Colorado Moves To Bypass Electoral College To Stop Trump: Will Assign Electoral Votes To Popular Vote Winner

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com,

Certain political elements within the United States simply can’t deal with the fact that our Founders created a voting system that ensured limitations on mob rule stemming from a handful of cities throughout the country. To protect the rights of all Americans, including those living in smaller rural counties, they came up with the electoral college, a method by which all Americans from varying backgrounds and ideologies can be represented during a Presidential election.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton officially won the Popular Vote, garnering more total votes than Donald Trump, but because of an Electoral College victory, Trump ultimately became President.

Every time a Republican happens to win a Presidency, Democrats argue that the Electoral College is an archaic election method not representative of a democratic government.

Up until now there was nothing they can do about it, but Colorado has come up with a plan that, at the very least, will likely wind up in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

In the next election, Colorado aims to assign all electoral votes to the winner of the national Popular Vote, rather than then to the individual who brings in the most votes in their State, essentially invalidating the will of their own State citizens. Somehow, this makes sense to Colorado governor Jared Polis:

“I’ve long supported electing the president by who gets the most votes,” Polis told The Hill. “It’s a way to move towards direct election of the president.”

Colorado will become the 12th state to join the national popular vote interstate compact. Those 12 states and the District of Columbia, which has also passed a popular-vote bill, account for 181 electoral votes, just under 90 shy of the 270 votes a presidential candidate needs to win the White House.

The compact will not go into effect until the coalition includes states that add up to 270 electoral votes or more. Once it does go into effect, states that are part of the coalition would award their electoral votes en masse to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.

Source: The Hill

Eleven more states are currently working through similar legislation. If successful, some 261 electoral college votes would end up being decided by the national popular vote rather than the traditional electoral voting system used in previous elections.

While the U.S. Constitution establishes the Electoral College as the method by which a President is elected, it does not specify how each state chooses to assign its Electoral votes.

This will likely lead to Constitutional challenges from both sides.

Our view: This is how a Republic dies, should the Supreme Court fail to uphold current laws surrounding how votes are assigned and calculated.

The electoral map above shows exactly why Democrats, once again, have to move the goal posts to win.

We are in a civil war and it will settle this and many other questions. In war there is no rule of law and no constitution. The victor makes the rules.

They should be treated like blasphemous children. One look at the 2016 National Election heatmap tells you all you need to know.
Any elected official who challenges the point should be subject to recall but when you’re voted in by God-haters, murderers of children, and enablers of non-citizens who care nothing for the law this behavior is “normal”.
If the issue isn’t going to be settled by SCOTUS properly there will be a reckoning at some point.

Elected reps and public employees take an OATH to defend and protect “the Constitution.” IMHO, ANYTIME they act (and for elected reps this should include publically speaking and espousing) to circumvent, interpret, change, ignore it, etc. they could (and should) be interpreted to be in violation of their Oath and should be immediately removed from office, etc.

Not possible. They would need to have an amendment to the Constitution passed by 2/3 of the states. It is actually the electoral college that confirms the election of the President and they are certainly going to count each states electoral votes to determine the final outcome. What I suspect is happening is that the flood of illegal aliens into our country is being used to turn red states blue.

A main reason the states agreed to form a union (terrible mistake) was to guarantee the rights of states with small populations. So if these assholes want to scrub the union and go back to individual states, I’m all in.

As if voting somehow mattered anyway. Proof is we voted for Trump and got Hillary instead. The more things change the more they stay the same. Besides in a system where there’s the donor class VS. the voter class, votes don’t change public policy very much at all, the donors do.

The could save a lot of money. Those states don’t even need to have an election because the votes of their citizens won’t matter. The states in the compact will just decide that the winner of NY, CA, TX, and FL determines the winner.

This has to have a constitutional amendment. 2/3 rds proposal by the House and 3/4 ratification by the Senate. It is very doubtful this will happen. The Electoral College is embodied in the Constitution in Article 2, Section 1, and in the 12th Amendment.

Constitution? How quaint, Ned. They go around the constitution all the time. Sometimes it makes it to the S.C. and sometimes it doesn’t. Even if it does, the SC interprets the constitution the same way Christians interpret the Bible.

This just another step towards CW2. Look at the map above. That sea of red might be blood some day soon. Some would surely be ours but maybe more would be theirs.

It’s not certain that the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Popular_Vote_Interstate_Compact will be deemed unconstitutional. Most states are winner-take-all when it comes to their electoral votes. Nebraska and Maine assign their EV’s by congressional districts, but they at least adhere to the idea that voters in their districts wouldn’t see their electoral vote awarded to a person who had clearly lost the vote in that district. States decide how their electors are to vote, but it would defy common sense to require your state’s electors to vote for someone who demonstrably lost the vote within your state. There are legal scholars who argue that states have the right – through their elected legislators – to enact this “compact”. So far, only lib states – having 172 EV’s – have enacted it.

It’s a simplistic idea – “whoever gets the most votes should win” that resonates with the kind of people who think that we can end poverty by giving rich people’s money to poor people.

Who would declare the winner of the popular vote – CNN? The New York Times? The Bezos Post? In a close election, they’d be finding ballots on Indian reservations until the democrat won. If you thought the 2000 Florida recount was fun, you’d love a nationwide recount. If you thought the 2008 MN Senate recount (that took a clear Coleman win and handed it to Franken) was corrupt, wait until a nationwide recount with democrat lawyers (they are the party of lawyers, after all) get the Philadelphia voter turn-out up to about 187%.

The stupidity of people clamoring for a popular vote knows no bounds. CO has a state population of about 5.6M people and 9 electoral votes. That’s one EC vote per 622,222 residents. California has 39.54M people and 55 EC votes for a ratio of one per 718,909 residents. Simply put, Colorado has more power at the ballot box than other states and they want to give that up because they aren’t happy Trump was elected.

To put in a different analogy. Colorado as an entire state can be out voted by the population of metro Atlanta. Imagine a scenario where the Broncos beat the Falcons in a Super Bowl and people down in Hot-lanta are pretty pissed off. They take that to the ballot box and the population of one major city can overrule an entire state. Don’t discount this because people decide votes on even more petty shit. Now why on earth would the good people of Colorado give up their power voluntarily to join a mob rule mentality when they can get out mobbed quite easily????

I don’t think anyone has suggested that Trump (or anyone else in politics) is honest, that would be a pretty far stretch at best. Any Rep or Dem has already sold out the people for the power of the state. If we are going to vote at all we are merely choosing the language we are being lied to with.

If they don’t outright kill the future children they will destroy them with tranny protocol( which we are 1 of 2 states with no parental notification, yeah that means they can convert at school, even drugs, without telling you), and the ones that escape the tranny conditioning will suffer non-stop commie indoctrination, all the while being replaced with the “flood the zone” immigration policy.

The law only takes action once enough states totalling 270 electoral votes also pass. Right now the total is like 180.
