The days of common courtesy are over, and as was mentioned in quote by Heinlein yesterday, it signifies a collapse of society.

It was better when you could beat the ass of fucksticks like this without the lawdogs making you the bad guy. People behaved more civil in those days overall.

I know that you never went completely away but it is great to see you commenting on a regular basis again. Common sense spiked with intelligence is a good drink.

Thanks cliff. I have never left, just kinda got in dark mood. Ebbs and flows, as you know.

Embrace the doom! Instead of wallowing in it, I am trying to revel in it.

The ‘common courtesy’ would be expected of the homeowner. a willingness to help someone in difficulty. Without energy at midnight.
That no charges were filed suggests that he, the homeowner, has it.

Too bad the homeowner did not have something with about 440 volts to hook up to the extension cord. That might have made some nice fireworks with the electronics and battery in the car.

The picture shows the car parked on the public rite-of-way. AKA, the street.
Can you trust anything about this story?

All the city streets I’ve ever seen did not have grass growing on them – curious about the ones you’re used to….

it’s between the street & the sidewalk–

I was referring to the “AKA, the street” line. I think that might be a misnomer.
Also, how about creating a trip hazard on the sidewalk?

In Memphis, Tennessee you can be sited for not mowing the grass between the sidewalk and the street. So if some fuck comes driving onto my lawn aka strip between the sidewalk and the street he is guilty of criminal trespass. Again, if said fuck walks in my yard with intent to steal my electricity he is guilty of conspiring to commit a misdemeanor and criminal trespass. In Tennessee this is a Class E Felony. At NO time would I let this leftist asshole off the hook! He’d be in jail for the mandatory 3 years! And I would demand it!

@Karl, different municipalities have different laws about who “owns” that little strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street. It could belong to the property owner.

It SURE AS HELL IS NOT LEGAL to park your car on it however. And regardless of who says who “owns” it, the home owner is responsible for mowing the grass and keeping it looking nice – or face fines, etc.

Not likely in a modern suburb. Most suburbs us a 60 to 66 ft. rite of way. To include the pavement ,parkway , and sidewalks. The sidewalks are usually poured 6 inches from the property line.
I started this discussion line to point out the falsehood of the title.
And the suggestion that the car owner was trying to ‘steal electricity ‘ is, i will suggest ,false. I’ll b bet that he made a generous offer to pay for the power.
I might of done the same thing, leaving a note asking indulgence and offering to settle up in the morning. . The transfer of power with electricity has a ‘time ‘ factor. Leaving it plugged in over night makes sense. A homeowner that would take offence would be the lessor person. Not nice or charitable .

Clearly White power — electricity flowing to the privileged. Bet you won’t see that in West Baltimore.

Throw the breaker in the house for that circuit. Then confiscate the cord. That will leave him in a bind.

Throw the breaker, run it over w/ the lawn mower. Oops, didn’t know it was there.

I would have had the car towed away. The home owner is a lot nicer than I am.

unless it costs a lot of $ to charge,i wouldn’t care much–it happened at midnight so the kid probably didn’t want to wake the guy–
interesting though that the kid apparently carries his own extension cord–

Great, why don’t you send me a couple/three bucks a day seeing as you don’t care. I’m not proud.

So, as long as it is small amounts being stolen, it is ok by you?

Tampa, you are smarter than that. There are things that are indeed black and white in the world. That kind of theft is one such.

If he plugs in outside at home, he has an extension cord. I would carry a 50 ft cord if I owned an electric car.
If someone ran out of gas in front of your house, would you as a kind , helpful person go and get your lawn mower gas can and give him a half gallon to get to a filling station?
Would you ask for money, or, just ask that the favor gets passed on?

That could turn into a real expensive battery charge.

His reply knocked me for a loop “ Fuck You” he said my reply shocked him did not say a word got a pair of heavy wire cutters and cut about 50 feet of his 100 foot cord into about 20 pieces and then I said oh by the way FUCK YOU ASSHOLE
My original intent was to let it continue plugged in just wanted some polite acknowledgement !
