Trump Deploys U.S. Military To Southern Border

Via Zerohedge.com

President Trump said on Tuesday that he will deploy U.S. troops along the southern border to guard against illegal crossings into the country “until we can have a wall.”

“Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military. That’s a big step,” Trump told reporters at the White House while sitting nearby Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Trump’s comments follow several comments he’s made about a “huge caravan” of Central American immigrants traveling through Mexico unobstructed by local authorities until the Mexican government announced late Monday night that the caravan would be broken up.

If it reaches our border, our laws are so weak and so pathetic…it’s like we have no border,” Trump said.

Trump’s comments mark a significant escalation in U.S. border policy, as troops along the frontier with Mexico – not the U.S. border patrol, would be the most aggressive action taken to date by the President who promised voters a giant wall.

The President closed the door on a DACA deal over the past several days – an Obama-era program designed to protect young immigrants brought here illegally to the United States as children. In a Sunday tweet, Trump railed against “ridiculous liberal (Democratic) laws” like “catch and release”. And with more “dangerous caravans coming” to the US border, “Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!”

Trump left the door open to a 2.5 year extension of the DACA program as long as it included $25 billion to fund the border wall, however Democrats wouldn’t bite, instead insisting on a pathway to citizenship for the larger population of 1.8 million “dreamers.”

Meanwhile, Trump floated the possibility of pulling out of NAFTA if Mexico doesn’t take steps to curb the flow of illegal immigrants flowing into the United States.

In response to Trump sending troops to the border, former Mexican president Vicente Fox lashed out over Twitter, tweeting “.@realDonaldTrump to militarize the southern border is to provoke more hate and distance even further our nations. Somebody has to talk some sense into him, he’s elevating his hate towards Mexico causing a greater conflict.”

Fox added:

Yesterday, the former Mexican president ripped Trump for “acting like a spoiled child” over his “DACA is dead” comments.

Fox then told Trump that NAFTA “is a “win-win” scenario, which has made not only Mexico but the U.S. and Canada, the most thriving region in the world.”

Deploying troops to the border is not an unprecedented move. Both Obama and George W. Bush used the National Guard to help with illegal immigration – however the moves were both temporary.

“The United States is not going to militarize the southern border,” said Bush when announcing the deployment in 2006. “Mexico is our neighbor, and our friend.”

Let’s see if our friend can stop a horde of Guatamalan “refugees” making a run for the border.

Okay. They’ve been dispatched to the border. Let’s hope with live rounds. Let’s get this party started.

Does anyone really care what Vincente Fox has to say? He lead a corrupt failed nation state at the expense of his people and enormous wealth building for a few; exactly what the Democrats are trying to accomplish here. America has to protect itself and its culture without inflicting harm on anyone. Not taking in millions of illegals pushed to our borders by corrupt countries is not our humanitarian crisis and cannot be our sole responsibility. This is beginning to look like the great Cuban flotilla during the Carter administration. Castro unloaded his jails with the criminally insane, mentally incompetent and severely ill. Look how well that worked out for South Florida. Some how it is OK for Mexico to shuttle Hondurans through their country without any level of care or support but we are supposed to welcome everyone with open arms. The gig is up. America cannot save the world, we cannot even take care of our own; homeless, illegals, mentally ill, incarcerated, unskilled labor, etc.

I have proposed this many times. We already pay for an army. Why not house, train, and use them on the border? How is it that anyone thinks the US does not have the right to control its borders, by any means necessary? And by any means, I mean any means. Without borders, a nation is not a nation.

Some folks I respect – SSS – have said that such action may violate the posse comitatus laws, but I do not agree.

Interesting with the left wing media stronghold and 24 hour propaganda one would conclude any other form of thought was an outlier. The funny thing is, even in its complete ineptness, the Democratic party is shrinking faster than the Republican. With out infiltrating the US with a permanent underclass they could be out of power completely in 2-3 generations. This insane power grab may keep the Democratic party in power but those engineering it will be out themselves once these folks realize they truly are in charge. Careful what you wish for. Acts of desperation rarely end well.

Llpoh –
I agree. I’ve been suggesting for years that the whole southern border from San Diego to Brownsville should be a military/LEO training ground. Constant presence. Think of the training opportunities; mountain, desert, urban, cyber-surveillance, drone.

Posse Comitatus prevents the Army from being used as the police. It can of course be used to prevent a threatened invasion. That might include declaring Martial Law in the affected area.
Posse Comitatus specifically says the Army may not be used for police work but does leave the Navy open to do police work and the naval infantry, the USMC can therefore be deployed to aid law enforcement.

