I am currently in day 10 of covid.
Sixty years old, fairly active on our little farm, on no prescription meds, blood pressure a bit higher than I’d like, also would like to lose 15 pounds. (Just shy of 5’-10, 188 pounds).
I walk regularly, usually 2 miles, all up and down hills.
My wife and I contacted covid at a social function, several people did, at least one was tested positive, all of us presenting similar symptoms.
I have been keeping a bit of a log:
(Day 1 is 6 days after being exposed)
Day 1…Aching, not much else.
Day 2…A bit tired, did office work.
Day 3… Just a bit tired.
Day 4… Felt good, worked outdoors from before sunrise till sunset. Prepared a bed for garlic, cleaned the chicken coop, built fence. Was exhausted at sundown, stumbled into the sauna, and went to bed.
Day 5… Crashed, started to cough, felt just awful all day. Took two saunas.
Day 6… Coughed a bit more, no energy, no fever, no taste. Slight shortness of breath after a very long and hot sauna, but recovered fairly quickly.
Day 7… Slightly better than yesterday, worked in the office for half a day.
Day 8… pretty good this morning, worked in the office, crashed early afternoon, got very tired walking to the mailbox (800 feet). Had sauna in the evening.
Day 9… Still no fever, coughed a bit more. Didn’t do much all day. Got up to go sauna at 7:00 pm, couldn’t make it, sat by the wood stove instead and dozed for three hours then went to bed.
Day 10… Feel slightly better than yesterday, had a nice sauna this morning, actuallytasted my breakfast a bit, and have been sitting around most of the day. Did make it out to the mailbox without shortness of breath. Brought in firewood and keeping the wood stove going (like every day of the covid).
Like Hardsrabble says, “it’s the flue, bro.”

Sounds like the trick to a good outcome is cleaning up a chicken coop.

Be careful dropping weight depending on your level of activity on the farm, which seems like a lot. I’m 6-foot, 195 lb, and if I try to drop my weight to 185 which I occasionally think I should, I find I don’t have the strength and stamina that I’m used to having. Hardscrabble has told me on these pages that he prefers to be lean and wiry for what he does, as opposed to having a little extra bulk. Maybe it’s the heat down here, I lose 5 or 6 lb on an average summer day. Farming is not a desk job most of the time. I weigh myself several times a week, in the evening for consistency, and I’m not as interested in the number anymore as I am the physical abilities that number translates to. You, I, and Hardscrabble are all the same age. Take good care of that human machine, and it can last a long time. My grandfather picked crops on Sunday until he was 90 years old. Feel better, sounds like you have it whooped

Guessing Christie spends more time at Olive Garden than he does at the gym. Just a guess.

How can one take a decent crap when, one is plump like Christie?
