QUOTE OF THE DAY

Strauss & Howe provide four possible outcomes to our current Crisis:

  1. This Fourth Turning could mark the end of man. It could be an omnicidal Armageddon, destroying everything, leaving nothing. If mankind ever extinguishes itself, this will probably happen when its dominant civilization triggers a Fourth Turning that ends horribly. For this Fourth Turning to put an end to all this would require an extremely unlikely blend of social disaster, human malevolence, technological perfection and bad luck.
  2. The Fourth Turning could mark the end of modernity. The Western saecular rhythm – which began in the mid-fifteenth century with the Renaissance – could come to an abrupt terminus. The seventh modern saeculum would be the last. This too could come from total war, terrible but not final. There could be a complete collapse of science, culture, politics, and society. Such a dire result would probably happen only when a dominant nation (like today’s America) lets a Fourth Turning ekpyrosis engulf the planet. But this outcome is well within the reach of foreseeable technology and malevolence.
  3. The Fourth Turning could spare modernity but mark the end of our nation. It could close the book on the political constitution, popular culture, and moral standing that the word America has come to signify. The nation has endured for three saecula; Rome lasted twelve, the Soviet Union only one. Fourth Turnings are critical thresholds for national survival. Each of the last three American Crises produced moments of extreme danger: In the Revolution, the very birth of the republic hung by a thread in more than one battle. In the Civil War, the union barely survived a four-year slaughter that in its own time was regarded as the most lethal war in history. In World War II, the nation destroyed an enemy of democracy that for a time was winning; had the enemy won, America might have itself been destroyed. In all likelihood, the next Crisis will present the nation with a threat and a consequence on a similar scale.
  4. Or the Fourth Turning could simply mark the end of the Millennial Saeculum. Mankind, modernity, and America would all persevere. Afterward, there would be a new mood, a new High, and a new saeculum. America would be reborn. But, reborn, it would not be the same.

My money is on 2. Because that is the only direction people are willing to go, at this point. That 3 would occur on its own (without one of the other possibilities) is silly. 4 is not possible.

There could be a complete collapse of science, culture, politics, and society.

These are all pretty much happening now. To personify these things, science is now a whore, politics a thief, society a madman and culture a dressed up tranny reading to school children. They all have further to fall of course.

What’s coming is almost certainly a massive economic upheaval and collapse. Modern civilization is a very fragil thing. It depends in no small part on abundant energy and a LOT of specialized technology. Won’t take much to
upset the balance…..and when it comes crashing down the MODERN world will in many ways regress to something akin to the beginning of the Industrial age. The only difference is ALL the easily accessed resources like oil and
minerals have already been depleted. What’s left will be mostly beyond our technical ability to access. When that
happens we regress to an agrarian society with a LOT less people, a LOT less technology and essentially ZERO prospects of ever regaining a technological society that could allow us to leave planet earth.

Do a thought experiment.
Imagine that nothing has gone wrong anywhere except that the internet is gone. To get any item not in the local store, you have to know that the product is available, you have to know there is a seller, you need a catalog from the seller, and you need a way to c0mplete the order.
That would be difficult, and yet nothing is broken except the internet. Stores would face similar dilemmas in supply, and suppliers would face the same thing from their side.
Modern society is much more vulnerable to upset than most would believe.

As an aside, imagine you are a technotyrant in charge of such a system. Implosion won’t be long in coming despite any effort you may make to sustain your position. To believe otherwise is delusion.

BTW, I figure we are in for about 2.5 on the above list.

72 hours is all it takes to go from first world to third world and, you never have to leave your house. No travel involved.

Whatever “first world” even means, the US is not in it (any more). 30 blocks of Squalor is all you have to look at.

#2 appears most likely when the USD loses reserve currency status. I see that happening very soon.

I read “Fourth Turning” shortly after it was written in the late 1990’s. The prescience of Strauss and Howe is remarkable and frightening. Winston Churchill had the right idea and it applies again today,

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”-Winston Churchill.

Where we stand right now option number four is a fantasy. The American Republic is dead. The ACP (American Communist Party) performed the Coup de Grace with the election theft and the installment of the demented imbecile as POTUS.

Option number three is IMHO the best we can hope for. A peaceable Balkanization is what I yearn for but, I highly doubt that it will happen peacefully. We’re approaching a possible final battle of good versus evil. I know who finally wins, I read the “Book” but, it’s going to be very ugly getting there as we’ve been forewarned.

That being said option number two is where I think we’re headed. Welcome to the tribulation. Time to “Get down on the mountain”.

Option one is the absolute victory of evil. I have faith that will never happen.

No. 4 is out. We are past that point already. My unfaltering hope for humanity makes me dismiss No. 1 as a possibility. So 2 or 3 are left. Like Ken, my money is on #2.

If we are truly in the End Times No 3 fits prophecy as America has no voice or presence in the final 7 years of the end of the beginning.
