What began as an administrative review by the Justice Department into the origins of Russiagate has “shifted” to a criminal inquiry, according to the New York Times, citing two people familiar with the matter.
The move will allow prosecutor John H Durham the power to subpoena documents and witnesses, to impanel a grand jury, and to file criminal charges. Durham’s progress has been closely monitored by Attorney General William Barr, who appointed the veteran investigator in May, tasking him with looking into FBI and CIA intelligence gathering operations surrounding the 2016 US election.
As the Daily Caller‘s Chuck Ross notes, Barr said on April 10 that he believed “spying” had taken place against the Trump campaign, and that he doesn’t buy former FBI officials’ version of how the collusion investigation began.
Little is known about Durham’s activities so far in the investigation. The Times report said it is unclear when the investigation took on a criminal element, or what specific crime Durham is investigating.
Durham accompanied Barr to Italy late in September as part of an inquiry into U.S. intelligence agents’ activities there during the 2016 campaign. They also inquired about Joseph Mifsud, a mysterious Maltese professor who established contact with Trump aide George Papadopoulos in 2016. –Daily Caller
Just over three weeks ago, the Times also reported that President Trump asked the Australian Prime Minister to help Barr uncover the origins of “Russiagate,” a move which Justice Department officials said “would be neither illegal nor untoward for Trump to ask.”
And according to NBC News, Durham has set his sights on former CIA Director John Brennan and former national intelligence director James Clapper.
Durham’s investigation has been running parallel to a probe by Justice Department Inspector General (and registered Democrat) Michael Horowitz, who told Congress on Thursday that he expects his report to be “lengthy,” but able to be made mostly available to the public.
The Durham probe is similar to a Justice Department inspector general’s investigation into the FBI’s surveillance of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Michael Horowitz, the inspector general, told Congress on Thursday that the report of that investigation is “lengthy” and that he anticipates most of it will be made public.
Horowitz has been investigating whether the FBI misled the foreign surveillance court in spy applications against Page. Investigators relied heavily on the Steele dossier in the applications, though information in that document was largely unverified. Unlike Durham, Horowitz has not had subpoena power, and cannot use a grand jury as part of his investigation. –Daily Caller
And of course, with Durham’s administrative review turning into a criminal probe, the Times has already given away the predictable response from the left; Barr is investigating the Obama intelligence community to help Trump win in 2020. Nothing to see here folks, right?

The murky moves of the civil war in DC, lots of activity under the surface. I always found it strange that General Flynn who had pled guilty kept having his sentencing delayed. I guess now we know why.
His new lawyer Sidney Powell who actually wrote a great book about the evil DOJ swamp rat Andrew Weissman has been dropping major bombs on the DOJ/FBI, revealing that Joseph Mifsud the supposed Russian agent that kicked off the whole fraud is, in fact, a western intelligence agent. She has the Mifsud cell phones, sim card ids etc…..shortly after Barr and Durham traveled Italy.
Sounds like Barr’s strategy here is to launch the prosecutions of the coup plotters by rolling the evidence into court through Sidney Powell, getting Flynn’s case dismissed and then using those court filings as the basis of further prosecutions.

Now unless you have been tracking the whole coup the attached article may seem a bit obtuse but let me sketch the events:
The FBI/CIA/DOJ launched “OCONUS” lures at the Trump campaign in a push-pull operation to obtain a series of FISA warrants on Carter Page and George Papadopolous, minor campaign figures Trump never even met. Critically however both were outside of the US, allowing the CIA to use foreign intelligence services to spy on them (Britain, Italy, Australia).
Joseph Mifsud a Maltese professor contacted Papadopolous and told him that the Russians have the Clinton emails. Then Australian diplomat Andrew Downer and Stefan Halper (CIA asset in UK) met with George to get him to say something incriminating about colluding with Russia…he did not and in fact rejected participation etc.
Carter Page who had previously worked with the FBI on the FIFA soccer corruption case and a Naval Academy grad was (falsely and fraudulently) accused of being a Russian Agent and FISA warrants were obtain on both George and Page…..under the 2 hop rule those warrants provided access to all of the Trump campaign email, voice and data traffic.
Counterintelligence investigations were launched by the FBI in July 2016 and the rest is history.
Barr/Durham have of course known the entire scam for a long time, as did the bumbling Mueller. No collusion ever and horrific abuse of the law, the rights of the targets, intelligence rules, the FISA courts, etc. A white coup to remove a duly elected POTUS.
Now I actually have a sliver of hope that something might be done about it….
If Mifsud is shown to be the obvious entrapment agent that he is and not a Russian agent…then the entire edifice of the collusion hoax comes down, it was a plot the entire time based on the now-debunked Steele dossier.
John Brennan and the CIA elements who concocted the Steele Dossier along with the Clinton Campaign….are shitting themselves hoping Mr. Steele does not rat them out….that in fact he never wrote the Dossier it was prepared by Nelly Ohr and others. Steele was simply the credible face used by the FBI to obtain the warrants (Steele being the former MI6 head of station in Moscow)……along with the OCONUS entrapment scheme.
One can speculate how much the CIA held back from the FBI on the Dossier….which will provide some comic relief at some point in this process.
So Barr and Durham have been traveling to the various outsourced intelligence countries (Italy, UK, etc) and now seem to be preparing the battlefield for a major prosecution. How high up they will reach is still to be determined.
Remember however the Strozk/Page texts: “The WH wants to know everything we are doing” and as Andy McCarthy has pointed out, a counter-espionage investigation can only be done for the POTUS….so this all goes back to the Kenyan….what did he know and when did he know it. I doubt anything happens to Bathhouse Barry but we will see.

For a couple of years, a few intrepid reporters have been digging up the dirt, but the left derides them as faux journalists working for right wing conspiracy organizations, attacking the messenger and ignoring the message. it appears, we finally have the attention of the Dept. of Justice and things are moving forward.
I see Clapper as a weak link and they should go after him with a vengeance, getting him to roll over on all the rest. Brennan has the keys to the White House connection, but I doubt he will ever roll over on 0bama and even if he did, nothing can be done to the first half black president.

When/if indictments come down and for whom, then we will have a better sense if this window dressing with a few sacrificial lambs or Augean Stables house cleaning…Given the energy and drama from the Dems/DeepState on impeachment, I am hoping that translates into more stable cleaning than lamb shearing.
In the interim, call your representatives and Senators and demand they push for criminal prosecutions and an end to the impeachment farce if they are GOP and let them you know are watching carefully and will fund the opposition if they are Dems.
