Devin Nunes just set the cat down among the pigeons.
Two days after FBI Director James Comey assured us there was no truth to President Trump’s tweet about being wiretapped by Barack Obama, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Trump may have had more than just a small point.
The U.S. intelligence community, says Nunes, during surveillance of legitimate targets, picked up the names of Trump transition officials during surveillance of targets, “unmasked” their identity, and spread their names around, virtually assuring they would be leaked.
If true, this has the look and smell of a conspiracy to sabotage the Trump presidency, before it began.

Comey readily confirmed there was no evidence to back up the Trump tweet. But when it came to electronic surveillance of Trump and his campaign, Comey, somehow, could not comment on that.
Which raises the question: What is the real scandal here?
Is it that Russians hacked the DNC and John Podesta’s emails and handed them off to WikiLeaks? We have heard that since June.
Is it that Trump officials may have colluded with the Russians?
But former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and ex-CIA Director Mike Morrell have both said they saw no evidence of this.
This March, Sen. Chris Coons walked back his stunning declaration about transcripts showing a Russia-Trump collusion, confessing, “I have no hard evidence of collusion.”
But if Clapper and Morrell saw no Russia-Trump collusion, what were they looking at during all those months to make them so conclude?
Was it “FBI transcripts,” as Sen. Coons blurted out?
If so, who intercepted and transcribed the conversations? If it was intel agencies engaged in surveillance, who authorized that? How extensive was it? Against whom? Is it still going on?
And if today, after eight months, the intel agencies cannot tell us whether or not any member of the Trump team colluded with the Russians, what does that say of their competence?

The real scandal, which the media regard as a diversion from the primary target, Trump, is that a Deep State conspiracy to bring down his presidency seems to have been put in place by Obamaites, and perhaps approved by Obama himself.
Consider. On Jan. 12, David Ignatius of the Washington Post wrote,
“According to a senior U.S. government official, (Gen. Michael) Flynn phoned Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak several times on Dec. 29, the day the Obama administration announced the expulsion of 35 Russian officials … What did Flynn say?”
Now, on Dec. 29, Flynn, national security adviser-designate, was not only doing his job calling the ambassador, he was a private citizen.
Why was he unmasked by U.S. intelligence?
Who is this “senior official” who dropped the dime on him? Could this official have known how many times Flynn spoke to Kislyak, yet not known what was said on the calls?
That is hard to believe. This looks like a contract hit by an anti-Trump agent in the intel community, using Ignatius to do the wet work.
Flynn was taken down. Did Comey turn his FBI loose to ferret out the felon who had unmasked Flynn and done him in? If not, why not?
In today’s Wall Street Journal, Dan Henninger points anew to a story in The New York Times of March 1 that began:
“In the Obama administration’s last days, some White House officials scrambled to spread information about Russian efforts to undermine the presidential election — and about possible contacts between associates of President-elect Trump and Russians — across the government.”
“This is what they did,” wrote Henninger, quoting the Times:
“At intelligence agencies, there was a push to process as much raw intelligence as possible into analyses, and to keep the reports at a relatively low classification level to ensure as wide a readership as possible across the government — and, in some cases, among European allies.”
For what benign purpose would U.S. intelligence agents spread secrets damaging to their own president — to foreign regimes? Is this not disloyalty? Is this not sedition?
On Jan. 12, writes Henninger, the Times “reported that Attorney General Loretta Lynch signed rules that let the National Security Agency disseminate ‘raw signals intelligence information’ to 16 other intelligence agencies.”
Astounding. The Obamaites seeded the U.S. and allied intel communities with IEDs to be detonated on Trump’s arrival. This is the scandal, not Trump telling Vlad to go find Hillary’s 30,000 missing emails.
We need to know who colluded with the Russians, if anyone did. But more critically, we need to unearth the deep state conspiracy to sabotage a presidency.
So far, the Russia-connection investigation has proven a dry hole. But an investigation into who in the FBI, CIA or NSA is unmasking U.S. citizens and criminally leaking information to a Trump-hating press to destroy a president they are sworn to serve could prove to be a gusher.
As for the reports of Lynch-White House involvement in this unfolding plot to damage and destroy Trump the real question is: What did Barack Obama know, and when did he know it?
Just like everything else Obama has done. Nothing will be done about it.

