AOC’s most hilarious lie: Millennials ‘most informed,’ historically-literate generation

Via Washington Examiner

For conservative commentators, upstart socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the gift that keeps on giving. The New York Democrat’s social media feed offers up a constant stream of clueless left-wing commentary that’s ripe for debunking.

The latest instance is a recent Instagram live video, in which she claims that “young people are more informed and dynamic than their predecessors.” The social media starlet goes on to say “this new generation is very profound … They actually take time to read and understand our history.”

This, frankly, is absurd to the point of hilarity. Nothing could be further from the truth: The millennial generation and Generation Z behind them, of which I am part, is uniquely disengaged from history and woefully uninformed. Which she went on to prove, naturally. In praising the new generation as the first “wiling to go to the streets” and protest, she appears to have forgotten about the 1960s. Oops!

But she disproves her own point in more ways than one. Young people increasingly identify as socialist, which on its own shows that they are woefully ignorant of history. That ideology of failure and oppression has a very dark past of which few are aware. And only 16% of millennials are even able to define socialism in the first place.

As far as broader historical literacy goes, two of three millennials, the same generation that Ocasio-Cortez deems “informed and dynamic,” do not even know what Auschwitz is. Ignorance of the Nazi death camp is bad enough, but 1 in 5 millennials aren’t even aware of the Holocaust at all.

This isn’t exactly a surprise, when you look at young peoples’ habits. According to Business Insider, “Millennials spend far less time consuming news overall than older adults, and the time they do spend is concentrated on digital consumption. Millennials ages 21-37 consume only about 30% of the amount of news as adults age 38 and older.”

Plus, many young people don’t read books. At all.

Per Forbes, “38% of students at public and private four-year colleges reported that ‘Books have never gotten me very excited.’ And 45% said ‘I don’t enjoy reading serious books and articles, and I only do it when I have to.’”

These statistics come as little surprise. Take it from someone on the border of both Generation Z and the millennial generation: Today’s young people are not the “most-informed” generation, or anywhere close. If they were, Ocasio-Cortez wouldn’t have a mass social media following in the first place.

Millennials (and people younger than them) are very informed – but all by the same sources with the same point of view (AOC’s point of view) and they know a great many things that are not true. So in the last week or so, we’ve been told that the Amazon produces 20% of the world’s oxygen. We’ve also been treated to photos of “the Amazon” that aren’t the Amazon or are twenty years old. So the news of Amazon fires is both true and fake at the same time. Interestingly, there was an article on 8/27/19 in the Atlantic (very liberal) about how the Amazon doesn’t produce 20% of the planet’s oxygen (more like 6%) and how the 2019 Amazon fires are wholly immaterial to Earth’s O2 supply – although they emit a lot of CO2 – in case you want to worry about that.

It’s only been there since the end of the Ice Age. What did they do for oxygen 12,000 years ago? LOL! Some scientists believe the Amazon Basin is actually a net consumer of oxygen. Jungles produce less of everything that sustains wildlife than cleared producing land. That “lungs of the earth” bullshit does sound so very Homeric.

Nasa just released a study about corn in the US being the top producer of o2. If you dig down into the report it lists the Amazon to your 6% figure.

A big part of the problem of fake news and superficial news is that the truth can generally only be gleaned – if at all – through a very attenuated perusal of many “bad thought” blogs. You could basically start with those listed as “dangerous” by the site PropOrNot – the CIA propaganda site that went up in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 election. The difficulty is that any true free speech site that might post (or allow commenters to post) true amateur investigative journalism also allows people to comment about “kneegrows” or the (((chosen people))). If you’re trying to explain to a millennial how you know that Hillary’s staff obstructed justice in destroying emails the day after a House subpoena, you’d have to explain that her employee – Paul Combetta, aka “stonetear”, was searching on Reddit for how to wipe a hard drive. And that was discovered by people on “The Chans” and posted on The Conservative Treehouse. A millennial might be a candidate for the truth about the Russia hoax or how you know that Michael Brown was charging Darren Wilson when Wilson shot Brown, but if they’re not someone who could process “race realism”, or even a cynical view of the Black Grievance Industry, you can’t cite your sources, because they’re often at least “adjacent” to intolerable racism.