Llpoh, I agree. Posse Comitatus applies to within the U.S. The border is the edge. Nobody lives “on” the border, but they may live next to it. And that’s part of what the military is for.

I disagree too.

Otherwise Russia or China or anyone else could march troops across our borders without the military being allowed to do anything to intervene, or even fight their domestic actions.

The borders are an entirely different situation than domestic law enforcement within the country involving American citizens.

did you notice what the little leftie josh caplan tweeted out in one of the above tweets–
trump & mattis are plotting to use the military–generally, when you plot you are doing something illegal or underhanded–
how many ignorant people will see that & think trump is doing something that is against the law?

If he needs more troops, maybe he could pull them from duty in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Germany, France, Britain, Belgium, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, the Marshall Islands, Australia, New Zealand, S. Korea, the Sudan, Egypt, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and the rest of the 150+ nations we infest with our troops.

We can do this for no money. Just bring home the troops from Iraq,Afghanistan,Germany and South Korea. They could be put on the border and it wouldn’t cost us a dime. Liberty +1000.

One issue may be is a lot of the border is private property. The military cannot just waltz onto private property. Permission or some form of legal machination would be needed, I suspect.

Just seize 7 miles of Mexico on the border and make a buffer zone. Make it one huge military training base and populate it with U.S. armed forces. Something like this:

Probably not in the border areas, otherwise Mexican drug and smuggling cartels would have already bought them up for unimpeded drug smuggling and human trafficking.

The Posse Comitatus Act SHOULD not apply for the following reasons:

1. Defense of the border is not a domestic law enforcement issue. It is a national security issue. Trump merely has to declare this so. Though I’m sure some wet noodle federal judge will disagree.

2. Likewise, the Act does not cover the Coast Guard which is charged with the national security task of defending our maritime borders – notwithstanding the concurrent enforcement of federal drug importation laws for instance.

3. Trump can bypass the the event (likelihood) of federal court injunction by federal activation of relevant National Guard troops which are also exempt from the Act.

As I understand it the act does not cover the naval forces at all, including the Marines.

If I’m wrong about this someone might be able to point it out, I haven’s actually read the act itself and am relying on third party summaries.

What is the plan? Liberals are truly satanic. Them and all globalists. I think this is a new form of deception….just do the thing you want done while saying something else. Seriously, has it been done by one party against their own nation before? Ever in history? To this degree? To overthrow ones own nation?

I like what Bob McDonald said about an act of desperation on the Open Boarders anarchists with the in your face caravan.

This is Trump’s chance to gain back a lot of the base he lost with the gun process foot in mouth accidental discharge that made the Left Coast Senator giddy as a school girl and the 1.3 trillion pork barrel gasoline on the fire (unless he wants the fire to rage higher AKA X-22 Financial Collapse) he stutter signed.

Posse Comitatus was a post-civil war enactment intended to protect US citizens from occupations by the US military. To use it as an excuse not to enforce border security is an exercise of legal gymnastics that only a Jewish lawyer could seriously propose.

I do not agree. The question is, what is the mission of the troops on the border? Are they moving against Americans, or are they setting up to repel an invasion on the southern border? Are they moving inland, or defending the border from illegal invaders? What is your solution? The troops cannot legally be there, so they should stand down? The solutions that come from denying the military the ability to defend the border would surely give Vincente Fox a hard on.

You really must start thinking in America’s self interest before commenting on strategies that would only hurt the country.

The disconnect is that for most of our lives, the border has been shared with friends of the United States and therefore we have not had to think in terms of defense. But every other country, troops on the border are a natural course of action. When China massed their troops in the event of a NK conflict; where did they put their troops? When Russia was threatened with conflict against Yugoslavia, where did they set up their troops? And so it is now with America. Get over it and support the defending of our nation against this possible invasion.

That is probably an old picture. The Sergeant is holding an M16A2. Those have long been replaced by the M4 series. The Marines have been using some M16’s with the full length 20″ barrels like this guy has but in the A3 or A4 configuration with the carry handle upper receiver replaced with a flat railed receiver to accept optical sights.

Federal Posse Comitatus Act per Infogalactic (Fuck Wikipedia!):
The Act only specifically applies to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force. While the Act does not explicitly mention the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, due to them being naval services, the Department of the Navy has prescribed regulations that are generally construed to give the Act force with respect to those services as well. The Act does not apply to the Army and Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor. The United States Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act either, primarily because although the Coast Guard is an armed service, it also has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission.