Totally agree. Let’s remember one thing; affirmative action trumps (no pun intended) everything else. He is part of the oligarchy and he has affirmative action on his side. Hilary proved only one of those things are needed to escape any consequences. Obama has both. Eric Holder had both and was untouchable. Like Holder, and even more so, Obama is untouchable. Absolutely nothing will come of this.

Hmmm…the real scandal, lemmesee… Oh, how about the fact that Trump isn’t even fighting back? That he’s keeping Comey on as FBI director, or that he chose Sessions the Recuser as his AG. The real scandal is that Trump is keeping Obama’s “foreign policy” of international intrigue, foreign intervention and war, and providing cover for obvious felons like the Clintons.
If that ain’t the real scandal, it’s at least A REAL SCANDAL. How about that, Pat? How about a little of that?
How about you rethink your nasty comment? Trump is fighting back. He tweeted that Obama “wiretapped” him which put it out in the public. Comey will be exposed when he lies about (which he already did) and refuses to answer the Committee’s letter (which is dated March 15th). Trump is building the basis for firing Comey for something other than “Trump is trying to hide the Russia collusion”. I had hoped he would fire Comey as soon as he came into office but he didn’t. He’s not a politician but he should be learning fast and I think he is. He should fire Comey and his deputy who is dirty because his wife accepted $500,000 from McCauliffe to run for office during the presidential election. The press started its narrative about the Russia collusion and out of an abundance of caution Sessions recused himself, which I also wish he had not done. I read that the investigation then fell to an Obama holdover because the Senate had not confirmed his deputy, but the deputy is on board now. Trump is not keeping Obama’s foreign policy. On the contrary he blew up the “Strategic Patience” policy towards North Korea, he’s putting real pressure on China to reign in NK, he’s now part of a real group to kill ISIS, he shook up NATO and he’s defunding the UN. Next I expect him to bring back the troops in Afghanistan and stop that bleeding hole in our budget. He’s only been in office for 60 days. He can’t unwind all of Obama’s BS in two months but I think he’s on the right path.
Exactly. The FBI director has a ten year term. Trump can ask for his resignation (which Comey would refuse) or he can fire him for cause. Evidence for “cause” is building up.

Trump has become a politician. He could have fired Comey on inauguration day. He could have withdrawn the appointment of sessions when Sessions said he would recuse himself from prosecuting Hillary. He could have targeted these “refugee” programs before tackling anything else, but he started playing politician instead.
The real scandal is his continuation of Obama’s foreign policy. That’s exactly what he’s doing and he didn’t need any political capital to start in on it. His use of executive orders was entirely proper, unlike the EOs issued by the past 6 presidents. Still, he backed off as soon as some fucking judges issued an unenforceable ruling.
Face it, Trump isn’t doing shit. He’s going to continue to fail to do shit. Two years from now, you’ll still be saying “Give him time” or “they’re playing right into his hands”, just like W’s idiot supporters did right up until he left office. Ok, I will make one nasty comment about Trump: He’s acting just like a republican.
I continue to have hopes for Trump to prevail. He has done many good things, as pointed out by some comments here. But he at times looks like a football quarterback standing on a baseball pitcher’s mound. I suppose that’s to be expected since he isn’t a “seasoned” politician.

Even though you commented about foreign policy here and you are mostly correct, I am bringing in domestic policy,and I down voted you.
Trump is about to lose me and millions of his supporters because of Trumpcare.His announcing that if the House does not pass Trumpcare he will keep Obamacare is complete garbage.
I think it is more a case of Congress flubbing this, so Trump is going to let their angry constituents keelhaul them for a while as he moves to another subject. When he returns to this subject it will be a neat, agreed upon package with a lot more Freedom Caucus input than Ryan RINO establishment input. Many are unaware that Trump’s budget guy was a leader of the Freedom Caucus. They will be shown in no uncertain terms that when Trump is dealing and they try to go Bush establishment RINO shithead on him, they are going to be punished in real terms.

I remember during the two years or so leading up to the election, some news source or another would regularly remind us that James Comey was a spectacularly honest man, so wonderful to have as FBI Director. These pronouncements I always thought a bit odd.
Eventually, everything makes sense.
I believe when we find out who the ‘leaker’ is…. it will be a person at a very high level – it may be the biggest scandal ever in our government.
