Then I read of someone writing a piece about his Close Encounters of the Trump Delusion. Gotta say it sure is nice to know others suffer fools as I do. Coincidence, probably not but I will take some credit anyways…..
It is always amazing to witness the embedded hate towards Trump by many that, to me, appears terminal. I have done my best to see past that man, while being the first in line to admit that I do love Derangement as it bubbles away. Trump does make great grist for the campfire trysts. Whether it is in real life or in the ether of the internet.
But for some reason I feel obligated to defend the guy. Have come to conclusion that I bore easily with folks looking at the ground and nodding their heads. It is not, as some have accused, because of some blind faith in him. It is instead my interest in starting a dialectic rather than just joining in and signing the chorus. That has never been something that interested me. Besides there is the only way to find the truth. For it is in the back and forth, and in the balance for the facts, that one can hopefully find the better answer. It is important to fight the good fight against the bias and fear.
Sometimes the best thing to do is pull the pin and throw the grenade.
I could tell many stories of my times in the wire. A book could be written but it is best left to an Epistle. We live in an outrage culture. A place where folks line up each day to get just a few drips of news. But never too much. Most choosing a safe space, whether it be Facebook, or CNN, where the message is the medium and it is all the same. Thirst whetted, the unwashed launch themselves into their day, experts on only one thing.
Outrage…
Trump is a Neutron Bomb for all of that. His power is that everyone now waits for him. His opponents, too many to count, can’t help themselves. Trump has become the maestro that strikes the narrative and the Progressive Left can’t stand it. The arc of an outbreak of cognitive dissonance, the constant threat of striking everything around.
Amazing to watch when the bolt hits and everyone is sent for cover.
Most mornings when I start my day by doing my best to troll around. Looking for news. On the lookout and trying to catch the talking points being cast around. It doesn’t take long to figure out what they are going to be. It doesn’t matter which station you choose as they are all the same.
Often by 10 am that well kept plan is one giant dumpster fire.
Because in the meantime Trump does, says and or tweets something. Provokes the inevitable outrage. And from there, well the whole thing gets nuked from orbit and sent to the rings of Saturn. Everyone filled with talk of Trump and nothing else.
It is, as Scott Adams would say, a masterpiece of persuasion.
Three years ago I was at the family cottage on the shores of the Northumberland Strait. There, the whole family had decided to gather to spend a Sunday afternoon while catching up on everyone’s life. Over Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, the conversation predictably strayed to Trump. Outrage was all about, with what Trump said on Rosie O’Donnell and Megan Kelly. Most took their turn and had a go.
Not me.
The focus that day three years ago, I felt, should have been on Hillary’s home brew server. As always is the case, it was a waste of time. Then without fail came the dissonance. For most present, it didn’t matter how easy it would be for America’s enemies to access State Secrets. Hacking that server was of little or no importance.
Women were offended and in need of protection.
In their defense it still isn’t even now. They would be sure to argue there is reason to care when, even now, Robert Mueller and Jeff Sessions are both doing their level best to look the other way. Back at that cottage, I told all present that someday those actions would come back to haunt Hillary. Fast forward to the present and I come across this from of all places the New York Times.
A fella has to wonder if there is a connection between that server and those spies. Seems that sometimes the Pussy does grab back. It should matter that it doesn’t haunt Hillary. One can only hope that some day, someone, will
ruin that woman’s day.

And I am no shrinking violet so I wait, listen for extended periods and then demonstrate to all how ill informed they are.
When all else fails, I simply ask, ” for all of your hate, derangement and obsession, what in your life has changed even the tiniest bit because of Trump sitting in the white house?”
The vacuous blank stares are matched only by the depth of thought going on behind their eyes…

I’ve learned a lot about cognitive dissonance these past few years. Most of my family/friends in the region (100 mile radius… did not move ‘home’ but close enough to visit) are clueless about the world out there other than what they see on the teevee. They assumed our move here was a family closeness thing.
So, we’ve had a couple of years to scrape off the hangers-onners who thought I’d saved hard to retire early so they could Party on my Big Porch.
Well, I am empowered by indignation, RiNS and I am looking forward to someday taking all your notes and sipping a cold one while we decide what context and tone your narrator should take.
But, we are going to have to talk about your misuse of Capital letters.
An old colleague (MSgt Lamar Jones) told a story about growing up in Philly in the hood. He was a clever lad and suggested their “club” be more than a neighborhood gang. He explained to the group that instead of guns and knives, perhaps they would read books and improve themselves. To get the members enthused (Lamar completely understood buy-in) he asked them to come up with a unique club name.
To the Manner Born or To the Manor Born?
He asked them how they wanted that written on the poster….
One of the enthusiastic new Manor Born members said “In great big letters, Lamar! Use come of them capitals!”

It’s been a case study in physiology for me. It should be apparent by now that they can have no other point of view be broadcast to them, period. Unlike myself, I can listen to the drivel on NPR all day long.

The reason why the talking points become a dumpster fire by 10am is because MSM is rapidly losing it’s ability to control the narrative. Our resident spooks can probably confirm that SW&SD are a collection of eight CIA computers that kick out the Operation Mockingbird talking points at 4am every morning to all of the MSM outlets via CIA front company Gannet Media. I don’t love half the foks I am supposed to. My extended family has a bunch of, well, idiots, that I am more than happy to never encounter again. Life is just too damn short, and I have more than enough stress already, and last thing I need is to add to it by being around folks that are blights on the ass of humanity.

Let’s say there are “loved” ones and you don’t like them. I bet you that they probably don’t like you. Give them enough time and they WILL fuck you over, leaving you no doubt that they really hated you all along. All I can say is get the hell away from people you don’t like and stay away from them or you WILL get burned.

I’m probably guilty of reflecting my family experiences upon you. I don’t try to change them either and don’t say much but holidays around here are just a bit too stressful and “exciting”. If you all get along that’s wonderful and it would sure be nice if that was my experience. I suppose one positive is that least we don’t get drunk and into rip roaring holiday fights!

Sorry Man I wasn’t trying to take the piss outta ya! when I wrote this it was meant to be a bit of fluff. Being Friday and all. To be completely honest our families have quite a bit in common. I have a brother who has been AWOL for 15 years. In my defense, he doesn’t really apply in the context of what I wrote. Reason being is because I have done as you suggest.

Heh, heh, you haven’t lived the good life until you’ve gone to an Eastern Kentucky family reunion where there’s a hundred people there with decades of unsettled complaints. I would always sit back in a corner and watch the drama unfold. The last time we had one my mom’s brother, my favorite uncle, was in the middle of a nasty divorce from his wife of 52 years. Supposedly he had a black girlfriend over in Ohio and his ex-wife and kids hated his guts. That’s when my 86 year old Granny, the matriarch and oldest of anyone there, came right out told her that her boy wouldn’t be screwing black women in Ohio if he was getting what the Lord said he should be getting at the house. Exact words. In front of everybody. That’s when everything went into DEFCON 3 and the only reason there wasn’t a great big, call the paddy wagon fight was because no one knew if the story was true. I was about 26 years old at the time and was the only one who knew it was true. That secret was kept for over 22 years until all of the folks involved had died off. I always keep secrets for it’s not my job to judge people.
