforce in this regard if I owned a business. Then I thought of LLPOH “adapting” to this situation. Nuff said!

The hospital my wife works at just started banning cell phone use at work entirely. They all got a letter detailing the new policy which included two phone numbers for each employee to give to friends and family to call in case of an emergency and were reminded to update their children’s school info to reflect these new contact numbers as cell phones at work are no longer allowed. Apparently you get one warning and then you get all the free time you want to use your cell phone after that. They were also told that text messages are no longer acceptable forms of communication for official work matters like calling in sick or replying via text when contacted by your supervisor for those in on-call positions. It would seem that the hospital has found a way to adapt to the desires of the work force……..turn your phone off during work hours or find another job.
