I was thinking they might be necessary to stop authority types from pulling drivers from their cabs and commandeering the trucks, in order to reopen the border. It could happen, especially in a country already descending into extreme authoritarianism.

I don’t believe this to be beyond the realm of possibilities considering Trudeau’s incredible willingness to trample on all people’s rights, without so much as batting an eye. It’s surreal — the calm manner in which he and others so calmly suppress human rights, and it’s EVIL.
They can and its certainly not above them to do this, as all communist regimes have done in the past. But they simply do not have the manpower to arrest and ‘comandeer’ the trucks.

Misspelling on purpose also works to get people to re-read the tweet and better comprehend it. Auron Macintyre often misspells stuff, and he has a unique ability to distill issues down to utmost salience. I don’t think it’s by accident.

At Southern California seaports the shipping lines, importers, exporters and unions are all powerful and are awash in money. The truckers, though, are at the bottom of the barrel because they’ll work too cheap. They can’t get together to become a power center and increase their take. It’s too bad because they could wield enormous power.

I copied and pasted from a co-worker to briefly explain why there is currently talk of a strike with BNSF Railway employees over a soon-to-be insane attendance policy change. He is credited below…
I’ve been contemplating what to write and who to write it to ever since BNSF announced their new attendance policy. First off, I would like to address the fact that their reasoning for instituting this new policy is to remain competitive and service their customers more safely and efficiently. To address this matter, I would just like to point out that when I first started with the railroad in 2004, Matt Rose was CEO; we, for the most part, always had plenty of people on the extra boards, (even if it meant paying out a little bit of guarantee), and we had several yard jobs that could switch cars out and service customers as they needed. In doing so we were able to absorb a substantial amount of business from the UP, because they were unable to service their customers, as a result of them utilizing their “Precision Railroading” model. For some unknown reason, under CEO Carl Ice, even after we had basically taken over as the industry leader, we still continued to try to emulate the UP, (which is basically the same as a Carnival cruise ship trying to emulate the Titanic), and decided that in order for us to remain competitive that we must also adopt this precision railroading policy. As a result of this we began cutting the boards and jobs, which ultimately led to the physical and mental exhaustion of every railroader system wide. Due to the extreme amount of fatigue, and in order to physically restore some sort of rest and mentally recover, all TY&E trainmen were forced to layoff just so we could rest a day or so.
Secondly, when we hired on we were told that there are no such things as holidays, or days off on the railroad, you’re expected to be on call every hour of every day for your entire career and work every time you are called at any time of the day, no questions asked. When the trainmen began to utilize their ability to take off 25% of the time, which normally equates to 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days a month, (7 total), even if it was one of these holidays that weren’t supposed to exist on the railroad. The carrier began to try to institute, what they labeled as high impact days. These days could be determined at any time and any location at the carrier’s discretion. Local festivals could even be determined to be a high impact day for that location. Employees still utilizing their maximum of 25% of the time still were able to maneuver and take time off.
Instead of offering some sort of incentives for employees to stay marked up and working their high impact days, they have decided to punish the entire workforce by instituting this policy that no employee, even the ones that stay marked up 90% of the time are going to be able to maintain good attendance. If you take off 1 Wednesday a half you will hit availability violation within 8 months. That’s not reasonable, for a person to only be allowed off two days a month.
The other thing that EXTREMELY irritates me is when they label us as “part time” employees. If you have never worked, or lived with a railroader, then you have no understanding of the lifestyle that they live. We are on call 24 hours a day, every single day of the year, which eliminates being able to get too far away from your calling location. Once your called you have approximately 90 minutes to wrap up whatever you are doing, get your things packed and show up ready to go wherever, for an undetermined amount of time. A normal person considers their time at work to be from the time they leave their house to go to work to the time they return to their house. If a railroader does the same then they are, on average, at work for possibly 40 hours every time they go to work. The railroad tries to say that the time that we are expected to rest out at the hotel is not time at work, but I cannot spend time with my family, I cannot mow my yard, or take care of any other essential chores that are needing to be done at my house. They will even go as far as to say any 24 hour period spent in the hotel away from our homes and families is our day off, to reset our federally mandated time off. A 24 hour period at our away from home terminal; away from our families or our homes is ABSOLUTELY NOT a day off. They consider it as a day off which resets our starts and allows them to work us for another 6-7 straight days. So, a lot of the time in order to get some time off at home and get essential chores done at our own houses we are forced to layoff for a 24 hour period. The time that the carrier considers us at work is restricted to only the time that we are on the trains, not the entire time we are away from our families and our homes. Which normally, I still have more than 160 hours a month just on the trains. A normal full-time employee has 40 hour work weeks, 4 weeks a month which equates to 160 hours a month. So, with that in consideration, we are still very much, much more than a part time employee. To me this is a slap in the face of every employee on call 24/7.
I think back over my career and think about all the things that I have missed out on in my children’s lives and especially now wonder why. Why did I miss Christmas programs, choir, concerts, softball games, basketball games, football games, soccer games, wrestling matches, and awards programs etc. etc…. I did all this for a company that has no appreciation for me or any sacrifice that I or any other TYE employee has made so that they could run their trains. Now with this new HIVIZ policy it’s going to be even more sacrifices for us and for them to make an even bigger record profit, on the blood, sweat, and tears of exhausted trainmen.
To me this entire thing is just a part of the problem, the entire world has gone mad with GREED and making record profits with no regard to the employees who are working their lives away to make these profits. There is no reason that the employees of these companies should be so disregarded and looked upon with such utter contempt. The employees are just as essential to the profits of the company as the owners, stockholders and the customers. This strike to me is essential to remind the company and the world how essential the employees are to the success of the company. So I am praying and asking everyone I know, and anyone else who would join in praying that we are allowed to strike and draw attention to the greed of the BNSF railroad.

