Land mines would be cheaper and more effective.

But there is probably some stupid rule against them.

Mexican hits a mine – WTF – beans all over the place.

How many Mexicans to eat a rabbit? Two – one to eat it, one to watch for cars.

If 100 whites running down a hill is an avalanche, and 100 blacks running down a hill is a mud slide, 100 Mexicans running down a hill is a jail break.

Trump should just sign an executive order to slash the price of concrete by half and use prison labor at less than third world slave prices like the Pentagon who use prisoners to make all uniforms bed rolls, etc.etc.

This might sound crazy – but I’m so fucking sick of Mexicans I never will eat in another Mexican restaurant – no matter who owns it. I have come to hate these people.

You are entitled to your opinion, so it’s not crazy. I’m assuming your opinion is based on actual interactions, rather than what is read in print or seen on TV.

Personally, I simply can not say the same thing.

If I were to list actual and personal run-ins I’ve had with kneegrows, we would be here until late in the evening.

Your comment made me think. And I can honestly not remember a single negative issue involving Mexicans. On an individual-to-individual basis my experiences have been all friendly and positive. Don’t hate me for having such experiences.

My beef with Mexicans is general . First, the language thing. Secondly, a certain percentage (it seems large, but I don’t actually know) have their first loyalty directed at Mexico.

For example, this may seem trivial, but look at USA-Mexico soccer games. In games that take place here, the Mexican crowd will boo and jeer the Americans mercilessly. This is an abomination. For games in Mexico, the same happens, only worse, along with obscene gestures and shit being thrown at them.

Lastly, I fucken love Mexican food.

I think the projected cost of “The Wall” is somewhere in the neighborhood of what we spent sending Oreo and the Wookie on vacations for the last 8 years. Chicken feed in the long run.

Besides, how much do we spend on giving illegals free housing, healthcare and EBT? Figure that in also.

Boondoggle. Won’t work. Waste of time, money and resources.

Systematically go after the employers of illegals with the laws already on the books — problem solved.

I will take 2% of the projected cost as my commission for this yuge, brilliant solution! LOL

We can both, you know. Besides, since when do we not do something just because it’s a boondoggle? $20 billion is about 40 hours’ worth of federal spending. It’s a rounding error.

This is one area where I think the Fair Tax has real merit. If it costs you more to be here illegally than legally, then you won’t be an illegal. Forget going after the employers (or rather don’t forget it, but prioritize it lower). Make it a worse deal for the person who is here illegally, give them a way to be here legally with effort (like learning the language, history, etc), and make sure they are bringing something of value with them (the willingness to do jobs we don’t want to do, special skills or training, high level of education, lots of resources, etc). I don’t mind a secure border, but the way to keep the people out that you don’t want is to make it a bad deal for them. They’ll keep themselves out.

So instead of building a wall for a lousy $20 billion, all we have to do is completely overhaul our tax system? Why didn’t I think of that? Next up, I’ll save $8 on a ham sandwich by growing my own wheat and raising a pig in my back yard. #FuckMeDead (h/t Stuck)

Because the current system is working out so well for you? Of course it is. Since it is mostly embedded you don’t see it. If you don’t see it it isn’t there. Just ask any progressive. Out of sight; out of mind. Out of mind; not real.

I have an idea, how about deny the merit I posited instead of attacking a phantom I did not.

Nations with borders are a result of the languages being confused at Babylon. When they could no longer communicate with each other they segregated into the groups that were left with a common language.
Therefore any attempt to destroy the nation state system of gov’t and replace it with globalism is a rejection of the creator God’s established order.
This is the main reason that the UN and the trade agreements are so evil. They are bent on the eradication of the sovereign state God established.
Build the wall! Not out of hatred, but out of allegiance to both God and country.

Get the fuck outta here. Have you ever been to Alabama? I could scarcely understand those people who were supposedly speaking the same language as I.
This is why some people don’t take these Bible stories seriously; it’s painfully obvious they’re made up by Bronze Age people trying to make sense of their world.

We don’t really need a wall. Bring all our military home and make the first 20 miles inland of the border a militarized zone. Then cut off ALL the bennies for illegals- NO sanctuary cities, no welfare, no bilingual anything, particularly bilingual education for the children, no jobs (jail time for hiring illegals), no drivers licenses, and these people will deport themselves. Add asset forfeiture and double that.

That said, whatever we spend on the wall will be less that what would be spent on these parasites and their offspring in the coming years; imagine how much America would have saved had the slaves been sent back to Africa after they were freed as Lincoln intended.

It seems to be a built-in flaw of people who discuss construction without experience. Cement and concrete are not interchangeable products.

There are two line items on the chart above, one for concrete, one for cement. Concrete contains cement, but cement alone cannot be used for building a wall. I don’t see any line items for aggregate and sand, so either the person preparing it is trying to double bill for materials or he/she/it/xe/xer/zizzle doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

NPR is constantly interchanging the words cement and concrete when they report without seeming to understand the difference. Must use the same sources.

@HSF:

I saw that, too, and couldn’t figure it out. I thought they were intentionally breaking out the cost of the cement from the cost of the concrete, for some reason.

What you said makes much more sense. They just don’t know.

From various articles and reports I have read, it is estimated that between 40%-55%+ of illegals in the country are visa overstays. (Wide varience-immigration doesn’t really know). Even if a “Maginot” wall is built, and Mexicans can’t find a ladder 1 foot longer than the wall is high, what about the overstays?

Are you sure that the 40-55% applies inclusively to all illegals in the country or just the ones that have been granted visa’s to start with?

Best I can figure, 40-55% of all illegals residing in the US came to the country legally, then stayed after visa time expired. Back some years ago, immigration services would count visa visitors, but did not count them going out, so it was a big guess. I think all that has changed, but don’t know for sure.

You want to identify the overstays? Should be fairly simple from State Dept. records.
Suppose you can’t find 50% of them, that they went / go underground. Post a bounty; if you identify an illegal, you get $5,000: if you MIS-identify an illegal, you lose $1000. The people that know will make a pile; the ones that are illegal will get deported. All you have to do to avoid deportation is show your VALID (non-forged) green card, and you’re good.
By the way, make it a crime to delay deportation of an illegal; including LEGAL personnel. That way, endless delaying motions and writs of various kinds don’t earn lawyers easy paydays. If you defend a legal alien from deportation, you get your fees. If you defend an ILLEGAL alien from deportation, YOU GET DEPORTED WITH THEM, persona non grata, and can never return. We need to stop illegal aliens from using our laws against us!
