Stucky QOTD: Art or Fart?

A couple days ago hundreds of Arab Christians went bezerk in (((Haifa))) because of the display (below) at a museum.  (Story here.)

The "McJesus" sculpture by Finnish artist Jani Leinonen on display at the Haifa Museum of Art. (Haifa Museum of Art)

Q1:  Is this offensive to you?
— Q1A:  If “yes”, why??  (Doesn’t your God have a sense of humor??)
Q2:  Isn’t this picture below far, far MORE offensive?

Image result for offensive jesus pictures

================================================== =

Me?

Q1: Not offended whatsoever.  I suppose it all depends how you look at it;

—1) Ronald McDonald loved us so much that he ate a McShits Burger and died …. so that YOU don’t have to!!

—2) God DOES have a sense of humor!  It’s like this.  Suppose you have an ant farm box in your living room.  One day, the ants — who think you are God — take their little pebbles and make a statue of you. However, they are horrible artists and the statue make you look like a penis (literally).  Would you get mad at them?  Of course, not!!  They’re just dumb ants!!  In fact, you’d go and call all your friends and neighbors to look at what your ants did, and all would shout out “Hosanna!” for their little accomplishments. I firmly believe that’s what Jesus did this past Monday; “Hey, Dad (Jehobah)! Gabriel! Abraham! Moses! Ya just gotta check out Ronnie McDonald on the cross. Ain’t that cute!!

Q2: That picture is a thousand more times more offensive.  Especially since so many atrocities are committed in war … including those by American soldiers.  You see, that kid that was just shot … well, Jesus died for THAT kid also!!! To think that God blesses our wars and/or our soldiers is pure unadulterated bullshit, and stinketh to high heaven.

All possess lethal ballistic properties.

All equal in the eyes of God.

Definitely more equal then the people who employ them.

Making fun of people’s beliefs, I would bet, have caused more wars than any other reason. Other than resources maybe. I also believe it leads to closed minds and less freedom since it puts one faith over another.

However, I wouldn’t drop lead over it or make fun of Odin in retaliation.

My own opinion is Christians should not care if they’re made fun of. Show God through your actions. Shine your light. Words are nothing more than words. Christians have been persecuted in the past for much worse than words, meaning for their faith alone. Let words roll off your back, pray, and continue in your everyday Christian living.

Words are important, in fact columns such as this only allow God’s Word to be seen by people that might not otherwise see or hear it. It does not return void.

John 15:18-19 (KJV) Jesus speaking.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

First one I don’t find offensive. I like that Christians aren’t brainwashed enough to go bonkers over it, even if they object.

Second one is offensive objectively because kids or anyone else dying in war is offensive. Jesus joking about it isn’t funny IMO.

On second thought, Jeebus was only one of thousands crucified on a cross. I can agree that MCD has been crucified millions of times on the interwebs for serving McShit on a Shingle, unfit for humans. Perhaps it is art by some poor slob who ate at a McD and felt inspired to give his opinion of the just punishment for what they serve.
If others want to take it that it means Jeebus was a clown, that’s their problem.

you’ll be hard pressed to find a strong society that is not religious, why do you think islam is ascendant & we are declining?
if you read between the lines, some of our founding fathers weren’t strong believers but they kept their mouths closed & went thru the motions of religiosity–
for those of you who are not religious but care greatly about western civ,i’d say support christianity–

Q1) I laughed. In fact, it didn’t even occur to me to be offended (maybe I’m dumb). My first thought was that it’s better than that “piss Christ” Mapplethorpe photo from 20 years (or more) ago.

Q2) Doesn’t offend me at all. That’s more a commentary on jingoistic support for evil wars than a commentary on the Lord.

What offends me most is when SJW pseudo-Christians try to claim that the essence of Christianity is the latest liberal cause: global warming, encouraging pre-teens to “transition” to the other sex, “reproductive rights”, the supposed right of people to sneak into whatever country they want to and start making demands.

What if your father was a war hero who saved hundreds of lives without firing a shot while even demonstrating mercy and respect to his enemies? What if after the war your father was celebrated as a hero by the military leaders and civilians of all the nations that were involved in the conflict? What if your father came home and was given the medal of honor that he was too humble to accept so he gave it to the mayor of your city so it could be celebrated on behalf of your entire town including you and your sons and daughters as something to be proud of? What if the circus came to your town full of dirtbags and degenerates and carnival workers who spit and shit on your father’s medal of honor in the town square?

