I will be off-line for the rest of the day. We will be burying my second nephew to die far too soon in the last year. Unexpected, unforeseeable deaths of young people is far tougher to comprehend than when our parents or grandparents pass away. The Romano family has had to bear too much tragedy in the last few years. But, we’ll go on and help each other make it through. Don’t take your family for granted. You never know when tragedy will strike. Hug your kids. Call your mom. Reconcile with siblings. Celebrate Thanksgiving with all your heart. Steve was a great guy. He endured a lot of pain without a complaint. We’ll miss him dearly.
Steven A. Romano Jr, 37, of Norristown, went to be with the lord on Friday, November 3, 2017. Steven was born in Philadelphia on April 10, 1980 and is the beloved son of Steven A. Sr. and Deborah (Hendricks) Romano. He was Michael and Heather’s big brother.
Steve was a Disabled veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served 11 years in squadrons VP-66, VR-52 and VR-58. His fantasy football name was “Stop kneeling STAND!”. Steve enjoyed playing all sports, shooting pool, coaching and mentoring. He coached Norristown A.A. senior legion baseball, Pope John Paul II High school baseball, golf, and numerous little league baseball and football teams.
He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Steve’s true passion was his family, and watching movies with his mommy. He is also survived by his grandmother Gloria “Cookie” Romano, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond R, and Doris J (Pisano) Romano, William and Francis (Cottetta) Hendricks, Sister in Law Jennifer (Dayoc) Romano and his cousin Steven W. Romano Jr. Steve loved his niece and nephews Michael Jr., Leah, Jason, Cameron, Ke’Von and John.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Saturday, November 11 at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi church Norristown. Burial St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Fischer House or National Kidney Foundation.
So sorry.
Jim, sorry for the loss affecting your family. All too often many people never think much beyond the next 10 minutes. As I once read and now keep in mind as I live each day and interact with others, “What if tomorrow doesn’t come?” Keeping such words close to our heart will encourage us to hug our kids, be kind to one another and treat others as we would like to be treated. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you family this weekend. John
…condolences…

“Don’t take your family for granted.”
That’s the truth. Everything else is fools gold.
My sincere condolences. May he now be pain and trouble-free, at ease, peace, and rest waiting for you and all loved ones to join him at God’s appointed time.
Sorry for your lost Admin .Death can come at any moment and it can really hurt. You and your family will be in my prayers today.
This has got to be the worst way to spend Veterans Day. Sorrow upon sorrow. God bless your family.
It seems there are no end to sorrows in this brief time we spend on earth. You are not alone in your grief.
FWIW, condolences.
Dang Admin, that sucks. Hang in there man.
It all seems so wrong at that young age. What seems right is the family he had that you have described a few times on TBP. Sorry for your loss.
Jim, My deepest condolences.
This won’t make you feel better. It is not meant to. There is nothing anyone can say.
You don’t get over loss. You have to walk through the grief and feel the pain, and it hurts.

May the pain recede and be lost in the happier memories, which is the best way to honor and remember the departed. Our condolences for your loss, too soon.
Sorry for your loss.
My condolences, Jim.
Sincere condolences to you and your family.
Ah, the poor descendants of the Romano (your wife’s) family, Jim. Ah, the poor descendants of SSS’s family. Ah, the poor descendants of the supreme and forgotten soldiers who have served our country in the Revolutionary War.
All have been and will be forgotten with what I consider the greatest statement EVER on history by Abraham Lincoln …. “The silent artillery of time.”
