Howard Stern recollects how he helped Donald Trump become president

Via Marketwatch

‘There’s a segment of my audience that really gets turned on to people they thought they hated because we tap into their humanity… Donald is communicating. He’s talking like a dude. That’s very powerful — take it from someone who knows.’

—Howard Stern

That’s Howard Stern talking about his role in stoking the fire that ultimately delivered Donald Trump to the White House.

Stern, who pockets a reported $90 million a year as a radio icon, was a big supporter of Hillary Clinton both in 2008 and 2016, but he told the Hollywood Reporter in a sweeping interview published on Wednesday that he knew she would have a tough time beating Trump at the ballot box. Why? Because his vast fan base wasn’t connecting with her.

Perhaps the results would have been different, Stern suggests, if Clinton hadn’t rebuffed his requests for an interview. In other words, opening up on the show, like other unlikely guest have before, might have made her more relatable.

“[My fans] were like, ‘Fuck Lady Gaga, why are you having her on?’” Stern said as an example of what an appearance on his show can do. “Then it’s over, and they go, ‘Shit man, I’m going to go see her in concert.’”

Trump, of course, revealed plenty over the course of some 40-plus conversations with Stern, including a 1995 exchange in which they joked about a presidential run. Other topics the two discussed include Trump’s sex life with wife Melania as well as Ivanka’s “very voluptuous” figure.

Stern says his interviewing technique in those earlier years “was like bashing someone in the face with a sledgehammer… I had done everything I could to blow the audience’s mind. Every aspect of sexuality was explored.”

That was certainly the case with his Trump chats. Here are just some of the highlights of their conversations over the years:

Stern understands how unfiltered talk can resonate, not only with his audience but also with voters. He got a taste of what it might take to succeed politically when he ran for governor of New York in 1994. His platform: “We’re going to kill all the criminals, take their crispy remains and stick them in the potholes.” Stern’s popularity in the polls soared, but he quit the race before it was too late.

He tried to convince Trump to do the same, he told the Hollywood Reporter.

Stern, who continued to talk to Trump on the campaign trail and visit him at Mar-a-Lago, assumed he would drop out eventually. Of course, he didn’t. And, aside from a quick congratulations, the two haven’t spoken since Stern declined his invitation to speak at the Republican National Convention.

“It was a difficult thing because there’s a part of me that really likes Donald, but I just don’t agree politically,” Stern said, adding this zinger: “A more self-serving person would have gone all in on Donald because I’d probably be the FCC commissioner or a Supreme Court justice by now.”

Stern is a fucking genius. He supported Hillary, Hillary lost so now he supports Hillary 2.0, aka Donald Trump.

Only in AmeriKa can you vote for Trump and get Hillary. The border is wide open. Exactly what Hildabeast was going to do.

Stern “…was a big supporter of Hillary Clinton both in 2008 and 2016” and says this about Trump “…but I just don’t agree politically,”. As in “America first”(?). Let’s see, hmmm, you don’t pull for your team but then stump for the other team. Then you claim victory for them? Wow! Stupidity knows no bounds. Fkn glad he is not on my side.

So maybe if Hillary Clinton wasn’t Hillary Clinton, and didn’t behave as Hillary Clinton does, if she were a completely different person, more people would have voted for her?