Reading the article offered a bit more about it. Supposed ‘artist’ is from Finland.
IMO, that’s not art. It’s a shock value display attempt to either mock something, or elicit a reaction of one type or more.
Looking at it, I’m guessing the Finn who presented it, wants viewers to debate what it means. It’s significance. It’s message.
It’s garbage, so I don’t care to waste time thinking about it.
The creator has no artistic talent, just like most modern artists.
Good sculptors of marble statues are artists. Musical composition creators like Mozart are genius artists.

Q1. No, no offense taken, and I’m a practicing Christian. Deciding to be offended at something is really a fools game. I’d rather ignore it. I won’t pay…money to fund it, see it, buy it, and won’t pay attention to it. The fact that ((some people)) chose to display it, just helps reinforce anti semitism.
Like the article’s objector stated, “A picture of Hitler holding a Torah wouldn’t be tolerated”, and an uproar would ensue, if displayed anywhere in Haifa.
So, the hypocrisy is what’s infuriating, not some shitty display. I doubt Jesus is really pissed off at that Ronald crucifixion.

Q2. If choosing to take offense, yes, that picture is more offensive, because IMO it falsely sends more than 1 bad message.
About the U.S., war, who influences it, troops, killing, children casualties, and the Lord’s supposed approval.

In all conflicts, both parties believe they’re justified in killing.
…some with religious dogma badges or, false honor.

The only ones worthy of having our Creator on their ‘side’, or protecting them are…
The Peacemakers.

But, the evil intent is too widespread. Legion. Many.

The larger question is, how can a peaceful, faithful person eliminate the evil attacking on all sides, without killing? He can’t, and will try to flee, or submit to it. Or, He will kill as a last resort, to ensure survival, to help the cause in evils elimination, and, then seek forgiveness for having taken life, even if in self defense.

If / how / when he will be judged, is a topic for another day.

One of my earliest memories as a small boy was a visit to a Catholic relatives house and being put in a room for a nap. On the wall was a crucifix facing the bed. It terrified me and I started carrying on until my mother came in and took it down when I told her the ‘problem’.

What a grisly and sadistic symbol for Christianity. Yes, the Romans did crucify people but isn’t enough to tell people Jesus died on the cross? Why rub people’s noses in a 2000 year old barbaric execution.

Civilization cannot withstand its fools. Those who cannot understand why both these images are destructive –destructive at a deep, fundamental level–are unable to be anything other than part of the disease that is killing us.

Asking if the viewer finds this ‘offensive’ is a waste of time. One is ‘offended’ by violations of societal expectations concerning our assumptions governing polite interaction. You can easily be offended by someone pointing out your weight problem by calling you Wide Load in a business meeting. To use the word ‘offended’ in this context betrays a misunderstanding of the level of destruction this tiresome, ego-driven ‘edginess ‘ rains down upon our heads.

Man has a spiritual nature that requires feeding. When every impulse towards the Divine is trampled and profaned for cheap laughs Man begins to sicken and die, just as he would if deprived of all physical sustenance. This kind of blasphemy is a sign of advanced decay, a sign that one is surrounded by barbarians puzzled and made violently impatient by the vestiges of Truth and Beauty they stumble over in their mad dash to sack the city of its worthless trinkets and sparkly baubles.

This is not about Christianity per se. Whether or not Christianity is ultimately true is irrelevant in this context. ALL MEN need an outlet for the Divine urge. In functioning societies, where blasphemy of this kind is met with severe punishment, people still enjoy the benefits of social cohesion and shared purpose that cannot exist in this diseased carnival we live in today. This is why the Muslim world is winning at the moment–they are united by a shared vision of the Divine. It unites them in a way the Radical Humanists of the West cannot understand or emulate.

Instead, atomized buffoons, desperate for the adulation they see heaped on the morons capering on their TV sets, compete with one another to see who can render Life the cheapest and most meaningless. Some of them then go on to opine about the host of pathologies this attitude must and will engender.

Blasphemy, like gluttony and homosexuality, is one of those sins that demonstrably destroy the lives of those who participate in it. It’s a real shame that (((those))) who use it to destroy our civilization pretend that it’s dissemination must be protected as ‘free speech’, making dictatorship inevitable for anyone who doesn’t choose to live in a sewer with people who have traded their humanity for the purposes of gaining the good opinion of parasites who hate them.

No. Because it is a waste of time. I thought I said?

Because the question betrays your inability to understand beneath the very surface level of the topic.

As an example: Your tell your shrink you caught your wife in bed with another man, and your shrink says,” What color were his boxer shorts? ”

He’s missed the point. Utterly. And now he’s wasting your time.

