DC,
“I think I’ll stay home for the next 10 years.” I hear you, also glad you are commenting again.

Writes DC Sunsets: “You know it’s getting bad out there when people are talking about carting around Level III or IV body armor….”
Hm? Combining aerobic conditioning (lots of walking) with incidental weight training (don’t forget longarms, sidearms, and lots of ammunition in addition to ballistic protection!) as an enhancement of normal daily activities has got to be beneficial for all able-bodied Americans, right?
Think of this as a wonderful modality in the improvement of public health.

“…I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.”
— Thomas Jefferson, letter to his fifteen-year-old nephew, Peter Carr, regarding what he considered the best form of exercise (1785)
DC, body armor purchases also have to do with pending legislation banning it.
For instance PA has a bill in the works just for that, of course it excludes 2nd responders.
For those interested, id recommend the versions with side plates as well, 20 lbs for the rig is a good approximation.

Mike in CT reminds us: “There are No second place winners in gun fights….”
There’s no “winner” in being an utterly soft target, either.
As we progress through the last year of our Indonesian-in-Chief’s usurpation of the U.S. presidency, it’s a boatload better “New guys/girls w guns” than *NO* guys or girls with guns.
It’s all about how you define “first responders”.
Official relied upon First Responders, only minutes away when seconds count.
Logic does not frame this topic’s discussion anywhere.
You know it’s getting bad out there when people are talking about carting around Level III or IV body armor, or buying one of these
and adding either soft armor (for pistol/shotgun rounds) or the aforementioned plates.
For the record, just a front-and-back of soft armor can weigh about 5-6 lbs. Steel rifle plates are about 15 lbs I think. What a load….
I think I’ll stay home for the next 10 years.
If you want to know what the future holds this is it.
In Nova Scotia they want to get shot phone the police and hope you don’t bleed to death before the cops get there…
