SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Schostakowitsch: 7. Sinfonie (»Leningrader«)

I. Allegretto

II. II. Moderato (poco allegretto)

III. III. Adagio — Largo — Moderato risoluto — Largo — Adagio

IV. IV. Allegro non troppo

hr-Sinfonieorchester (Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra)

Marin Alsop, Dirigentin

Alte Oper Frankfurt, 11. April 2014

This one’s for the kids.

The Overture of the Operetta titled “Jolly Robbers”

Once again, it is the Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra, and once again, it is conducted by the highly animated Maciej Tomasiewicz. This guy absolutely loves his job!

Written by Franz von Suppe (1819-1895), first performed in 1867.

The kids play flawlessly. I can’t stop the italics… I can see how classical music is alive and thriving in countries such as Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. It will continue to thrive if they deny unfettered immigration of African Muslims.

This is a lively little tart of music.

Play it for the kiddos…

Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 21, KV 467

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart : Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, KV 467

I. Allegro maestoso(00:33)

II. Andante(15:09)

III. Allegro vivace assai(22:02)

Pianist: Yeol Eum Son

Conductor: Gyu-Seo Lee

Orchestral Ensemble Seoul

Recorded at the Seoul Arts Center, 7 October 2018.

Classic Medley

Another of the Mebius Saxophone Ensemble.

The kids are a little older here, but still quite young.

I will add some more of them at various stages in their development here.

Play this for your kids. Show them what they can do

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.

Heaven help us…

Excellent choices, the Schostakowitsch is an old favorite. And the kids are great a real delight.

The Mozart piano concerto 21 was blocked from access on copyright infringement grounds,
when opening it was attempted on my end.

Here’s a worthy alternate.
