“We played Macon, Georgia, with a Lynyrd Skynyrd, it was a rock-and-roll hoedown,
And when they let that Free Bird fly, well now you know they wasn’t foolin’ around!
It was a Large Time – you should have heard those guitars squall,
We had us a large, real Large Time you all! Sure had us a ball!”
Best concert I ever went to. There is nothing like a wall of gitars (redneck phonetics and proud of it) playin ass loud.

Driving north to visit family in New England I spent a night with friends south of the Mason Dixon Line. The next morning, on a back road to I-81 North I hit a garage sale and found a bunch of primo boxed CD sets. Lynyrd Skynyrd was in the treasure trove. Synchronicity followed. My brother and his bro-in-law’s lady from Carolina riffing on “Gimme Three Steps”, over a lobster dinner in Mystic, CT. Told them of my find, gave the set to my brother the musician. Sweet Home Alabama is one of the sweetest music videos ever. Great song, great band, great video. Life is grand.

In these hills, Leonard Skynard is considered a philosopher. Just try telling some of these good ole boys it was a “group” name and they are gone. They won’t have it.
