A lot of readers (some of them former readers now) have been angrily twanging me by email for writing about the three-year Resistance effort to un-do the 2016 election. I did not vote for Mr. Trump (or Mrs. Clinton) but I resent the coup mounted to overthrow him. I object to the bad faith and dishonesty of the Resistance. I object to the criminal misconduct among the federal bureaucracy, and the mendacity of its partners in the news media, and the hysteria they continue to generate — at the expense of other matters that concern our future.
The political disorder spooling out is the political expression of the long emergency that the nation faces as it finally encounters the limits to growth we were warned about decades ago. The techno-industrial phase of history is ending, and we are left only with inadequate fantasies for coming to terms with it and moving forward. The dynamic relationship between affordable energy supplies and the operations of money roils at the core of this predicament. They are undoing each other and the result will be a contraction of human activity. The big question we refuse to face is how to cope with contraction.
Beyond the ongoing orchestrated coup stands a reality-optional political Left consumed by serial hysterias, uninterested in truth, steeped in social despotism, and apparently willing to do anything to gain power. We should be very concerned with what they intend to do with that power. As they attempt to redistribute wealth, they will make the unhappy discovery that the wealth itself is subject to the wholesale contraction underway. The overvalued “assets” representing “money” hoarded by the “wealthy” will turn out to be figments of a runaway debt crisis. We have already debased the operations of banking, and the tokens that banks issue — currencies and securities — levitate over an abyss.
We already have plenty of evidence for what the Left will do to the principle of political liberty. Their shibboleths of “diversity” and “inclusion” really mean shutting down free speech and telling everybody how to think. They are less interested in “social justice” than in plain coercion, the pleasure they take in pushing people around. What’s worse is that they want to use government as the instrument for enforcing their will. I object to that not just on principle but because government itself will be subject to the same contraction affecting everything else. It simply won’t be able to compensate for all the other losses. Can we downscale its activities coherently, or will we make that journey violently, in some sort of civil war?
The Left seems to be opting for civil war. It is surely underway among branches of government and the administrative bureaucracy I call the Deep State. Barack Obama, John Brennan and others set the intel and police apparatus against Mr. Trump and the war goes on in the latest reckless campaign of “whistleblowers” who are no such thing, but rather agents provocateurs of the Central Intelligence Agency.
The Democrats in congress play a dangerous game with this as they attempt to engineer a non-impeachment impeachment — that is, without a vote by the whole House. To allow that vote would be a move to allow the opposition to participate in issuing subpoenas and seeing evidence, and the Democrats are bent on to preventing that. That ploy will provoke the White House to ignore their subpoenas and demands for documents on the principle that this mode of “Impeachment” is not legitimate.
The machinations of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Adam Schiff in this latest “whistleblower” affair pulsate with skullduggery. Are we to suppose that they will march out one “whistleblower” after another whose identity — or very reality — will remain secret through these proceedings? This is the sort of thing you get in Spanish inquisitions and soviet show trials. Until recently, all Americans had very firm objections to kangaroo courts and star chambers where the common-law safeguards of due process are thrown out the window. If the standoff goes to the Supreme Court, we’ll surely get yet another crusade to disqualify Justice Kavanaugh.
The Democratic Party is doing everything possible to destroy the legitimacy of these institutions — staring with elections themselves. The origins of the RussiaGate hoax will demonstrate that the party itself was behind “interference” in the 2016 election, and enlisted the help of several foreign governments in doing so. That is why they are so desperate to keep the level of hysteria amped to the max. The day may be not far off when a great and chilling silence falls over this mob as they look to the sky and see the indictments raining down.

It’s not surprising that Mr K’s readers at his blog would scream or leave, given the former slant of Mr K, who now writes as if the scales have fallen from his eyes and he’s principled enough to call ’em as he sees ’em. Currency operations, imho, lie at the core of all that is wrong with the present state of affairs, although there’s certainly much more to add to the list of “wrongness”, beginning with the antics now afoot. I have wondered what level of push back you would receive for calling it like you see it. I expect it to get worse, for all of us. As it is clear this latest effort is another loss something big is next, they have to go big.
They have a number of options, all of them unsavory for all of “us”, take the critique in stride, you at least know you are over the target.
In addition to my personal gratitude, please know even your most vociferous detractors benefit from your honest appraisal of the situation. Thank you, please continue, let us hope the center can hold.

The people voted against rent control 62-38%, but later they tried and still are to implement rent control and do not care what the people think.
Their solution to a 563% homeless population vs statewide average per population is to allow homeless camps in neighborhoods which NOBODY wants anywhere. They don’t care, they are still trying to do it.
The 563% homeless population is caused by government at all levels and the self-interested all virtuous and all non-profits concentrating their homeless services just here, no where else.
The council’s solution is of course MORE services, just here, and blame wealthy gentry (normal homeowners/landlords) for the problem, and want to tax just them through the teeth to pay for them.
The more services solution is a bit like blood letting. the patient is sick, take more blood.
Their politic is causing landlords to sell their homes and get out as fast as possible making the rental situation worse. Their solution is to implement a radical city inspection program and require upgrades to properties (like sewer inspections, etc) to stem the tide of the richer leaving the city.
They want to turn Santa Cruz into a cesspool of government dependence and have homeowners pay for it.
We are fighting back with a recall, and only have 2 weeks to the deadline to get 8000 signatures. It started out with 150 people, but now there are maybe 30 left collecting them after others “did their part”, but we would have needed 500 such people if that is all they did. Maybe we will prevail, maybe not.
Throw in race (one council member is black, 2 others mixed race, one for sure a racial activist), one lesbian, one I’d say communist, at least 4 including her are leftists, gender, and a council packed with leftist grievance mongers it isn’t going well. They endorse every leftist crazy thing there is.
This is the first time in my life where I truly believe my government, at EVERY level, has it seriously in for people like me and will use lies, smirks, conspiracy, and even the problems of seriously suffering people to make even more people suffer, and they don’t see it or care.

