How Our Country Was Stolen

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Today is Easter, an important Christian holiday. But it is not marked on the calendar that is part of the Apple software that came with my Apple computer lap top. Today is also April Fools day, and that is marked on the Apple-supplied calendar. For Apple’s programmers, April Fools Day trumps Easter.

How can it be that an American company, Apple, can remember to mark on the calendar Cinco de Mayo (May 5), Mexico’s commemoration of a Mexican army victory of the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862, but not Easter?

Hanukkah on December 13, but not Easter?

Kwanzaa on December 26, but not Easter?

Groundhog Day on February 2, but not Easter?

St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, but not Easter?

Earth Day on April 22, but not Easter?

First Day of Ramadan Muslim holiday on May 15, but not Easter?

Eid al-Fitr marking the end of Ramadan on June 15-17, but not Easter?

Eid al-Adha, the Muslim Sacrifice Feast, on August 20, but not Easter?

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, on September 10, but not Easter?

Yom Kippur, Jewish holiday on September 19, but not Easter?

Ashura, Muslim holiday, on September 20, but not Easter?

Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, on November 7, but not Easter?

This is how our culture is stolen and our memories are dimmed. In my day the spring holiday was known as Easter Holiday. Today it is known as Spring Break, a time for drunken and sexually promiscuous bacchanal on Florida’s beaches.

The United States was founded as a Christian nation. It did not mean that a citizen had to be a Christian or be punished or sent off in exile if they were not. It meant simply that you had to consider others and to be able to look yourself in the mirror in the morning. Christianity gave American culture a moral tone. Yes, I know, there were many hypocrites and many evil things done, but there was a standard by which to judge. Where is a standard today to judge Washington’s destruction entirely on the basis of lies of numerous countries and millions of peoples in the 21st century? Except for a handful of people, nothing is said critical of Washington’s massive ongoing war crimes. The American media celebrates the war crimes.

Today an American, or one in the important cities, cannot look himself or herself in the mirror unless they have ripped off some trusting or powerless person or persons. Judging by the carnage that Americans have inflicted in the 21st century alone on Afghans, Iraqis, Libyans, Syrians, Pakistanis, Somalias, Serbians, and, by supporting Israel and Saudi Arabia, on Palestinians and Yemenis, Americans have ceased to consider others except as unexceptional and dispensable people, who can be driven into the ground without upsetting any American’s concept of right and wrong.
Indeed, American “diplomats” tell other governments, “do as I say or we will bomb you into the Stone Age.”

Little wonder the second most important Christian celebration—Easter—has disappeared from Apple Computer’s calendar and that one or two atheists and a handful of Jews have managed to prevent Christmas from any longer being a public celebration. Today Christmas has been reduced to a spending spree.

A country without a unifying moral culture is no longer a country. Yet, what pretends to be a country, the US, is being led into war against Russia, a real country. There is no chance whatsoever of the US prevailing in the oncoming war.

Without it, the rising of Jesus from the grave, there would be no Christianity or the salvation it offers.

Because someone wanted to honor paganism and keep people from wondering what the word ‘passover’ means. Christians should be ashamed to use pagan words to refer to our commemorations when we have perfectly good biblical terms for them [ which can be biblically defined ].

gnome is right, this is a bs article written for the knee jerks. Easter is a floating holiday, they got most of the fixed holidays right.

Let me tell you something, pyrr-ass, Cinco de Mayo is not a national Mexican holiday. The date is remembered as the Battle of Cinco de Mayo when a rag-tag band of Mexicans overcame the French occupiers. It was a battle, the war was won later. The real celebration is Mexican Independence Day on 16 September.

Like St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Chicago, Cinco de Mayo celebrations in LA are a commercial enterprise by breweries to sell beer. So put away your misplaced indignation and knock back a few on 5 May.

As for the story about America being stolen, the same story is told on the other side of the missing wall. Thanks to NAFTA, Mexico is heavily dotted with American fast food eateries and big box stores like Walmart and Home Depot.

Funny that the big box stores ruined small shops but now they complain that Amazon is ruining them. Sheesh. Maybe Uncola can ‘splain it all for us.

jimminy, it’s a local celebration in Puebla, the battle-site. Here in America, they are simply celebrating an excuse for drinking, which is what Halloween and all those other holidays really are.

As for Easter, I saw a bunch of idiots driving like crazy on the streets, racing and display of speed. The wife reports two fights at the local liquor store, I’m not sure but I think she said people got shot. Easter, indeed.

seriously— at least they can say they won at least something. Eventually they will be like the Muzzies of Europe.
The muzzies predicted they would conquer Europe without firing a shot and it is happening– the Mexicans have conquered the SouthWest US without a declaration of war also– maybe they are more clever than we give them credit for.
They are the majority in our largest economic state, Americans labour their butts off to pay hundreds of billions in freebies to them, we now must “press two for English” and they get tens of billions in tax returns even without citizenship and many without reportable income. Sadly, it appears as if they are kicking our butts.

In 1991 author William Greider published a book titled “Who Will Tell The People”. It detailed the wholesale bribery occurring under the Capitol Dome and that was almost 30 years ago. JMO but America is gone and there’s no voting our way out of this. There are no Democrat and Republican parties. There’s only the Uniparty, the deep state rubber stamp. As the late, great George Carlin said”…..they’re put there to give you the illusion of choice. You have no choice………”. As the former American empire continues its collapse, I suggest we all turn to our loved ones and see to their current and future needs. There is no Making America Great Again. I’m sorry; but it’s true.