See?

It is not the art or the artist. It is the Christian and how the Christians handles slights. Did Paul not say turn the other cheek? In this case, that’s what you do. They are trying to get a rise out of you. Why take the bait? Why should a peace-loving person and follower of Christ be concerned? Jesus was the Prince of Peace. Try to be like him.

Blasphemy is a Heavenly matter. It is talked about in scripture. Let God sort the wheat from the chafe according to his laws on Judgment Day. There will be evil people until the end of time. You’re job is to show your Christian nature to all and instruct in the ways of the Lord to all that will listen. God determines who will hear.

Homosexuality, gluttony and other sins have been around since Adam and Eve. Didn’t God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? God will deal with things. He may use you to do it, he may use an unbeliever, he may use an army, but he will handle it. Pray and put your faith in him. You’re job as a Christian is to raise a Godly family and project your Christian influence onto as many as possible in this evil-ridden world.

You are right that man has a spiritual nature. We were put on Earth to worship God. That is are only calling. Do so. And don’t worry about the world because, as the Bible said, we are just sojourners here, waiting to return home to Heaven. That’s what you’re focus should be. If you can make a difference on Earth on behalf of the Lord, that is living as a Christian. If you die as a Christian, God will welcome you in Heaven.

This is not about Christianity. I thought surely I had mentioned this?

Whether you profess to believe in a specific creed or sect, or whether you are agnostic or atheist, you should be able to recognize the great harm that this kind of blasphemy does to your civilization. Mature, adult minds are able to refrain from behavior that is destructive to themselves or others. This is known as Self Control, and it used to be extolled as a virtue to be emulated.

It is time for serious-minded people to heap scorn and social ostracism on people either too childish or too stupid to govern themselves or to recognize the pathology they are actively spreading.

Until Fools are made to feel SOME sort of pain for their shortsighted ignorance nothing will motivate them to stop. Would you whip a 5 year old waving a loaded gun at a picnic? If he can’t be trusted to go his way unsupervised then common sense dictates he feel Pain until he learns better. No?

This tiresome, “But I’m just posing the QUESTION!? How can we ever be sure what’s actually Blasphemous?” schtick is standard Operating Procedure for the (((Chosenites.))) Somebody has learned to ape their technique exceedingly well.

Jesus may well sort this out eventually. I grant you that. But in the meantime I am forced to live HERE, and so take some interest in calling out the rot that surrounds me.

Why are you reading this web site at all if Jesus will fix it all and you are not called upon to participate in any way?

“Don’t take refuge in the false authority of consensus.”

It would take weeks, if not a year, I think, for the average person to be able to analyze this bit, not that I think it’s entirely accurate.. only that the challenges are valid.

“Who is the one under threat?”

Yes it’s offensive. Offensively trite. Ronald McDonald… on a cross! Wow, that’s so transgressive. As if ironically sticking “Mc” on the front of anything you want to disparage wasn’t about 50 years old.

Best comment imo…

“Civilization cannot withstand its fools.

It’s a real shame that (((those))) who use it to destroy our civilization pretend that it’s dissemination must be protected as ‘free speech’, making dictatorship inevitable for anyone who doesn’t choose to live in a sewer with people who have traded their humanity for the purposes of gaining the good opinion of parasites who hate them.”

That folks was a wide load word salad of bullshit. Then Donkey lays this gem…

Well folks ol’ Donkey sure got his moniker right.
Cuz only an ass can rationalize that the solution to current malaise is a theological North Korea.

Then he ends with what might just be the greatest of false equivalence.
Equating Blasphemy to gluttony and homosexuality.

It needs pointing out that this type of attitude is the fit, the form and the function of religion.
Is the reason why people can justify killing each other. Using unwavering dogma as a crutch and all in not so blind effort to Radically Dehumanize opponents. Making it far easier to shoot someone else’s kids in a street or a field. Over the Hills and Far Away.

Q1: I’m not offended. God said not to make graven images. In early Christianity, an image of a person was prohibited. They used fish, palms, etc for decoration. The images of Christ on the cross, his birth place in Bethlehem, his death place in Jerusalem have become areas themselves that are worshiped rather than the Lord. Don’t fall into that trap.

Q1A: I don’t know if God has a sense of humor of not, but even if he doesn’t, he definitely would understand ours.

Q2: I find this picture highly offensive. Christianity is not attached to any government or wars, for that matter. Christianity grew outside of, and in spite of, the Roman government and the Jewish priests. “The God of War” by Joseph Judson Taylor, is a great book to read if anyone cares to inquire.