You forgot to mention that it is now Okay to steal up to $950 per day here in the Golden State without fear of prosecution. My daughter manages a Trader Joe’s here on the coast and her store fired the security guard and removed all of the cameras because there is not a thing anyone can do if the public decides they want to stuff their pockets. She said that the worst offenders were the elderly as they are the most brazen since they cant run. All they can do is ask “are you going to pay for that?” as they walk out of the door with bottles of wine and a bag full of good cheese.

You are so right about the large cities here in Texas. We live 50 miles outside of San Antonio and don’t even go there any more. Our daughter lives in a southwest suburb of Houston and luckily we can skirt most of Houston to get to her home. Governor Abbott has given the mayor of Austin an edict to get the homeless mess there cleaned up or he will. There are homeless living on the streets near the capital. If I was not so old, I would sell and move farther away from the cities. I do not recognize the country I grew up in and am beginning to feel the same way about my beloved state of Texas.
There used to be claims from Texans about secession being written into their State constitution.
Now that the larger cities are “de facto sanctuary” to both legitimized (refugee status) and illegitimized (regular beaners and others of such “ilk”) non-citizens, Texans may need to figure out a way to secede from TEXAS to avoid Altrustic Bondage to never ending reparations for never occurring damages to people who want the land they stole from the Mexicans a long time ago.

Use thin walled beer and soda bottles with 1/2 oil 1/2 gas or rubbing alcohol. Wet rag with same and stuff into lip. Put in rag facing down. The propellant will ignite the rag. If bottle is too loose in barral, just wet a rag with water and wrap around bottle just tight enough to seal it. BBQ grill igniters threaded in work fine. When spraying in propellant, remember that less is better. Have fun.

My brother and a friend were screwing around with a potato launcher once. A little bit of juice is good, a lot better they figured. His friend held the pipe in place with his foot, while my brother lit it. It split the kid’s foot between his big toe and second toe way up near the ankle. It was not pretty. Care is advised!

Hair spray is best. Consistent and safer. The gas and oil go into the thin walled bottles you are launching instead of potatoes. Thin walls ensures that they break easily upon landing. Even on a shingled roof.
You can also use surgical rubber tubing, a few feet, two strands, attached to a bowl or somesuch. It will launch a potato, water balloon, etc., a couple hundred yards and up. Something similar to this, but these folks are amateurs. We used funnels to hold the projectile. Blasted down a door with a water balloon once – had no idea it had that kind of power.

I just drove into the Amish village, turned my car off and walked the lane, pashmina in place around my head and shoulders and walked to the Maple Syrup Yoders who appear to live just past the Berry Picking Yoders and about half way between the two very wonderful homes (camera left on dash filming until the battery went dead.
And it did because they invited me inside and now I have a little Amish boy named Titus who raises New Zealand White meat rabbits for the family. His buck died on Karen’s birthday.
She must have sent me out there. She loves little industrious kids. I bartered two rabbits for one quart of very light amber syrup and one quart of medium syrup in Mason jars, heat sealed by Rebeckah because now that she knows me and we have prayed and broken bread together, I’m kind of like family.
Oh, and I had three silver rounds with me to buy a gallon, but he (Jedediah) told me he would need to check with the elder about rates, but they will deal in silver rounds and junk silver.

Well, the printing of my father’s books ceased when he died, as did sales. I gift a few once in a while but the “Master” copy of each is at the farm house with my mother, protected by angels surrounding her.
The Master’s original is with the Master.
Number 13 may have gotten away, but that’s fine since it identifies whomever has it as the scoundrel who accepted it.
Those two big albums on the bottom were hand drawn, hand painted and hand constructed on a binding mechanism my father invented.

I agree with much of this analysis, but the use of the “civil war” is problematic. Not because it is ill used, but because of the imagery it invokes; two armies , one wearing gray and one blue, lined up on a broad plain, bayonets fixed. What I think it will be is more akin to an insurgency, with sporadic and unconventional tactics employed. As I write this, reports are coming in that the the streets in front of the Supreme Court, which is currently considering a case on abortion rights, are closed because of a suspicious package that was left in front. Something like this may turn out to be our Fort Sumter.
When I was young, I was a seasonal fire fighter in the foothills of California. One day our fire captain mused that if someone really wanted to screw the state up, all they would have to do is drive the length of California, tossing lighted kitchen matches out the window. Given the destruction of accidental fires here in the past few years, it’s easy to believe he was right. This is the template for the coming conflict, which I believe is almost inevitable. There won’t be any roar of cannons; what we will hear is the endless wail of sirens.
