Guest Post by Jenny Taverns
Terrorism, education, economy and the topic that Americans fancy the most, ‘Ineffective government’, are all going strong as ever. These subjects are like the customary inheritance for an average American today.
Even Millennials or Echo boomers as they call it, who are supposed to have similar ideas, are divided in how they think and feel about these issues. This is doing nothing but ensuring the debates continue.
Generation X is more inspired by social media and everyday trends that go viral. The latest Pew Research fact file said, 88% of all young adults are using some type of social media, which is a testimony to it.
Having said this, there is another section of society which has little to do with what is being talked of in the mainstream media.
It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Please consider contributing an amount commensurate to the value that you receive from this site and community, or even by becoming a sustaining supporter through periodic contributions. They are pushing the cause which they think is right. What’s interesting is that these actions and events are low key but they are incessantly working to realize it.
I am not side on with my opinion but do you not think these debates are too intricate to produce an outright winner?
Read on to understand what I’m referring to here –
- Internet Privacy –
In the recent years, several civil rights groups have taken up the issue of internet privacy. They want to see the next generation of technology which is efficient enough to preserve online privacy of the common man.
They feel people should not be restricted for putting their private information online, rather they should be able to control it efficiently.
There is also a question mark on government surveillance and watchdog agencies. Outdated policies and online privacy laws have been held accountable over and over again.
Corporations and private aggregators too feel the wrath but they continue to rake in revenues as the number of online shoppers continues to rise.
And that’s not unethical either!
Do we have a way out or keep looking at technology to churn out progressive codes?
Or people are unjustified in pushing for regulations, especially when using internet and sharing information is still their prerogative?
- Cannabis Contest –
Cannabis has a bigger support but still debatable. Big corporates, democrats, leaders, commercial entities, medical professionals and celebrities, they have shown some backing in one way or the other.
Factors like illegal usage and contrasting research studies have perhaps leveraged the debate all these years.
Cannabis is classified as Schedule 1 controlled substance, known to be impacting every organ in the body. Positively or not – the question remains to be answered.
Though there is some evidence that Marijuana and its byproducts are helpful in subsiding pain and reducing anxiety besides helping in a number of medical conditions, it may also trigger psychosis and addiction, a fact which is fueling the argument.
- Veganism –
On one side, we have young initiatives like what the students at University of Southern California did last August. They opened up an all vegan, plant-based dining station to promote Veganism.
In fact, vegan options across several colleges and universities in the US doubled in 2016. This was plain due to rise in demand for Vegan food.
Rising social responsibility towards animals and ecosystem is likely to be driving it.
Veganism has an increase of 600% from 2014 with 6% of all Americans known to be Vegans today. People are adopting healthy foods and recipes which is essentially what the Traditional Diet advocates – ‘have more of fruits and veggies’.
This being said, what about the rest 94% who are still carnivores?
What plans do they (Vegan advocates) have to pacify millions of people associated with meat and dairy business?
Are they confident of raising their children on a vegan diet, without having to hit with malnutrition and deficiency?
No Takeaways –
This is getting too difficult indeed. And purely because it is like it, we don’t tend to see them occupying space in the daily tabloid.
These will remain quiet and go on!

There is a large contingent of people with an even lower-sound “debate” with those who push these ideas by both verbiage and physical force.
It is a contingent never spoken of in most media, though those that have their ears and eyes firmly planted on social media and audio communications know and fear them, and are carefully trying not to push them too far.
They are the contingent that convinced those with their hands on the lever of power to pull it not in their intended direction, but into neutral during the last election.

Remember, NICS checks are only per person/per purchase, not per person/per weapon, only around 30 states use the FBI system due to state check systems, and in many states the NICS check is waived by having a valid CCW/CWP/PTC.
That means that even the almost-20 year background check total is 280 MILLION, the actual number of purchases is sure to be much higher.
Modern firearms have been around for a hundred years before that, and were built to last many lifetimes, passed down as treasured heirlooms.
And that scares the shit out of those in the know who wish to control you.
In fact, it is the only thing that matters to them.
Inferior to our regulars on their worst days. Mind expanding to an ant perhaps. Pardon the candor Ms. T, I’m sure you have better stuff still lurking within. Gonna have to be a tad more edgy to make it here. Peace.
At least it made you comment 😉 I generally put such discussions aside. But thanks for motivating Jack. I’ll learn in course.
Most people can’t stay on the vegan diet for one year. It’s very overblown by the media.

I think Vegan % would grow from here if you survey different people every time. Not sure if it is possible to study the same set after 2-3 years but we’ll have a more accurate figure then. I assume if you can refrain for that much time, then you can sustain.
