You could be absolutely correct, Barr is just a Deep Stater in there to clean up the mess and protect the interests of the Deep State. I would suspect however that like most things Barr is conflicted, has multiple constituencies and it is not 100% clear what will happen:
If McCabe is not prosecuted but Stone and Flynn and Manafort and Papa D were doesn’t that just make the Government in DC illegitimate and seal their fate if not immediately then surely over time?
If McCabe is prosecuted can that be done without destroying the key power institutions in DC? DOJ, FBI, CIA et al…..Obviously McCabe is just one player among many in the key power roles in DC that participated in a coup to change an election, to remove a POTUS they didn’t like. How do you prosecute one part of the coup without going after all the coup plotters? Will McCabe take down the ship in his defense? He already has sued over his dismissal, his free speech rights etc……
Remember James Wolff the Senate intelligence committee senior staffer leaking like classified material like a sieve? Nada….a hand slap if that…..why because to prosecute him would be to destroy the Senate.
Now I advocate for the full monty prosecution…..public trials and then executions on the WH lawn of Brennan, Comey, McCabe, Schiff, Dana Boente, Rosenstein, Strozk, Page, Andrew Weisman etc….give them due process and if found quilty maximum sentences.
Barr being a swamp rat does not think like that….he wants to preserve the hideous government.

Did you not see that McCabe has already walked — 2 year “investigation” and the DOJ is not prosecuting. He’s been on all the MSNBC and other outlets outraged that it took so long to clear his name! Disgusting.
Yep, that’s pretty bad and shows obvious double standard of justice….Barr wants to preserve the institutions he has worked for his whole life….unfortunately the right answer for the country is to close down the DOJ, FBI, CIA, DHS and every other US Government office, fire every military officer above Captain and reboot the whole thing…..but insiders never can be reformers.