I know an engineer my older brothers age, was what they called a ‘sharpshooter’. He would work about 3/4 days a week and was crappin in tall cotton by the time he retired….
Around here, it was/is the highest paying industry except for maybe one, an aircraft engine maintenance factory.
The railroad van driver’s job for the taxi shuttles pays minimum wage, no benefits, on call 24/7 with 30 min. response time requirement, and the shift is normally 14-16 hrs. sitting in a van, but sometimes more.

I was working at the corporate headquarters in Fort Worth and I can only guess this was one of “them” that made the decision to outsource 138 “exempt” IT employees to IBM in 2003. My life as railroad employee with a “vision” of a better “retirement” than SS only lasted two years. 🙁 . Part of the global cabal or whatever I suppose. No hard feelings. I worked with IT employees that had worked either for BNSF or Santa Fe when the merger took place in ’93 I believe that had moved to Fort Worth from former headquarters , Santa Fe in Topeka , KS and not certain where BNSF’s headquarters had been , maybe St. Paul , MN. Anyway those folks were far more disappointed than I when “shipped out” to IBM. Just a bit of “history”.
Different story, part of my job as IT administrator on an operations desk was once a month to scan all servers on the network for pornography. Porn on the network was a “no, no”. I really had a good time working at the corporate headquarter facilities. We found that women that utilized servers serving St. Paul were the worst about porn pics in their profiles. Funny , the joke was the women out of St. Paul never shaved under their arms, they had hairy armpits. California came in second as far as porn on the networks. We had a couple , a man and a woman (lol) that worked our desk as contractors. It was difficult to get them motivated for much of what we monitored and troubleshooted but when it came time for the porn scans they were “Johnny on the spot”. It seemed they thoroughly enjoyed the porn pics that were discovered. In fact probably the most prolific porn pic discovered was by that couple and it was titled , “Fist up ass”, found in some woman’s profile on a St. Paul server.
Best job I ever had , not the porn scans, the job itself. It only fell fell far short of my anticipation, RR retirement, BNSF retirement. Actually BNSF, formerly Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroads.

The moneychangers for sure. This afternoon, I will attempt to attend a hearing in District Court- [I’ve been pushing hard on a local fb community page under my wife’s acct] and two local businessmen have filed a suit over the county health administrators authority on a recent decision.
I have had two lengthy phone conversations with him beginning on 1-5-21-wherein I advised him of rt-pcr testing false positives, the Dr. Mullis who invented the method, financial incentives for hospitals/positive patients, etc., and the suppression of the therapeutics known to work.
I contacted him by phone again last week, wherein I expanded just a bit to include experimental jabs, and we discussed the recent health order …..
The suit is over him over riding cdc’s 5 day isolation…and stayed with his 10 day order. As I told him, I don’t pay any attention to mask orders, my issues are much larger…

There are some lawyers intervening along with a couple accountants. Gist of it is gofundme can go-F-off as they have zero rights to tell those having the money donated to them how to spend that monies.
We know how this all works and it gets challenged first by lawyers. Then people start doing the work arounds like delivering food directly to the truckers. A fuel company donates a load of fuel and fill a few tanks.
