Kinks are second only to the Beatles in influence and importance as a british import from the 60’s. My opinion.

I absolutely agree. If you haven’t already, check out their double live album ( cd ) To The Bone 1996 Guardian Records. Great stuff. Every now and then a used copy comes up for sale on eBay. Quite rare. Trust me, you’ll love it.
Rare? Wow, not available on Amazon. Whod’a thunk it. I have that one. Bought it when it came out.
“To the Bone” was the last song they released. You know the song that brings forth a memory of someone..

My all time favorite Kinks’ tune. One of the few sung by Dave Davies instead of Ray. They extended, live version and the studio version are both great as is the cover by Chocolate Watchband. It was a great time to be alive back then…………………..

@TO13- That’s one of the covers I mentioned. There is a surprising number of covers on YT.
Here’s one of my favorite Kinks tunes:
Poignant, and it rocks.

I saw the Kinks in the early 80’s,while a great band live and studio really do not see them as right behind the Beatles as a Brit import to the states. That said, they did help bring Van Halen to the spot light with Halens cover of Girl.I saw Halen as a back up band in the begining to Sabbaths final tour of original members, that also was one hell of a show!

The lyrics are more relevant today than when they were written in the 60’s…
“I won’t take all that they hand me down,
And make out a smile, though I wear a frown,
And I won’t take it all lying down,
‘Cause once I get started I go to town.
‘Cause I’m not like everybody else,”

Nice oldie.
I have noticed that admin and I seem to have the same taste in music.
Don’t draw attention to that … might make Avalon suspicious.