Christianity, at least the evangelical portion of it, has been co-opted and destroyed by the secular zionist ideology beginning more than a century ago with the introduction of the Schofield study bible. Its moral code is now satanic and thus useless. At this moment Israel is gunning down peaceful and defenseless Palestinian protestors and nobody gives a fuck. Gandhi is rolling in his grave. Only that crazy fuck Erdogan has the balls to call it what it is. Terrorism.

You are correct. Even the Catholic Church has been co-opted…
The “beginning of the end” of traditional Catholicism was sealed with the infiltration of the Catholic Church “Vatican II Ecumenical Council” of the 1960s by Jews and Protestants who were involved in the “modernization” of the Catholic Church.
Much Catholic ritual was discarded, as well as the promotion of the absolution of the Jews for Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and death, despite vitriolic Jewish hatred of Jesus Christ and Christianity which exists to this day. The fact is, the Jews DID get the Romans to crucify Jesus Christ and DID accept full responsibility for the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. As is the case today, the jews got others (Pontius Pilate) do do their “dirty work” for them…
Abandoning the use of Latin in the Mass destroyed its “universality”. Previous to Vatican II, one could attend Mass anywhere in the Roman Catholic world and understand the meaning of the Mass.
Prohibition of the celebration of the Tridentine Mass (except by special ecclesiastical permission) pushed many Catholics away from the new “Modern Mass” and the New Church, in general…It took a brave Archbishop Lefebvre and the Society of St. Pius X to “push back” against Vatican II and re-legitimize the celebration of the pre-Vatican II Tridentine Mass and other Catholic rites.
In pre-Vatican II times, the priest (celebrant of the Mass) was considered to be a part of the congregation, and a representative of the people.
By turning the priest around to face the congregation, the priest was no longer a representative, but an “actor”, diminishing his status and importance.
One area where the Catholic Church could improve itself involves celibacy, which is NOT Church “dogma” or doctrine. Celibacy was put in place during the middle ages in order to keep Church property from being inherited by family and relatives of priests and bishops. Celibacy was based on purely financial considerations–nothing more. It is interesting to note that Episcopal (Anglican) priests who convert to Catholicism can bring their families with them to the Church while Roman Catholic priests are denied marriage.
That being said, there are traditionalist Catholic Churches such as SSPX (Society of St. Pius X)…

The thousands gathered at the Israeli border will be a perfect comparison to the upcoming thousands of migrants soon to be massing on the US border. Both are unarmed and both will be using global sympathy instead of firepower to further their cause.
The common question is: Are borders enforceable, or are they a part of the old vanishing system that is being done away with by the new “no borders” political system? Either each nation will have its identity expressed as nationalism, or each nation must give in to the “greater good” of embracing no borders and a seat at the table under a United Nations government.
To close, can you separate the Palestinian question from the American question of defining ones borders?

BL – do not believe everything you read. There are 1/2 million Chinese in Oz, many students on temp visas. So one in twenty.

Re property, they buy a lot of houses. And would love to huy a lot of farmland. But farmland is now controlled, and they are having a hard time getting permission for it. They keep trying, but are failing.

Re $44 billion, that would be around 70,000 homes at current prices. Not insignificant, but out of 8 or 10 million homes, not a crisis.

Australia is huge, bout the size of mainland US. Even if all the 44 billion (did not verify that number btw) were farmland, it would still be inconsequential. Total value of real estate, just land, is around 5 trillion, so 44 billion does not worry me too much. It has slowed down markedly with new laws and taxes.

My iGadget phone has Easter on the calendar. That being said I get the point. I don’t begrudge Apple as much as I do the federal gov’t. Easter is the high holy holiday of the Christian calendar yet our nation, one that was supposedly founded on Christian principles, does not have a federal holiday for this event??!! I’d say the Fed’s are the ones that are most to blame. To the working man “holidays” are as follows: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some of us get another holy day call “float” which you get to choose. I only joke to a degree. Good Friday should absolutely be added as a federally recognized holiday.

Apple and all other Christian-dismissive sellers of goods love Easter, so I am surprised at the neglect on its calendar. Like Christmas, that other beloved Christian celebration, Easter has been torn from its roots and now bears the irrelevant fruit of rabbits, eggs, carrots, lambs, and tulips. From WalMart to the most expensive trinket shops, mass amounts of both practical and decorative items, put out one minute after Valentine’s Day is put away, celebrate everything but the resurrection of Christ. I bet some of Apple’s sellers even offer Easter Specials.

Many Christians have turned their backs on this capitalistic orgy to focus on Resurrection Sunday. This does not imply a desire for dish towels with embroidered tombs or placemats decorated with bloody Jesus on the cross. The mercantile potential, relative to the Easter bunny, just isn’t there.

I’ve thought for while now, usually in the context of the annual Nativity Display Wars, that Christmas should be banned. Send it back inside the walls of great cathedrals and country churches made of wood, to be owned again by the people who actually value the babe born in Bethlehem. Of course, this can’t happen due to the economic largesse that Christ brought along with his poverty-stricken circumstances.

In both cases, the irony is delicious. Despite the fact that the world hates Jesus and his birth and his resurrection (the death not so much), it is bound to the events of his life because of the income they produce. It is especially noteworthy at Christmas, now a worldwide birthday party characterized by every kind of excess in honor of a poor man derided by those who profit the most.

Easter and Christmas give Christians so much Joy and Hope that I cannot imagine any other Religion having anything close. I apologize if ancient writers added some mythical stories; that’s a shame because it was totally unnecessary; the Holy Shroud in Turin Italy and the Face Cloth in Oviedo Spain validate the Crucifixion reports. Jesus lives (ref Youtube).