Hell, they can’t even take a Dave Chappelle routine. Too racist, sexist and homophobic. It’s like A Few Good Men – “you want the truth? You can’t handle the truth.”

Working around ever more of these people will only re-enforce that view of their stupidity. They’re very good at pretending and projecting. However if you scratch at the surface a little with followup questioning, they fall apart, revealing they don’t know very much.

Was told by one, that my calling something “voodoo” was not nice, because voodoo is a religion and it would be the same as calling something Christian or Islam. Aghast at this proclamation, I told her that the SJW brainwashing she received was going not do her any good and how she needed to thicken up her skin against such slights, or life will be very difficult. Still waiting on HR to escort me out of the building.

Another teammate of mine was wrote up for calling a mid 30 something an asshole for pissing all over the toilet. Apparently this wasn’t the first time he’d seen this person do that.

It’s really fucking sad to see the de-evolution of society.

The speculation is that the guy has a tiny dick and can’t handle it to control the flow, why he uses the stalls to piss, we think.
If you have aim issues, small dick or not,use the urinal, sit your ass down or wipe up the seat when you’re done. Is that so fucking hard to do?

Millennials can be summed up thusly: Soda bottles of fascism that have been shaken and set out in the sun all day. Just barely crack that can open with the slightest effort and you have yourself a royal mess. They’ve singlehandedly destroyed all of the politically incorrect, crude beauty of the Gen X workplace.

I can’t wait for this fucker to go down.

What I can figure from the millennials I employ, go to yoga with and those that hang out with my daughter in law is they are indeed very well informed, or brainwashed is probably more accurate.

The problem is they all parrot each other, agree with each other and live in an echo chamber.
Just try to have an intelligent conversation, about climate change, the Constitution, History, taxes, debt, religion, even eating fucking meat, you can’t do it.
They raise their voice, they get shrill, they bounce up and down in their seats they get so distraught at their cognitive dissonance.
You are either with them or you are against them. There is no discussion, there is no sharing of facts, there is no debate, there is no differing of opinion, there is no respect of a different opinion, you are either with them or you are an enemy.

They are not informed– they are programmed. Sounds like they view any dissenting viewpoint or deeper information as “an error in the programming.”– kind of like when your phone or computer rapidly and/or randomly shuts down when you ask it to perform a task which it can’t handle.

Least informed is more like it. They don’t read much either. Not much thinking going on about anything deep is my experience with the younger generation. They are worse than the generation of idiots before them. They are more likely to give up rights and freedoms and believe whatever line the gov. uses. Just wait for the idiot that follows Trump as President.

my dau. is trying to build herself a library so she buys lots of books, mostly used–
the library has a bookstore that sells donated or aged books–
the old ladies who volunteer there love her & save her the books they know she’s looking for because she’s about the only young person who comes in —

No wonder conservatism is dead as a fucking doornail.

Who exactly is a conservative anymore?

Everyone is looking at this wealthy, part-Jewish, professional liar AOC (who must be attractive to a wide swath of the younger generation) when they should be looking at manufactured cardboard-cutouts like Drumpf and Crenshaw.

Youthful skulls of mush have always followed a liberal socialist agenda of some sort right up to the point where they actually have to pay the debt loaded bill . The ones working within the government systems demand and consider themselves deserving of someone else’s earned wealth regardless of the damage inflicted . The parasitic nature of those in the coveted government job is exacerbated by the elected representatives promises of more for this select group regardless of the situation of those being forced thru taxation and debt to support them . This creates a voting block hard to beat .
In Maryland all any statewide politician has to do is win 3 or 4 subdivisions , districts loaded with the most welfare recipients and government employees . Everybody else can eat shit !

Maryland is a weird state.. I think 19 of 23 counties voted for Trump but Hillary won 69% of the overall vote. Between Baltimore county and city, liberal white guilt Montgomery county and 90% black ( fed govt workers) Prince Georges County bordering DC, the state is lost forever.

Strangely, if you get 30-40 miles away from DC or Baltimore, it turns deep red very quickly.

I’m going to go with a big ‘no’ on that one. They are the least educated in history. They are totally programmed by a university system that does not have the slightest idea what the aim of a true education is. Most of the progressive nonsense that infects the universities today is turning them into ‘social warrior’ zombies. It is a sad state of affairs.
