Former NATO Commander Predicts Nuclear War With Russia Within Next Year

Guest Post by Jason Ditz

Former NATO deputy commander Gen. Sir Alexander Richard Shirreff has published a new book, called 2017 War With Russia, in which he predicts a full-scale nuclear war between NATO and Russia, saying the sides are heading “inexorably” for a nuclear exchange, and that the war will start next May.

The book’s narrative follows the same expectations as other NATO officials who have been angling for bigger budgets and more military buildup, claiming Russian President Vladimir Putin will just randomly invade NATO member nations and start a huge war out of the blue.

Sir Richard says Russia feels “encircled” by NATO, and will invade Latvia in May, and threaten nuclear war if NATO isn’t okay with that. NATO won’t be okay with that, and so the world will basically end with the same nuclear holocaust NATO has hung over our heads for generations.

As with most Western generals, his “solution” is the make the problem even bigger, saying he believes Russia can be scared away from war by sending more NATO troops and vehicles to Russia’s border, which would of course make them feel even more encircled.

Sir Richard argued Putin wants to make Russia “a great power” through the war, though why Russia with Latvia would be a significantly greater power than Russia by itself is unclear.

U.S. and Obama are the bad guys, not Russia and Putin.

Hopefully, Trump will leave NATO thereby sending it to the dumpster – will he win the battle over the warmongers?

NATO should divest itself of countries on Russia border.

We’re enemies huh? Meanwhile, we paying them to launch satellites? Actors on a stage, we’re the audience paying for the show.

Russia only occupies countries to turn them into ‘speed bumps’ against aggressive neighbors. Since there is absolutely no possibility of a land invasion of Russia from Europe (unless they gathered up the Syrian refugees and headed them in Russia’s direction…lol), then Russia will not occupy any Baltic state. It costs too much anyway and would be pointless.

I would be surprised if it wasn’t north of 90% of people that wouldn’t be able to find Estonia on a map.

So this general figures it’s a good idea to end the world because…. Estonia.

What a fucking joke. I say boil some rope for this warmonger…

The Russians have enough land. They have access to Baltic via St. Petersburg. What in the hell do they need Estonia for. If those folks can’t make nice with Bear then they deserve to get the claw.

If it comes to end world or letting Putin takeover that place then I say let the Russians have it.

If we go to war with Russia we will not win.

For may reasons.

But it would be devastating to a large part of the world who would end up blaming us for their resulting problems and ally against us in the future.
