The 118-foot, 3,500-year-old bald cypress tree known as “The Senator” in Longwood, Florida, was not only the state’s oldest tree, and the fifth oldest tree in the whole country, but also the largest tree of any type east of the Mississippi.

I immediately chuckled at the sub title when I read it. Seemed like an appropriate metaphor for the world in which we live.
This was not my idea of a “feel good” story.
It’s sad that the tree is gone.
It’s sad that this woman’s life is so messed up.
